Did you need anymore 680i benchmark comparisons with a E6400? I'm home right not and can run just about anything you 'd like.

Orthos shot, if you overclock the board at all you end up with the CPU readings being all over the map. ;)
you say loosening ram timings helps you pass orthos...but everything else is stable... have you tried something like folding @ home with big work units?
IMO nothing is more proof of a stable system then 2 instances of FAH with -forceasm and scientific methods on...
Orthos stabiliy means that FAH will pass...
I can 3dmark loop a full 200mhz higher then an orthos/fah pass.
not a big deal though. im just saying for a 100% stable system i dont think orthos is failing, i just think the mobos are getting so good that they are good at handling unstable cpu's.
I can pass Orthos with slightly looser timings but then a couple of applications start to freeze up. I am more concerned about getting applications to run than I am about Orthos stability at 8 hours. I will start up FAH tonight and see how far I get on 1T. I am trying to take a three week review cycle and squeeze it into three days. This board needs a good week to sort out all of the performance options not to mention trying to tune a dozen different memory modules to make sure most of the bases are covered. The plan now is a quick performance preview to hit on the major topics about the board and then follow-up in a week with a full review. In the meantime I get to try a few beta BIOS releases in between. ;)Quote:

They have a sample run made, these boards should hit the USA before Xmas, this is like the 975 infinity where 30 boards or so shipped.
Now...there are some tweaks to be made, this was the whole point of 4 people getting the board to test. These should be just bios issues though so no hold up is expected on this first small shipment.
Final run will be made soon and these board will be available in the new year, this was always the case for absolute mass production boards and not the pilot run.
I hope this settles the will there or the won't there be...all being well there will be a small shipment as i have been saying all along, if something serious turns up though there could be a small delay which would push things back to the new year.

I honostly donīt understand this ongoing hunt for "orthos" stability.!?!?
If it is stable enough to do what you want it to do...then why hunt for more. If running orthos is the only thing you are doing with you computer then fine, orthos stability is what you need. But if you use it for gaming and everyday usage and some additional benching from time to time...then why bother with this orthos madness.
If I take my self as an example...when I settle down for 24/7 usage I have SuperPI 32M as "land mark"... if does that then i 95% of the cases it is stable for my usage. Some times I might have to adjust the voltages slightly...but just a tad.
Well this is just my thought and input...donīt mean to offend anyone anyhow.
For me, Orthos and Prime95 have been essential testing tools. I fold 24/7, (I'm in the top 600) so my thinking has been that if my system is orthos/prime stable, then I can reasonably assume that I will be stable for folding. This way of thinking could very well be way out in left field. (and I'm sure someone will tell me if so :p: ) Therefore, I'm following the orthos discussions as it pertains to RD600 with great interest. Maybe orthos won't be a proper tool to use with this board, maybe just an update to orthos and/or the RD600 bios will make things better.

I have had all the 3DMarks pass, SuperPiss pass, as well as various other benches pass, but Orthos would fail within a few minutes.
So then i go play some Q4, only to have it crash twice in an hour.
That's why i like Orthos.
I'm not saying it's imperative for everyone, but for those of us who actually use our PCs, it's a pretty damn decent indicator is stability.
Granted, it may need an update, but as mentioned, if you want rock solid stability, there are few other programs that will cut it.
Has anyone tested with board with Kentsfield? I'm wondering if it can do 400+ FSB with quad cores.
A lot more people at XS run Orthos than you think. Also XS has very good folding teams. Folding is just as demanding as Orthos. Try running your computer at 100% load for weeks, even months on end. Then you will know if it's really stable.Quote:

guys apps can have code issues with chipsets, we saw the same with early builds of memtest86 and prime had issues with Athlons also.....so it just may need a tweak or two to run 100% on this ATI chipset.
Then again it may be just plain unstable...I will try to run some tests to see soon.
