I would not purchase this board over a P5W DH with 1.85v mch. The Asus consistently overclocks better under different users, the layout is much better and allows you to use your own sound card, and the board is packed with many more overall features.

The AW9D-Max overclocks well, but not consistently hitting 440-460mhz among different users as we were lead to believe it would. It's limited to provided sound card when using dual GPU configurations. With Black PCB & Blue LEDS, it looks nice. Best overall feature in my opinion is the uGuru Utility which allows you to set overclock presets in windows for some quick benching. Solid board to build a 400-420 FSB system although 420 FSB requires me to set 1.95v mch in bios.

Did you turn off eist/speedstep. My board was doing the same till i figured out that the option was in cpu feature in the advanced bios menu. After that i found the droop to be very minimal. I then switched my old psu for the silencer 750 and now my board seems to overvolt.

hehe yea i didnt turn it off when i reset my cmos, was wondering why it was that bad.

well been testing all day everything over 430 fsb the board freezes instantly in orthos.2vmch 1.7vcore 2.55vdimm still will not go any higher.

Yea its kind of hidden. I went with this board primarily because of how solid the vcore is and the bonus of not having the board power down my psu and hard drives every time it reboots like the asus boards. The p5b deluxe was drooping damn near .7 volts while under load. Definately not acceptable.

do you have the latest bios? That helped me some. I was able to get as high as 433fsb before my phase ran into some other issues and i couldnt go any further. Have you also tried loosening up your ram timings a bit?

lastest bios, and relax timings dont make a difference for me. computer runs fine and once i open orthos it freezes rite away.

So im running a XE 965 with OCZ 2gb plat xtc pc6400 and I am getting 30 Sec 1M super PI?

Try to "save and exit" ONLY EACH "page" of the bios for start....Not too much pages together - for start - .....;)

I was having that problem.

Check that the CMOS jumper isn't loose, if it is swap it for one of the other USB jumper pins.

Also, try to change all the settings to what you want at stock speeds then save an exit, re-enter BIOS and overclock from there as it should revert to the last stable boot if the OC fails. I think..........

that's wierd, with p4 netbust, the mulitplier works with 18x↑

but, only max 11x with C2D:(

They are about to release a newer bios which unlockes the multi upwards as well.....PLUS some more Ram timmings....;)

The vcore ed the vmch setted to the max and a tornado 92mm on the chipset...:)

Damn man what heatsink is that. Is it keeping it cool enough? LOL...

Did anybody else running phase have an issue with the upper left mosfet heatsink. I had to squeeze the evap clamshell onto the socket in such a way that the mosfet heatsink no longer sits totally flat.

Im considering removing the whole multiple heat pipe/heatsink setup.

So adding a fan to the northbridge helped a bit huh? IIRC someone else gained like 10Mhz fsb just by using as5 on it. I wonder how water would wake up the chipset... REALLLLLY considering this board for a 6600 MAYBE 6700 setup, nice and watercooled.
