This is my current build and I would like to get this thing running at 3.2 GHz,

What do I have to set the FSB to, what voltages should I be using, how should the memory timings look, this machine will not be on 24/7 I am just looking for reliability and speed. Please point me in the right direction. I just built this system yesterday and this is my first build and it came out real nice. Here is a pic to get an idea:

what PCI vid card is that? and thats not HZ ram? what is it? i don't know if there is a difference when you put the ram in slot set 1 or 2.

For best performance without going crazy set the FSB to 400, Ram to DDR800(1:1) and processor multi to 8. For Vcore you will need to do testing to find what your cpu will work with. The other settings(NB, SB)should work fine at auto. Follow GSkill recomendations for timing and voltage.

Any boday else have any reccomendations for me, this is my first time overclocking so if anyone out there has a E6400 and the P5B Deluxe what are your settings, bios screen shots would be great. It seems the the multiplyer is locked on this chip also.

Oh and my memory is F2-6400CL4D-2GBPK ---DDR2 800 G.Skill

What's wrong with the suggestion given to you by Quest For Speed?

Multiplier is locked unless you select the option to unlock it, however with your setup is best to keep it at 8 and set the FSB to 400 = 3200MHz
CPU might need around 1.4/1.45v
You're not overclocking the memory so you could even leave it on auto.

400x11 wil give you better memory performance due to the tighter strap. Then raise your fsb in Windows using SetFsb or Clockgen.

Once you reach the right fsb & multiplier combo, should you jack up you memory ratio to the fastest it will run at, or is there an advantage to running your mem 1:1.?

For example, right now (based on recommendations from this forum), I'm running my e6600 at 390x9. My memory (Corsair 1Gbx2 PC-8500) will run at 4:5 without problem. Is that best? For my continuing OC education, can you add why or why not?

I hit 3.2GHz like I wanted to and i did it with these setting, let me know if this looks alright and how I should tighten this up because this is where I want to stay at, thanks for the help everyone!!

you could try lower vcore(you have nice temps though, which cooling?) and tightening the ram timings a bit. Which ram are you using?

I'm willing to bet you can achive that OC using next to stock Vcore. My E6300 did 3.23GHz using only 1.35Vcore set in BIOS, with Vdroop it was 1.297V. I think that RAM has timings of 5/5/5/15. Try those timings first, then while using SP2004 LARGE FFT test to test your ram, slowly creap your timings downwards. Change the first (5)/5/5/15 to 4/5/5/12 and test with SP2004 again.

On those g.skill threads they say to set it to the timings that I am currently using. 4-4-4-12 and I am using the 1:1 divider.

but I saw this on the strap guide in this forum:

So in this case 440x10 or 400x11? If me timings are the same which is better?

I agree. I got mine to 3.01ghz with 1.2875 Vcore on my P5B Deluxe. Surprisingly, all my other voltage settings (north-south bridges, etc) are all set at their lowest values as well with 0608 bios.

Now I don't know if I just got a really good chip, but I figure you could hit nice clocks with stock Vcore.

Still testing, so far I got to 520FSB. On 7 multiplier the temp goes in the 70's, need water cooling for 3500+MHz.

Mem: 2.4v
Vcore: 1.35v
FSB: 1.45v
NB: 1.65v
SB: 1.7v
ICH: 1.215v

Just completed my new build a few days ago and I've got things completely stable now at the settings below. I want to get more out of my RAM with it at 1:1. What voltages do you guys suggest changing in order to reach 3.6 ghz with a 450 fsb. I tried doing this with an increased cpu voltage but it keeps freezing right after the Windows XP load screen.

Current settings:

Core 2 Duo 6400 @ 3.4 (425 x 8)
G. Skill 6400PHU2 2GBHZ (1:1) 4-4-4-12
Asus P5B-D w/bios 0804 (no mods)

Memory: 2.15
VCore: 1.425 (1.4 effective)
FSB: 1.4
NB: 1.45
SB: 1.6
ICH: Auto

Your RAM is crapping out - exactly where my CAS 5 RAM does.

You already have enough vmem, the only thing to do now is relax the timings to 5-5-5-12 or 5-5-5-15. You should be able to get a bit further.
