I dunno...i read in other threads that "VMCH or CHIPSET VOLTAGE is PCI-EXPRESS VOLTAGE IN BIOS"Quote:

At last, I have broken the 4.5 Ghz wall. Actually I have gotten to 4.75 Ghz stable so far, so getting a little better. The stupid bios is really holding the board back. I can't go higher than 4.75 because Im at the highest voltage the bios will allow! I choose 1.58 but it really runs at 1.47-1.48 which just isn't enough for 5 Ghz stable :(.

I used 1.56vcore and 1.7 pcie. Super pi stable (12 sec) but not 3D stable. The cpu was idling@52c, lol. I think people having issues with the 360fsb wall should give the memory a good hard look as i have no problems. No issues@3.8ghz.
Changed my vga to MSI NX7950GX2 (borrowed from my friend)

My last try today...i can boot to FSB 450...but not stable...maybe tomorrow will try again....

Nice  is 430fsb Prime stable then? And what volts are you using for VCore and VMCH?
Thanks,
Suman
Alrighty then, up and running:banana:
You'll have to excuse my noobiness as this is my first Intel rig.
http://home.comcast.net/~phippy1/MSI.bmp
1.3vcore
2.0vdimm
Haven't touched the PCIX voltage.
One problem I'm having is that I cannot flash to the 714. Tried Award in dos and winflash and seems to hang. Any ideas?
Sorry for the small pic.
MSI 975x platinum V2 (7.00) with C2D E6400@400x8@1,34V
Managed to get it up to 400Mhz FSB without to much problems. Had to deform the fins on the northbridge cooling in order to get a fan attached because i burnt my fingers on it :P.
My G.skill HZ dont want to play with higher FSB (Haven't made any real efforts into it) but i don't want to push on with just a stock cooler anyways. running at 1:1 4-4-4-12@2,2V
Apperantly my CPU is 180 degrees celsius and my 12v rail delivers a whooping 0.10V o.0. Other than that my puter wont boot with reset or "restart"-option in windows and NCQ is disabled :(. Another prog. (Core temp beta) reports a CPU temp of around 60 degrees celsius which i believe is more correct so it's running a bit hot. Gonna make an investment into some heavy duty aircooling solution as soon as my wallet has recovered from the last hit :D.
only primed for 30 minutes and Supahpi delivers 1M decimals in 18,6 secs.
I have a strange thing going on and could use some help.
If I clock over 325fsb my w.d 160/300 (sata) hard drive will start to cycle about every 10 min.
Xp will boot fine and I can run games/benchmarks ect.,but it will hang (not crash) the program when the drive is being hit (like a record skipping). I can hear the drive click on right before it does this. I have all power saving settings off and I am not using Xp system restore.
I also"think" it was going on during a long bios setting (hd light went full on for about 35 sec.).
I backed down the fsb to 315 last night and did not notice it happening (but I did not get to play too long as it was late).
Any ideas?
vcore 1.35 v-ram 1.95
cpu temp 35c idle/ 45c load
e6300 x975x vr.2.01
7.14 bios.
2gig xms2
160gig/300 w.d. drive on sata 1 port.
x1900xt
Also my drive will run a faster HD Tach if I plug it into the Jmicron port (279 burst as to a 207 burst on the Intel sata1).
Not sure why.
Thanks

what is the PCIe and PCI bus set to?..if Auto, might want to lock in 100 PCIe and 33 for PCI...
Pcie at 100, I will check other tonight.
I still have time to rma stuff so I would like to get it solved soon.
It's tough all of my other pc's are amd non pcie, non sata so I can't swap stuff out:(
I think I have a bad piece of hardware causing a low overclock. Maybe I should rma the board before it's too late?
Thanks for the help.

Slowly getting better, lol. My goal is to get the 1m time of a stock conroe before I switch this CPU out for a conroe. I think I need 23-25secs for that?.

something you can do is set the FSB back to 300 to see if the problem continues....Quote:

My MB and E6600 is in the mail now, and I will not give up before I have 400 FSB, whatever it takes. Good job you guys have done so far.
Welcome to the forums mate. Dabs says the board is in stock but 1-2 days wait for the E6300.Quote:

And I just realise how unsignificant that option is.
JasonDTM, looks like you are in dos, does the multi unlock work in bios after? Tell us more, this is good stuff:stick:
I was using Modbin, and the option is enabled and hidden by default, when I get the board and eventually cpu and mem, I'll let you know. There is only 2 or 3 hidden options in the bios that I can see. They arent very significant. Could someone please explain to me SLP_S4# Assertion does?
You know whats funny...Everyone was crying about this board being crap. Now people are reaching FSB of 430. This on a immature BIOS and a 975 chipset.
If you consider that the highest FSB numbers we have seen so far on a 975 chipset are from the asus P5W DH which is on a more mature BIOS, this board is not bad at all. The numbers are almost the same and they can only get better.
The only board getting significantly better FSB numbers is the Asus P5b board which is a 965 chipset which does not support crossfire/sli.
So comparing it to other 975 chipsets I think this board is not as bad as everyone thought! In fact I'd say it is just as good as the Asus P5W and significantly less money!
I agree!
Im ok with the current OC of my board using the PD 950 (4.5-4.6 Ghz), AS long as MSI will release a better bios very soon. With the current bios, its just not as easy to OC as it is on the more mature boards. Anyway I am confident that MSi will fix the problem.
I'm pretty much stuck around 425 1:1 even with the new 714 beta. Pretty sure my board is limiting me beyond 430 as both my GSkill HZ and TeamXtreem cannot bench over 428. Though I will say my TeamXtreem is lightning fast compared to the HZ.
My stable OC is 421x8 1:1, I have a DS3 coming in a few days to compare. Maybe I'll find out its my e6400 but I doubt it as I only need 1.42v to make max OC stable.
I'm sure it is not your CPU. The E6400 has plenty in it with proper cooling.Quote:

Here are my settings.
Corsair xms2 2x1 gig ddr2 800 pc6400 (4-4-4-12) in slot 1 and 3.
I have timing set to 5-4-4-12 and its either set to 1.1 (at a 330fsb)
or 1.25 (at a 315 or lower fsb).
ram v=1.9
cpu v from 1.32 to 1.4
As far as the drive goes I now have it running on the jmicron sata/raid port (drive runs faster benchnmarks) and I will see if it acts up tonight on a higher fsb.
Also
Hard drive block mode is on.
What does the D.O.T. 3 setting do?
Thanks
