Dillema

I'm currently wondering since the 8800 GTS GTX is going to be out in the next 30 days supposedly and I'm running 7900 GTX SLI am I out of luck for running on my 975 chipset for now?

If so I am going to have to ditch SLI and just run a single 8800 GTX because I think performance is close to 2x7900GTX right now. Ultimately would rather do 8800 GTX SLI of course.

Anyone think it will be possible since it will require newest drivers?

I am here to tell you.. Nvidia is really in the market of making graphics cards too do this.... Make MONEY! I know, Its a shock, but its true..

If Nvidia released a SLI /w Intel Chipset...

1.) Who would buy Nvidia Motherboards.. cause they suck at O/Cing.
2.) No motherboard company would support Nvidia
3.) Nvidia would die..in the long run

Now once Nvidia releases its 680i, and if.. and only if.. its a good O/C. Then Nvidia might release Intel Drivers. But until they have the upper hand.. Nvidia has no reason to..

Being that I have waited 3 months for SLI support on Intel.. I have 2 choices.

Give in to Nvidia, by the 680i, and hope that its a solid overclocker..

OR... :banana::banana::banana::banana: Nvidia, and Get new ATI cards.. which will also suck cause they are now merged with AMD, and ATI will now run better with AMD.

Soo.. Nvidia customers that own Conroes... basically... are :banana::banana::banana::banana:ed until Nvidia deciedes to do something..

Complete: As we are in almost the same situation... I am also getting tired of waiting. I think I will give the 680i a chance even if the initial benches do not show that it is a really good OC.

Any rumors on if the 680i will at least do 390 FSB? That's all I really need my E6600 is pretty much at 3.5 with reasonable voltage and don't want to do 1.6v just to get 3.6 anyway.

I tell you though I've had 2 sets of nvidia chipsets now and both of them I didn't like, onboard raid wasn't as nice, drivers not as good, and BIG problem with my X-FI crackling that this 975 does not have. So much for Creative's BS about it being on Intel and Nvidia chipsets.

I shall not discuss "technical" details of the driver here. I have many reasons for it.
I mean that very difficultly to make it. I think if it was so simple, everyone would make it.
Is more exact to say that to make mod is very simply, but it is necessary to know what to make. :D
If you were engaged similar earlier, you can compare files of the original and modified driver... you can find this mod and you can make it with other drivers.

1) the SLI bridge is the flex ASUS bridge
2) Came with my A8N32-SLI
3) Not sure but it is for the video cards, but doesn't that board have a slot PCIex SLI connection?
4) Space is a bit more separated for the P5W I think than my A8N32-SLI was.

Trust me though without using that bridge in SLI there is definately a noticeable decrease not just synthetic but when I loaded a game there was a 12-14 FPS loss

I think if we took a poll most people here would contribute a donation to Big Sam, count me in on that donation. Can't actually "pay" him for it, but a donation is perfectly acceptable to do. Oh and I am referring to a cash donation of course.

I just tested the Doom3 demo and it works like a charm.
I am using the 85.96 mod drivers and no issues at all.

then we can say that the problem exisists only for P965 boards, like mine (Gigabyte DS4) :(

ccmarco: very possible... i had probs with 85.96 on ASUS P5B Deluxe, but its all goes just fine with 84.XX modded.

thanks, no this board has 2 pci-e 1x16 and 1x4, no sli but they've added crossfire support,

i'm running 2x bfg7950gt's in sli with big sam's 85.96 drivers which have worked well for me, no sli bridge, score 14,888 3dmark05

Big_Sam just to be sure i wanted to ask you. I can buy a cheap 7950GX2 but if i put this card on my P5W DH Deluxe can i just use any 91.XX drivers to use Multi GPU? Because i saw on the Nvidia site that the 7950GX2 is not compatible with the P5W DH DELUXE mobo. Hope to hear from you soon, and again keep up the good work :)

just to let everone know the sli bridge on the DFI NF4 SLI-DR is the perfect fit for the ASUS P5W64 WS PRO, the spacing between the PCIE slots is identical.

I have a friend running the 7950GX2 on his P5W DH board, he only had a slight issue with XFI and SCSI card conflicting IRQ, however he runs the latest Nvidia drivers and hasn't had any issues with it.

If anyone needs to update their game profiles in these older drivers then use nhancer as it has all the latest games support and is very tweakable.

Just load the program and BINGO! all the latest games are supported with SLI;)

actually you can. in the 680i bios you can disable cores. :)
