Here is the rig I just took a picture
http://www.aocb77.dsl.pipex.com/5800rig.jpg
The cpu heatsink is a Zalman 7000 with the original fan ripped out and a delta 80mm stuck on top. The whole board is also cooled bvy a Papst 6212nm 170mm fan which is the best fan I have ever used. It is so good I do not need a fan on the 5800 video card and that runs at 530/1180 in that state .. not bad for a " hot " chip.
I have the board placed on two 1cm thick neorprene mats, but there is a channel where the cpu is so that cold air from the Papst can go in through the IDE socket side of the motherboard, rush past the cpu bottom and then out by the USB ports, so the bottom of the cpu is cooled as well.
Then it's just waiting for cold air to arrive in the UK :) I did manage a 3Ghz pifast but that was when I was tunning in and only was using the 13 multiplier. http://www.aocb77.dsl.pipex.com/air3003pi1.jpg

Andy
3GHz is nice :D
got the same problem as you, mem wont go higher.
so im stuck at 2887mhz with mem at 262,5mhz
and going to multiplier 12x totally :banana::banana::banana:s up the mem bandwidth :(

IMHO you'd need 3GHz, sure. Maybe 3.05GHz for pretty sub-40 scoring ;)Quote:

Nice, we are quite close together with our estimating ;)
I managed sub 40 with just under 3Ghz

That would be nice :) I can bench here with water of 10 degrees @ 2880mhz with a newcastle.... I hope it will freeze 4 or 5 degrees....then a will have a watertemp of 0 degrees! maybe 2930 ~2950 will be possible...
cool :DQuote:

SAE had a faster PiFast score with his Socket A Athlon XP-M... but now I've finally beaten him with my watercooled A64 :)
It was very cold outside and the open door certainly helped ;)

The weak memorycontroller on my CPU didn't allow me to run my 2x512mb sticks of Gskill to take advantage of bank interleave.
So i had to make do with a single stick of 256mb BH-5.
2.95GHz is pretty nice for a watercooled CPU i'd say. :D
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...PiFast4223.jpg
The BH-5 is running 1:1 with only 3.39V :slobber:
I wonder if ther is any left--the heatspreader is still on and i'm only running a rather small BI micro II with a rather weak Eheim 1048.
I have a very nice Weapon heatercore + shroud and an Eheim 1250 waiting to be installed. :)
If only time was on my side....

Mate, your screen say "error in computation" , so it's not stable enough to calculate correctly. Either your RAM or Cpu could be failing here (I guess it's ram).

How can I get PIfast?? I tried the links in the first page, and none of them worked.
I'll get around to updating Pifast at some point, to support newer technologies :)
http://img.hexus.net/v2/rys/pifast/hexus_pifast.rar is where to get the current version, if the link on page one stops working.
