I have read somewhere said when overclocking 2500K/2600K bringing up the turbo multiplier , you need to leave speedstep, C1E enable, is this true ??
or I can disable them like overclocking the old I7 900's series.
10 min. Prime Screen and the Core Temp say 0° so fake screen?
Prime Custom with FFT's is not starting with 12k Test.
let me see 1.5h Prime Custom with FFT's then we will see ;)

If you dont like it tough...
Im pretty sure he didnt test all these 2600k's just to get a good 24/7 overclocking chip.
Dumo has done a LOT for this thread, and for overclocking in general for a lot longer than most any of us, and is a great asset to any forum he posts in. Judging by some of your previous posts, the same cannot be said for you.

It needs significantly more vcore than those 57Xs
Dunno about its IMC though, need more testing with more cold
So far....

Nice chip Dumo. IMC cant be too bad at all, it does 102+ bclk with ram up to speed, that is plenty high for benching.
That chip may be the gem you have been looking for when you get it colder. If not PM me, I know the perfect home for it.
Looks like some of these later chips are doing much better.
Hit aquamark with that setup asap

K series overclocking and voltage range recommendations
Quick Note regarding Voltage Scaling – Internal binning of both D1 and D2 parts we discovered consistent voltage scaling patterns.
1. For K series parts, the stock voltage supplied will allow for consistent overclocking generally up to a multiplier of 43x. There is potential for the multi to be raised to 44x depending on the load induced. This default voltage range be approx 1.240 to 1.260 under load.
2. Increased range between 44 to 47x multipliers will generally require a voltage range between 1.30 to 1.375V with an LLC recommended setting of high to ultra high.
3. Increasing the range between 48 to 50x multiplier will generally require a voltage range between 1.40 to 1.500 with a LLC recommended setting of ultra high.
4. Increased range between 50 to 52 (52 generally considered peak max multiplier except for rare 54x parts) will generally require a CPU voltage range between 1.515 to 1.535V with LLC at Ultra High and potential fine adjustments to the CPU skew range.
The results below are based on the range of the CPU turbo multiplier when overclocking.
Results are representative of 100 D2 CPUs that were binned and tested for stability under load; these results will most likely represent retail CPUs.
1. Approximately 50% of CPUs can go up to 4.4~4.5 GHz
2. Approximately 40% of CPUs can go up to 4.6~4.7 GHz
3. Approximately 10% of CPUs can go up to 4.8~5 GHz (50+ multipliers are about 2% of this group)
Additionally it is recommended to keep 「C1E」and「EIST」option enabled for the best overclock scaling. This is different than previous Intel overclocking expectations where the best scaling was with disabled power states or power management options.
Update specific to D2 and retail parts: Jan 11 2001
As always ASUS strives to be at the forefront of performance and functionality offered by a quality bios. Keeping this in mind ASUS has been actively working in conjunction with Intel to optimize overclocking potential on ASUS P8P67 motherboards and K series CPUs. With the latest bios revisions ( 1000 series ) or 600 series for ROG specific optimizations have been made to the microcode and corresponding tables that relate to D2 and retail parts. These are improvement are in addition to general improvements in all respects. Present with this new build of the UEFI is a new option. This option / value is “ Intel PPL Overvoltage” this option furthers multiplier scaling considerably.* In addition due to the increase in scaling more exotic forms of cooling cannot be used and will be needed under certain multiplier ranges and corresponding voltages. The general maximum range for the highest performing dual fan air based heastinks still remains 50x to 52x.

Also guys, I have been benching my Asus P8P67 EVO with all voltages other than vcore and vdimm left at default, which if any will help stability at high overclocks?
andres and friends - my current 2600K can complete superPi 1mb at 56x with 1.63v but it needs near that to pass 3D at 5400 and 1.575v at 5200, is this common? Should I keep looking for a better one? Or just up the volts as needed for benching? How far can you go for benching on water before there is a big chance of killing the cpu?
well thats very nice my current 55x does the same at your same volts...and for 5400HT 3D bench didnt test this yet but my x54 one needs 1,62 for 3DM11 and 1,58 for 3DMVANTAGE---its ok while temps are good i guess that if you keep pushing on this volts will degrade a bit either way but not that big deal...i use my chips for benching to have some fun and 24/7 at 5GHz then. I would be happy with yours :)
cheers !

Does anyone know if these rams will run decently on P67:

Corsair Dominator GT CMGTX1 DDR3 (2x2GB) 2400mhz 9-11-9-27-T1
Picked up a chip today, Batch# 3101A104. Max multi is 56x. Havent done any testing yet, need to get it colder to try 8 threads. Also need to update my CPUZ, vcore set in bios is 1.55v LLC2.
^Thanks. It looks like there are some good Costa Rica chips. Dumo got a few real good ones.
This chip does better with HT enabled than my others. WPrime 1024m at 5605mhz.
You need a cpu with good bclk overclocking ability to be able to do 2300MHZ memory on sandy bridge platform. The memories can, but u must have a cpu and a mobo able to do that too.
PSC is verry good memory for P67, and Corsair Dominator GT CMGTX1 DDR3 (2x2GB) 2400mhz 9-11-9-27-T1 are between the higher binned PSC chips. I think you'll like them.
2300 was a speculative figure, just to try BCLK overclocking at 2133 ram multi so 2200-2250 is more realistic (thats 103-105 Mhz BLCK). there is no way I would get to 2300 (107 BCLK but it would be good to know your not ram limited). So which PSC rams would be better than those?
Cheers.
Thanks kagula.
Finally able to break 40k in 3DM06 with a single GPU. http://i54.tinypic.com/2cqi8gm.jpg
Yeah mate good stuff, I would love to try your cpu with my 1045mhz gtx580.
My latest 2600K can do 1mb pi at 5650 but I cant get it 3D stable above 5300 or so ... 54x fails no matter what I do.... :shakes:
I had another one that could run 55x 2D but 5250 max 3D, anyone else having these problems?
;)
Thanks guys!
Nice work Nub, I have the same card with a EK supreme block in one of my systems that really cranks also. That 06 CPU score is sweet, pushing 12K is respectable for Sandy.
Hi all
After some years on core2 e8400 i jump to sandy 2600k today and after some tests i get stable 4.2 ghz with 1.240v load cpu voltage and 1.22v on idle.Should i consider my cpu good ?Attachment 117459
i7 2600k tested with the version posted: only 2 cores and no HT, it reached 50x multi with 1.4 vcore full windows boot and working in it. Also on stock intel cooler, until I can set up my watercooling loop (Swiftech HF waterblock, dual DDC Pumps with watercool cover, 360 rad). So can I assume the chip is good right?
I dont dare to go a lot in becouse of the cooling, it still hangs idle at like 50ish and in partial load 60-70. (25 ambiant)
ps:
# setup is ASRock Fatality and 8 GB RAM Corsair 1600 Mhz CL8

guys, how much would a 58x-60x chip actually cost? I'd even pay 850 for one of those beauties :D
btw awesome chips you have guys :D
you can go up to 1000 for x60
No never seen that, even an x57 :/ We 'll see lot of x55+ when IB come out :D and not @ $1K :D
has anyone noticed much degradation in their 2600K? My latest one is still fine at lower clocks but seems to need more and more volts to pass at 5200-5300 and I cant even complete a bench at 54x anymore (it will Pi at 56x)....
:(
Answers to this would be great too....
Also- on my last two o/s installs my AI suite shows BCLK at 4.2mhz and wont accept any adjustment.... what causes this and what is the fix?
:)
My 2600K is uber stable on air at 5300mhz and 3Dmark06 passed and vantage and more :)
Vcore only 1.62 :ROTF:waiting for my gtx 580 will arrive on post office
 im post 666 its the number of Evil :D
i don't know what the weathers like where you are at thye moment but if its a bit warmer than it was that can do it its warmer here and all my linx stable settings lock up after a while but the ambient temp is about 5 degrees celsius more than it was so i'm guessing thats why
At 55x around 1.55v, for 56x 8 threads 1.62v.

55X max multi into windows 7 (have screenshot)
56X got to windows options but froze at windows loading screen
57x was a NO GO for any windows options
Overall not a bad little chip. Its kinda funny, but apparently i can boot into my BIOS at any cpu speed including 6.4ghz, not sure how im able to do that?
EDIT: I should add these results were very quick and dirty, all on air cooling, 1.59V, i didnt mess with BCLK at all, all 2 core enabled
If it makes it to windows load screen at 56 but crashes it just needs cold.
Does bios screen say 6.4ghz ?
ok so 56X would be the max multi on this chip?
yeah I actually took a picture of it with my camera, its says 6.4ghz and all my other options stuck as well
Is there settings that need special attention to get the benefit of cold? I have had three 54x cpu's that all dropped in multiplier when I tried my SS.
(I checked all my temps and the SS maintained -33C at the head........with a probe right next to cold plate)
From the EVGA Claassy thread somebody went to a 1500W PSU and beat the cold boot problem with a 970. Is that a good route to go (COST is )
(Got two "better" chips now tho....I hope:up:)
Its weird that your chip will boot to bios at 64x. Its hard to say if 56x is the max but Id say yes. Try dropping bclk to say 99 and see if it boots, or raise bclk t
o 102 with 55x multi.
One chip I use has a max multi x56 normally, but it has booted at x57 when I was able to get it cold enough on water. It runs best though with x54 and bclk at 104. The chip has a strong IMC, it passes 32m at 108.7 bclk. The other x56 chip i use runs best using the x56 multi, and runs the same max mhz with HT enabled, just needs a little more vcore to use HT, but passes WPrime and 3DM06 CPU test no problem.
They all act different, its best to try different multipliers and find the sweet spot for your chip IMO. Some will run higher mhz using a lower multi, some wont do high bclk and run best with the max bootable multi, Im guessing this is IMC related but its just a guess.
Another chip I had (but killed) was a x57 that I was able to boot at x58 when dropping bclk to 98-99. I was hoping to get it to run x58 for benching with dryice, but its been hot and humid, and I think condensation killed it doing my first dryice run.
Ask Dumo, he runs SS, but I think he had a chip that had a cold bug above +0c. Dont think there is a setting that will help with cold bug.
Raising system agent voltage will help some when maxing out the chip and meory, I hadnt tried it but Dumo suggested it and it did help on P67. On this Z68 though it runs at default just fine.
Did a little LN2 run with my 56 multi 2600K yesterday on a GB UD4, had to struggle to get the bclk up cause the UD4 only allows steps of 0.5 at a time.
The chip has a wall at 5650 MHz at 1,62 vcore but can bench everything at that speed.

It seems the flurry of results here has died down, are you guys still buying-and-trying to find a golden chip? Im tempted to grab another one and try again, but its such a lucky dip and its hard to sell used chips here.
:(
My chip does superPi at 5650/1.65v on water but wont pass 3D at anything over about 5250, would cold help this chip out?
:)
Has anyone found that any paricular motherboard , or Z68 chipset helps these clock? Or is it all in the cpu?
:)

i had 2 costa rica batches...1 POST at x55 and booted to ONLY SPI in windows at 5500 with 1,644 straight from bios, the other 5600 but just POSTS imposible to enter windows as its beyond that on volts...for me such chips are useless, i still got my good all x54 wich i can be stable and bench at propper volts, so finding a x56 that can be benchable at around 1,62 will be awesome, still i didnt find one and i guess never as it understable that most ppl that find these batches are keepers
cheers

A little more info on my batch...3109C384 (My Frys has more of this batch, maybe I should bin a couple)
Highest multi with PLL disabled, booting into windows 7 64...51X
So apparently on my ASUS mobo OC settings arent initialized till after boot screen, which is awesome...you will always be able to boot to bios to change settings that fail, no more waiting till the board resets. FYI: I was able to boot to bios with a multi of 200x
Thanks OC Nub for that good info :)
Has anyone tried an Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z yet? How is drop/droop on these?
:)
Strong little board, loadline works great :D

Any sb chip that can go at least 5999Mhz on good air cooling deserve to be tested with subzero:)
57X is impossible to attain even with high end air cooling and gem cpu
Why my i7 2600K OC 4.4GHz in LinX and Intelburntest Gflops output so low compare to others ?
Memory speed is 1600MHz (8-8-8-24)

I don't have SP1 install, but I feel kind a low for that 4.4GHz OC
EDIT: Installed SP1, everything seems fine
For comparisons sake, is 4.5Ghz @ 1.312 volts on air fairly decent? I'll post some screenshots later tonight.
@icecpu
Linx gives a lower score when HT is enable and yet You have no AVX Linx
wich 3D ? mine passes 5400HT on 1,62 water for 3DM11 and 1,59 for vantage, how come u cant pass 3D with such chip, 3D eat lots of volts at least on my tests...
my other x55 only SPI but passes 1,644 same 3DM11

Can you change BCLK by more than 0.5 without the board resetting it self? I've tested both UD4 and UD5 and they both locks up if I increase the BCLK by more than 0.5 before I save and reboot.
yes no problem here guess its a good UD7 B2
sometimes do that but she goes into windows

pd: im very sorry for what happened there mate
sergio - I dont know why, it wont pass any 3D bench above maybe 5300 absolute max and it needs like 1.65v for that yet it will Pi at 1mb 5650 1.63v .... it just reset on me running 3D11 extreme at 5276 .... ffs ... I might try a different mobo and see what happens.
:(
Easy, everything is default other than ram speed and voltage, multi to set in os, multi itself and vcore.... LLC Ultra high (second highest - seems to cause no overvolting)
54x100 just failed with 1.65v in it .....
I have been trying to work out why my 3D11 gpu score had dropped by 3-400 points, I tried all different settings but I just got them back, I dropped my ram speed (2133 Mushkin) to 1600, so my physics and combined are down but gpu is up again .... it seems lke my mobo doesnt like my new rams ....
:(
