Got my RMA from G.Skill
Burned a DVD... Done! Perfectly Working! No problems whatsoever :woot::woot::woot::woot::woot::woot:
Man...you got that RMA back already, I'm still waiting on my mobo from Asus.
For a moment I thought they were not going to send me anything with the nice comment I left on newegg :D
Hi!..
Does anyone have enable the Sli-ready for memories, without disabling the FSB e.t.c. menu...?...
With 0901 bios..
From Anandtech :
SLI-Ready Memory - [Disabled, CPUOC 0% ~ CPUOC 5%, CPUOC MAX] Leave this setting on Disabled when manually overclocking memory. Selecting any other option will set DDR3-2000 memory operation - we were unable to measure any difference between any of the "CPU OC x%" options. Make sure you either manually adjust your memory timings or leave them on "Auto" if you plan on overclocking your memory this way.
Basically any serious overclocker disables this.
Even if you don't want to overclock, I suggest setting your main timings and frequencies manually, same goes for your Memory voltage.
Greetz
I always hated that function, SLI memory. I have that disabled in my 680i.
0901 + 1002 don't work for me...the screen starts flickering after some time of gaming and system freezes but winamp keeps playing :D
Well sorry I cant help for now, I cant overclock, I forgot to mount a fan on my Ultra120X LOOOOOOL! and Im too lazy to put it now that Im finally using my system after 2 weeks LOOOOOL!
I will just wait til I get my blocks, pump etc.
Btw, thx cyberghost :D
So of course. . . what happens after I write this and sell my second GTX 280? Of course! Turbine fixes the SLi issue with LotRO without a word after letting it sit unacknowledged for about a year.
Gah! I'm actually glad they fixed it. But what a hassle. I'm so dumb that I sold a perfectly good card and now had to buy a new second GTX 280.
This is what I get for my impatience and indecisiveness.
My P5E3 will be the one being sold now. :D
0901 and 1002 are working fine for me. Same 1702 L&S settings I have been using since 7 series bios.
I tried to go to 1760 and 1780 with 0901 but failed. have not tried to OC beyond 1702 with 1002 yet.
Anyone experience netwrok problems after OC attempts...I have the network teaming setup and I connect to my computer from remote so I set the network cards to "allowed to wake computer" in device manager. Getting the computer to sleep and stay a sleep with these setting is the stuff of MAGIC. It seems some new driver installs...like new X-FI card drivers for example screw up the network setup in that the computer refusues to stay a sleep(it'll wake up after anywhere from 1min to 10mins). Usually I have to uninstall the network drivers again and reinstall(although that doesn't always work). Anyways back to my point I have my system all setup and working perfect with 175.19 video and 9.64 nforce + 15.17 nforce network drivers only. Sleeps eveytime..stays a sleeep no crashes etc. I decide to try attemping to get a higher OC than 1702 with the 0901 bios...so I put the memtest disc in reboot and start playing with the bios settings. I blow it up a few times with some bad combos..memtest goes green screen or just frezzes etc. Never once did I attempt to boot to Vista. Finally I give up as I can't get anything better than 1702..go back to my old settings a boot to OS. Now bam..computer won't stay a sleep again. What a PIA..is it even possible OC attempts can screw up the network drivers. I don't see how but it appears that's what happened. If not I have to look for another related cause.
I'm back!!!
My Turbo Cool arrived this morning, and my tri-sli system is up and running at last.
My fourth S2E is up and running, and is as stable as the last two I have had. The EVGA board was a real disappointment and went back on a RMA.
Just about to do a reinstall of Vista to clean everything up!! :D
Thats great to hear Tyke
(you never answered me the turbo function lol)
Anyways, the striker II is such a great board when it works. Finally the dream of watching movies and burning DVDs with this board are finally real! (wow such basic things make you crazy)
Im pretty sure boards with SLI problems after 0901, 15.17 and 177.40 ARE DEFECTIVE so if anybody experiences that, please RMA to ASUS. It will take just 2 weeks :)
You're exactly right. To top it all off look what I've just ordered for myself, delivery tomorrow, to replace my Dell24"!! Gaming heaven.
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/200...0-widescreen/1
Congrats man, glad you sorted it out. Now play and play hard ;). Btw, when you set up your WC stuff, think of using teflon tape for all the barb threads, will help to prevent leakage from there big time. :)
Tyke thnx for the reply, will keep it in mind when I'm on the next GPU shopping spree. Use a 27" Samsung here as well and yes...bigger IS better.:up::D
Asus RMA...HTFU!!!
Guys,
got a problem with a build here. Striker 2 Extreme with 2x2GB of OCZ Reaper DDR3-1600 CL7 mem.
I've done a few S2E builds the past months and never had any problems with them, but this one is really starting to piss me off.
Basically it just hates the mem, won't post half the time but hang at "memory testing" message. When it does start it freezes in Windows, during memtest and during any 3D app after 5-15 minutes.
With some settings the SATA controller seems to crap out too, e.g. when I want to run FSB 400 and mem unlinked it will say boot device failure without even searching for a boot record. If I set to 1600 linked sync it acts as if nothing happened, but still freezes. FSB 1333 linked sync seems stable but what good is that. Set timings manually to 7-7-7-24 2T, increaed vNB up to 1,6V (mobo is watercooled and I even replaced that crappy Asus pad under the northbridge with MX-2, so temps are good), set Vdimm to 1,9V, nothing.
Never seen the S2E crap around like that before, I guess I'm fighting incompatibility here. Already contacted OCZ for an SPD update, maybe that'll help.
Tried bioses 0902 and 0804 (latest 2 official ones), do they both suck by any chance?
System specs are E8500/S2E/2x GTX 260 SLI/WD Velociraptor/Amacrox (FSP) 750W PSU
There was a known issue with 1600QDR/400FSB and I believe it still exists with even the recent BIOS versions. I for sure can't run my QX9650 stable @400x10 for 4GHZ, So I am currently @ 445x9 for 4GHZ with absolutely no issues so far(10 hours priming/10 hours OCCT and currently running F@H). So try increasing your FSB a tad like 402/1608. It used to work with the S2E that I bricked, but I haven't tried it with the replacement that I got.
Thx. Yes I am looking forward to gaming on this thing, the reviews are awesome. Only thing is I have just got Crysis playable a 1920 X 1200 on my tri-sli, hope it is OK at 2560 x 1600!!! My wife can't believe I've just dropped over £1500 on a monitor, so it better be good. I was never that impressed with my Dell Ultrasharp 24".
Funny, I already built 2 rigs with a QX9650 and S2E that ran 400*10 perfectly :D
The issue here isn't just one of those darned FSB holes, as problems happen with all combinations of FSB/ramspeed I have tested so far, except the 1333/1333 linked sync stock setting. Bios defaults is even unstable lol. I wanted to run FSB 1700 (= 4Ghz on the E8500) and 1600 mem like it's rated, but like I said no go. Stock FSB and 1600 mem isn't possible either :(
The NEC 30' is sweet but the one thing it doesn't have is a built in scaler. The new Dell and the Gateway(I'm using) 30's have internal scalers. In the case of the gateway it uses the HQV realta scaler which is considered in home theater circles to be the best on the market. It's really not an issue if you can run everything at 2560x1600, but for lower res the scaler gives you a wicked picture at non native resolutions. I'll bet the picture on the NEC will kick the Dell and Gateways tho.
It looks great at 1920 X 1200, just been running Crysis at that resolution. In Windows the text is really sharp. Apart from Crysis everything else will be standard resolution anyway, which believe me is awesome!! Tried NVidia scaling and the picture looked worse when playing Crysis, so it must be scaling well. According to all the reviews and comments I have seen, the scaling is outstanding on this monitor.
Have a look at this review where he says the scaling is the best on the market:
http://nec3090wqxi-test.blogspot.com/
My board overvolts RAM and Vcore (and probably others). If I set RAM @ 1.86 in BIOS, I get 1.91 real. If I set 1.9 (trying to go to 1700FSB from 1600) I get hardware failures in Prime blend almost immediately. Drop it back to 1.86....so far so good for an hour or two. So, maybe try less voltage:shrug:
I don't think OCZ and S2E play well together anyway....I've been through 4 kits and still fighting....1600EB 2 x 2, blue or white slots.
Which RAM did you use for QX9650 400 x 10 on S2E?
Good luck.
I also hate that overvoltage problem. Seriously, you only need 2.0 to squeeze that last Mhz of the RAM and then you realize you are actually giving the RAM 2.04 and so degrading the ram.
Sad to hear NVDA is exiting the chipset business. Does anyone know if this board is being discontinued? Will it still be supported?
Mine has become very stable after the RMA and 0901. I have only had one freeze in like 3 weeks now.
Still I think I would actually look forward to an Intel Nehalem chipset that has SLI enabled on it. :D
yea I just read this article....
http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquir...-pulled-makers
Guess we will see what we see..
Finally get it stable and now this....
It better get supported for at least two more years. I would love new nForce drivers as well as a 6001 BIOS xD
I really think it has all been blown out of proportion!
PC Perspective takes a look at the rumor mill...
UPDATE: NVIDIA sent along their official response to the Digitimes news:
1. The story on Digitimes is completely groundless. We have no intention of getting out of the chipset business.
2. In fact, our MCP business is as strong as it ever has been for both AMD and Intel platforms:
1. Mercury Research has reported that the NVIDIA market share of AMD platforms in Q2 08 was 60%. We have been steady in this range for over two years.
2. SLI is still the preferred multi-GPU platform thanks to its stellar scaling, game compatibility and driver stability.
3. nForce 790i SLI is the recommended choice by editors worldwide due to its compelling combination of memory performance, overclocking, and support for SLI. In fact, a recent article on Tom’s Hardware recently came to the same conclusion: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...I,1977-29.html
3. We're looking forward to bring new and very exciting MCP products to the market for both AMD and Intel platforms.
That could be damage control on nVidia's part, but personally I don't think so.
Ya I noticed OCZ sticks sometimes don't like too high voltage. Set Vdimm to 1.84V in bios which is around 1,9V real.
400x10 with the QX9650 rig was with OCZ Reaper 1333 CL6 4GB kit, that one's working very good. Even got 1T to run stable with enough vNB.
Well, I finally got FSB 1700 to work ok, now trying mem unlinked again. Found a divider for ~1500 mem that seems to work, 1h prime blend and so far no sign of freezing. Giving ~1,55V vNB tho which is way too much for that speed, lol.
Bios 0902 seems to be really buggy, for example if I reduce the E8500's mult down to 9x it says 9x at post and in bios, but in reality it's still 9.5
Wondered why prime failed after 2 mins, then saw the CPU was at close to 4,3Ghz instead of 4,05 :D
Good CPU that is tho, 2min prime at 4,3ghz and 1,35V is great :D
I too have noticed some sort of "hole" around 400/1600fsb. At least for my board. If I can get into Windows, everything seems good and stable. However, once every five restarts or so, I just get a blank screen and no POST. Hitting the reset button brings it back at fail-safe speeds via OC crash recovery mode.

Mobo is on its way back to me from RMA!!
Hey guys to chime in on things a bit. I recently did a custom build flashed to bios 0901 out the box '0402 default' and using some GTS ic 2x2gig kits we found local the board just flew
8-7-6@ddr1800
7-6-6@ddr1770 both at 1.92v in the bios and even ddr1900 for dual 32m at 8-7-6
so just something to try and look for on 4gig kits
even had some fun with 8-7-6 with 8gigs installed at ddr1800 so bascialy find the right ram for the build and It helps alot with this chipset/board

Yep this board is extremely picky about the RAM(read the IC chips on 'em)
I have the same problem, however, that is when running at 1815 mhz linked and synced when trying to use lower voltages and different GTL values.
So to me it seems more like an undervolt problem or too high GTL change then a problem with the Bios ...
But I could be mistaken.
Do you run SLI? Because at 1st I thought it might had to do something with the SLI, since I just recently put my second 8800GTS back in the rig.
Greetz
Yah there is still a FSB hole at 1600, 1605 works ...
I find 0901 and 1002 fine bioses, and better then all the rest.
About the RAM, I had alot of memory issues, 1st with Corsair RAM then with OCZ 1600 7-6-6-24 RAM ( the ones from my sig ). However, after testing and trying I came to the simple conclusion the RAM was faulty.
I tested everything with MEMTEST86 and it would not give any errors, but once I tested with Memtest for Windows it found the errors.
I bought a second pair of the same OCZ RAM and no problems at all.
So I returned my 1st pair to the shop and got a replacement set.
So my 1st advice would be to try memtest for windows and let it run at least 300% ( it is 32 bit, so if you have 4GB of RAM you will need several instances to cover all the RAM, and you need to keep some RAM free for the OS :p )
Here is a link for the memtest : http://hcidesign.com/memtest/
greetz
Uhm, you mention Bios 0902 ... I never seen a Bios 0902 ... I suppose that is just a typo?
And yes, OCZ does not like overvoltage, that means beyond the allowed overvoltage ...
My OCZ RAM is default rated 1,9v but the warranty supports 1,95v I put in the BIOS 1,94v and that results in 1,96v average ( it goes from 1,95v to 1,97v ) if I got any higher then that I will get problems.
greetz
This must be a different NEC than the one I checked out 6 months ago. The article does say scaler..but it's very vague. There are no additional inputs other that DVI so the scaler would only be useful for off res DVI. I sometimes hookup my xbox360 for system link when the some friends drop by, you need component or HDMI video for this and the scaler does a wicked job there.
Regardless it's a beautiful monitor, if you can afford it and have the horsepower to drive it 30' is the only way to fly IMO. I could never go back now.
Yes I also liked that a lot!
Even the Mysterious motherboard (Dreadnought DUH) wasnt at the performance of the ASUS :D
But is true, only eVGA, XFX and ASUS are currently offering 790i boards.....
Nice to hear, so you will finally get that system done? :D
Hello all,
im kinda new on this forum, im Bob 20 years old and 3 months ago i had a new beast of a computer :)
my set up is this
XQ9650
ASUS Striker II Extreme
Asus 8800GT
OCZ PC3-10666 ReaperX HPC Enhanced Bandwidth
tagan 700 watt
150 gb raptor
750 gb f1
cosmos S
its all cooled by a watercoolin set
XSPC DELTA block
XSPC 360 radiator
swiftech res,
liang pump
and i connected the waterblock standart mounted on the mobo,
it's not the best WC on the market atm but it only cooles my xq9650 so its fine.
i overclocked and and watercoolin back in the athlon XP days so some things are quite new for me :)
a long time i had was kinda busy and i didnt get the 0402 bios up to a new one but yesterday i tried it with that asus upgrade and it worked :)
i have a few questions,
with speedfan and asus probe my processor is iddle 21(now atm while typin this) degrees, and with coretemp it says : 35 50 50 42.
if coretemp is right there is a big gap between the cores, wich do i have to beleave?
Question 2, there are in a qaudcore 3 kind of voltages u can change
CPU vcore
CPU PPL
CPU VTT
does someone has a guide/link/can tell me what does stand for and what are safe value's for 24/7 use
i would like to als know the safe value's of the mobo
yesterday i tried a little of overclocking, trhowed all the voltage's a little up tied 3.46ghz and when i start prime @ the same moment it starts it fails :)
are there any must have tweaks in the striker 2 extreme bios?
this all is writhn by a dyslectic dutchmen,so pls read along as though the faults are not there.
ty!
Hi been lurking thru this thread for a bit now while waiting for one RMA after another finally got my setup running enough to load windows. Before this it was either a bad bios flash or bad RAM both took quite a while to RMA since i had to send them back to the US.
Slim was just wondering where i could get 15.17+177.40 drivers you mentiond?
Very sad to hear about the board. I hope they figure something out before they kill SLI.
Read the article about Striker II extreme @ Anandtech.
http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=3283
This is a good place to start
Finally...100% stable @4.05GHhz. 19540 3DMark06 score, not bad for a pair of old 1 1/2 year old GPU's. It surely involved lots of patience and tweaking, but at least I didn't have to go through the ever so popular RMA process..phew. Ram upgrade did help as per Fusion2000's suggestion, gotta say I like the new kit.
Cheers. :up::D
Very nice to see some good results. How much Vcore did it take to get stable? I'm struggling.... 1.5 volts and I still cant pass Prime 95. I have a feeling I have a bit of a dud as far as a processor goes. I've kind of just decided to be content with the fact that prime 95 isnt stable.
Sorry lads, should have posted them up earlier. Voltages are currently being fine tuned but so far here's how it stands as we speak:
FSB:1800Mhz 9x450 - Linked & Synced
Vcore:1.4875V (Bios) 1.456V (CPUz)
PLL:1.60V
VTT:1.30V
MEM:2.00V
NB:1.58V
SB:1.60V
LLC: Enabled
GTL REF 0: -.29V
GTL REF 1: -.32V
GTL REF 2: -.32V
GTL REF 3: -.29V
Memory: P1 & P2 - Enabled 7-7-7-20 2T (Rest on auto)
Temps: CPU Idle 32C CPU Load 65C GPU1 Idle 35C GPU2 Idle 36C GPU1 Load 46C GPU2 Load 47C NB Idle: 48C NB Load: 55C SB Idle: 46C SB Load: 54C
CPU Config: All Disabled except for the following - CPU Temp Control [Auto] All cores [Enabled]
Spread Spectrum: All Disabled.
As always the rule of thumb, these settings may or may not work for all so use them as reference only. Every other setting that I haven't mentioned above is on AUTO. So far for now everything is smooth, no SLI lockups or corruption issues, OCCT, Mem tests & Prime stable. Gonna sit back and enjoy the ride...for now.;):D:up:
I think I'm going to give your voltages a shot tonight.... Also noticed your core temps are quite a bit lower than mine, quite possible that my water block isnt mounted tight enough. My core temps are around 60C full load.
Wow, 1.4875 vcore with LLC . I guess I have a pretty decent Qx9650 here which can do 4GHZ @ 1.375 vcore with LLC enabled, would be interesting after I put in on water. If only I could decide going Rampage extreme or P5N64 PRO... ARGH. Also, it looks pretty stable after going 2 hours of gaming(FEAR). I had a lockup but I guess it was due to the GFX card OC. I brought it down to stock and so far so good.
Yes it seems yours is pretty Vcore friendly, so far I've backed it down to 1.475 and it's pretty stable there as well. Not much of a power cut by any means but even on 1.450 it fails Prime.
Either way the temps aren't alarming me and there are no hiccups so I gotta keep on trucking with these settings for now. It's usually a lottery when it comes to what requirements these CPUs need that's for sure.
P.S. NB dropped to down 1.56V as well, rest are as is.
Yeah your lucky... I always worry that I'm on the verge of frying my CPU using 1.5v 24/7
Just out of curiosity, have you tried those settings with 9.5 or 10 multi? In my perfect world I'd like to see 4500mhz stable
Just ordered an E8600. Can't wait to get it so that I can see how far I can take the wolfy and the board FSB wise.
I looked over your settings and the only thing I noticed way different from my voltages were the GTL ref's and the PLL. I tried your settings and Its appearing I'm able to start bringing down my Vcore. It seems stable so far at 1.475. I'm going to run Prime 95 a little longer to make sure. This would be awesome.
An important notice, reseating the heatsink city WILL void your warranty. ( officially )
But if your carefull and dont break anything you will be fine.
I already RMA'd a board with reseated heatsink and got a new one np.
greetz
So now an update on my OC :
1815 synced isnt stable after all, that means after 4 hours prime 95 small FTT will fail. I am pretty sure it is a CPU issue, but I am high on volts as it is ( CPU @ 1,45v / VTT @ 1,38v / PLL @ 1,64 ), so I left it at that and went back to 8GB RAM testing.
I finally got a breakthru, I have a glimpse of stability at 1707 synced with 9-9-9-26-2T with P1 and P2 on Auto, as soon as I Enable P1 and P2 I crash before being able to boot in windows.
I have CPU @ 1,40v / PLL @ 1,62v / VTT @ 1,40v
Note that I havent touched GTL yet in this config, so I hope to bring down that VTT still.
As soon as I get Prime95 stable for a few hours I will report back :p
Greetz
It's like I read your mind, went to Anand right after the first post and went back into the settings for some more tweakage. Both sticks are in the white slots, reduced the clocks to 1T and tightened up the timings as per an article I read where they achieved stability with more aggressive timings, followed by a few adjustments in the advanced settings and now we're getting somewhere:
I'll have to do some everest checking, I followed anandtech as well, I hope I'm somewhere in that ballpark. I have started putting up some decent numbers on HWbot, so I cant be too far off.
I've seen reviews where 4 X 1GB gives better results than the equivalent speed 2 X 2GB. I am really tempted to pick up 4 sticks of the memory you have, and try it in 4 slots. I tried this with 4 X 1GB of OCZ 2000MHz memory and it was a disaster, but the Corsair seems to love this board.
I still go back to that Anandtech review: 4GB of OCZ at 2000MHz!!! I know the 1800MHz Dominator can reach 2000MHz, so is it worth a try with four sticks? Has anyone already tried it?
I am almost tempted to snag another set as well ;). But I think I'm going to hold out for now until I hear of some results. After a few hours of stress testing it seems these particular sticks are more stable at 7-6-6-18 rather than 7-6-5-18. Would get lockups otherwise. Still reads @ 12300+ so I think I'm pretty content for now.
Goin' on a tweak break so I can get back to life, this stuff sucks up ALOT of time and it's fun so you don't even feel it, glitches & all. :D:up:
Thank you for the heads up as well Tyke, cheers.:)
I tried going to 2000, but It seemed that my everest scores went down rather than up. I think I need to get a new version of everest though. There is a nice writeup of the Corsair Dominator 1800 RAM on Anandtech. I believe it is in their roundup. When I tried their timings/frequency I really didnt notice a difference on Superpi. Fastest Superpi scores were set at 1800 7-7-7-20 1T
I have the 4GB DDR3-2000 OCZ kit and I got like 12.5K read(I think) when I ran it with my E3110.I think I posted the results like 2 pages back in this thread. I can also do 2000 with my QX9650 but unliked and the performance is worse than lined/synced @ 1780.I also passed memtest and booted into windows @ 1900 linked/synced, but as soon as I enable P1/P2, it's not booting. Currently I am trying to test the my 8800GTX SLI and 8800GT SLI.
EDIT: Woot they just shipped my E8600, should be here by thrusday
Here is my memory benchmark, with TRRD1, trc 29 twr 10, tfaw 29 under the advanced memory timings
http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/9710/everestfp6.jpg
Wow, my score was 8200MB/s reading with 9-11-11-24 2T all rest on auto @ 1600Mhz with P1 and P2 on Auto.
Now I have it at default 7-7-7-18 1600Mhz with P1 and P2 on auto with Custom Advanced Settings and this is how it increased
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/5066/asdasdza9.png
Now is time to enable P1 and P2 and see how high this goes :D (+11k for sure)
Thx Tyke, I really missed the Anandtech memory part that explains advanced settings, with some little changes, it can help you boost that score!
Hi Slim, its really good when you get something like that which gives you a nice performance boost. :up:I have just ordered 4Gb (2X2GB) of CSX Diablo 2000MHz Ram with the extreme cooler. Should be here in a couple of days. I have just tried my memory at 1800MHz in the blue slots at the same timings, and I get errors in Memtest. This is the fourth board I have had and so far no go with 1800MHz in the blue slots, I will see if all four slots work when the Diablo arrives.
I am about to say something amazing about the PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 1200W, but I am just going to test a bit more...;)
See you soon.
What will be the MAX safe voltage for NB on this board? .. I´m on air and reaplied TIM (TX-2) ...
I can go to 1,64v , with 62c temperature at full load
Going above 1,64v will degrade performance for me
I used to have around 70c with 1,56v at full load before reseating heatsink city and applying good thermal paste and without Antec Spotcoolers.
So I think 62c is still pretty good on Air.
Just sharing my experience, I am trying to get my voltages down now, because I don't wanna run at 1,64v 24/7
Greetz
Man, that is really good memory, I wish I could have those available.
Remember you have a Quad and with 4Gbs, you are stressing the heck out of the NB, maybe thats the highest you will be able to go. Prob a dual-core will get you higher memory speeds, or increasing more the NB voltage?
Please report your results with that memory ;)
I wouldnt go higher than 1.60v (REAL) so that would be 1.56-1.58 in BIOS.
What other adjustments did you make to get your memory to run at 7-6-5-18?
Other than adjusting the trc and tfaw not much else was changed. System didn't seem to like it after a little while, (ie; would get sporadic lockups) so I put them back to what I was using previously and all was well. Besides the speeds are pretty good regardless so I didn't bother trying to tweak it more, still happy even at 7-7-7-20.
Might try it again but I need a break otherwise I'll get sucked back in again. :D;)
Here's a link you can browse, it's where I got the idea of trying out those timings:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mem...r3-1800_3.html
P.S. These were the Adv. settings at that time: TRRD - 1 TRC - 27 TRW - 10 TFAW - 27 Rest on [Auto]
Thanks for the link, I'll check it out after work. Any of you guys put this board under L2N or D-ice? I'm thinking I might want to take the plunge soon.
Finally cracked 20K...by a sliver.:woot: Not huge but it's about time this board's inner demons woke up. Gaming has been real smooth as of late too.
Cheers.
can anyone help with some setting for the bios to oc q6600 to 3.6ghz please
Something I want to share that was driving me nuts until I figured it out. Whenever you use the NV control panel to OC you gfx card and when you save the settings, it prompts whether to apply the settings whenever windows starts, after you close the control panel. When you say yes, it also saves all of your other settings too(like FSB, memory timings all that stuff). So when you modify your FSB or timings in the BIOS and when you boot into windows to see that you BIOS settings are taking effect, you know who the culprit is(The stupid NV control panel reverts back to your previous saved settings through the drivers). It took me half an hour of scratching my head and going bonkers to figure it out. I got so frustrated that I was about to format and reinstall XP, lol. Silly me.
oh yes i have the same experience :p: 2 weeks ago I went back to default BIOS setting to do some testing, but I was greeted with hard lock right after windows login. I scratched my head with hairs all over my desk! Then I went back to the original overclock setting and all was fine, then I knew there must be something insanely stupid.
Went back to Rivatuner and never looked back.
I really like the EVGA tuner, I dont have some of the problems with the fan going back to default speed that I had with rivatuner and ntune
This is what I could do with my Gskills. Unfortunately they dont work @ 1T at any speeds

anyone had problems with the new Nvidia 177.79 Drivers? I installed them but my screen just keeps on flashing black. I reverted to 175.19 and everything seems fine.
Just installed the 177.79 drivers from Guru3D and they are working fine here as well. PhysX driver also installed and seems to be enabled too.
nuclearjock how the heck did you score 16000:shocked:, what settings are you using in your control panel and was that score obtained in XP or Vista? Almost a similar setup so I'm just curious. :)
hmm ill reinstall vista tonight and give those drivers another shot. He would have had to get that in Vista if its Vantage
After finally getting the S2E to work properly by using CSX Diablo mems (Micron FTW), I got P20200 Vantage score. E8500@4Ghz using two GTX 260 cards at 700/1512/1150 (not maxed out but enough) :)
Driver 177.41 PhysX enabled, really neat.
on vantage you can tell just by watching the physics test, but you should have a nvidia program in your start menu that shows the physx pannel. You do have to manually install the driver, so you probibly dont have it unless you intentionally installed it.
