Flash, all is good. I will be interested what is the change. I thought maybe they would make the Vcore setting more accurate. I have a setting of 1.4375 and I am getting 1.38 ~ 1.39. It reports that both in the bios and every utility I use. But, they probably just read the bios. My thermal is in the low 30s c.
I don't have the Wi- Fi. Should I disable that in the bios? I have an unknown USB device in the Device Manager.

1223 can't handle my overclock (see my signature). I have a reboot on OCCT in RAM mode. Back to 1221 and all is fine
That has happened to me before. I has a ASUS 975X MB with a Pentium D running at 4255 MHz. I was stuck on the first release bios.

I have tried every bios since I got this board (I think it came with the august bios) and can't get it stable for anything...
I was given a *used looking* P5B-Deluxe by ASUS as an RMA exchange for my brand new P5B-Deluxe wifi/ap version that went "no post" after about a month. (Nice of them, eh)... It took them 3 weeks to get me the replacement and pretty much ever since I got the P5B-D board, I have been battling against random reboots. I think it might have been stable for week or so, I can't remember. When it started to flip out again, I replaced the PSU, because that was the only thing I hadn't yet upgraded. I didn't want to deal with Asus and another 3 week plus wait without my main system and when I finally broke down and called them they gave me an rma# but said they didn't have any P5B boards in stock to replace mine with, and had "no idea" when they would.
So I have been trying to tweak this board into shape. Every once in a while I will get a bios and configuration that will be stable for a while, then it will become unstable again. I am on 1223 now and after it was stable for a day or so, I started getting crashes again. Often it will lose it's settings for the bios and I have to reset them. I've tried all kinds of configs in the bios. Any ideas? I have been assuming its a mobo problem, because I don't have any gear I can swap out with to troubleshoot anything else...
One thing I haven't done yet is run a memtest to make sure my memory is square.. Seems weird that it would run fine for days and then go bonkers, and then be fine again.... but i do need to rule that out i suppose...

First do memtest. If you will get errors sometimes it helps to change ram voltage. I have exact same setup as you and after a while my MB started to randomly reboot. What i did is actualy lowered the ram voltage to 2.25 from 2.45 and it helped. Make sure you runing 1:1 for testing stability, my MB is not realy stable with dividers also. And what is your oc?

the most I've tried bumping the speed was to 288 because I dont really know what I am doing yet and i need to first bwe able to get it stable at 266 before I want to push it much.. it was stable at that 288 for a couple days at one point..
as far as the timings, I have mostly been using the auto pilot because I guess I don't know how to set them right given that when I try my own settings I can never get it to boot all the way... :shrug:

Lets say you have CL4 (CL5 5-up-up-18) DDR2 at timings of 4-4-4-12. Try 4-5-5-12 just for a test. If that does not work, try 4-5-5-18. Next try 4-5-5-18. No good yet, bump the TRFC to the largest number and then work back down once it is stable. Your memory. Your Memory should run fine at maybe 2v or 2.1v.. If you go much higher, you should have RAM cooling.

Then tried some different timings per chuckbam but no luck and got tired of it all and tried a boot with these settings and then got a random reboot after a while:

t_p....The only thing I can see in your setup that I would change is 'PCI Express Frequency' to 100 instead of auto if you are running your cpu at or near your default FSB. I do not recall anyone leaving it on auto. You only need to tweak this if you oc ~ 33% or more.

am i crazy to think that at some point, if there wasn't a problem with the board or the memory, or their taking a liking to each other, that I would stumble across some situation where they'd settle down?
DDR2 800 is NOT 1:1
DDR2 533 IS 1:1
Set memory to 533. leave everything at AUTO. Set RAM in the NB menu to AUTO. LEAVE everything at default.
Raise FSB to 300. Save, Reboot. See what happens.
What RAM and CPU are you using? Most any Intel CPU will handle 300 FSB EASY!!!! Try it.

I matched his screenshots, though his settings below that don't match the screenshots (the "-3-11-7-13" part), unless I don't know what he is referring to.
edit.. nevermind.. tried it with the "-3-11-7-13" too and got booted after a couple minutes..

If I set FSB to 300 then memory gets bumped to 600 automatically.. And when you say leave everything at default, are you referring to the CPU settings too? (Ratio,C1E, etc)
BTW, tried it like this.. system locked up before fully loading desktop...

I have the system in my signature.
I can't get one more MHz out of my CPU without getting OCCT in RAM mode failing. I noticed the NB strap was at 400MHz, but even 401-406MHz FSB give me OCCT RAM errors. The CPU should do it, I even gave it some 1.6v shock to be sure. 407MHz FSB and above, my system will reboot on Vista loading, even at a 6x or 8x CPU multiplier or 2.3v RAM. Of course I even maxed the NB and FSB voltages.
This same scenario was with my previous Q6600 B3, exactly same FSB limits at the 1 MHz precision, but it needed more vcore compared to my G0.
I also tried many bioses. 0910, 1216 and 1221 seems to be the most stable (other revisions won't sustain my current OC under OCCT RAM)

Yep, I flashed the P5B Premium Vista Edition bios on my P5B deluxe using AFUDOS older versions. I saw someone else did it before. Well, it didn't give me one MHz more out of my FSB
Using two sticks of DDR2 didn't change anything. I also just ordered some Kingston PC2-9600 2x1Gb that will arrive next week.
Do you think I reached the FSB limit of my P5B deluxe with quadcore processors? Or maybe got a bad overclocker on my P5B deluxe?

I was reading that there is lockups with the P35. I am sure they will work that out with drivers. The P965 is supported.
I am going to get the 8350 when a 512MB and the custom cooler is available.
