Popular hardware or hardware that we don't have team submissions for (a lot of older hardware) are easy ways to get Team Power Points...

thanks sam. Steve and anyone else looking for some new music to listen to while benching Dinos is having a contest in the AU forum. I am representing xs in full effect.

Memory clock failure, keeps taking a dump at 1307 MHz...also system kind of acting funny.|
Tried 10-13-12-30 first, then 11-14-14-32...
Will try again probably monday.
Maybe the problem is just me. Though, this CPU boots easy at 2400+.
Meanwhile will make LN2 ice cream.
Sigh.
^^ Good morning TA! PM me if you need help with anything, I really haven't done any 3d in ages, all 2d and really 90% of that is pcm05. :)
The Chaintech Zenith ZNF3 Ultra reminds me of the Gigabyte X58A OC... :D
If you want to add points to the team do what Sam said and dig up your old hardware, like S754, buy a few chips on ebay and clock them up. That's where we're lacking many points.
If you wanted to bench the GTX 670 you'd need a very strong setup to push it ( 6GHz+ Ivy ).
It's still much better than my best DDR3 submission... ;)
It's so hot today, the forecast expects 38°. Now it's noon and it's already over the 30° mark... This is the only thing I'll be doing all day: :toast2:
That sucks! :(
I'll keep trying though.
Got half my dewar left, will play with it all night.
got another malay chip yesterday... 2933 bootable on air again...
my current 24/7 rig is x58 3540 xeon on x58 asus sabertooth which ive never run on cold. I have a 2x ivy 3770k and a ud3h and max gene ive never run on cold.
for 754 I have the zenith and the dfi nf3 ultra. what to insulate 1st? the x58 is my 24/7 gaming rig. I took my raid setup off/ I have been on a hitachi 2tb death star for the past summer and my lsi raid set has been collecting dust. I am about to take the x58 off and plug in the m5gene for my 24/7 gaming rig and run the lsi rig on it. I took the lsi off because of the cup but steve has it all so there is no point of me taking it off. my dewar tipped and the top is no longer flush. I called taylor wharton and they said I should either leave it or fill it with water in the shower and try to tip it the other way so it lines up again. thats not it. Ive been scared to do ln2 since clarksdale. its pathetic. I have all this overclocking crap and not using it.
Alright, I will be of no help for DDR3 in team cup.
Tweaked for 2 hours and got up to ...1372 before it BSOD'ed once, which is exactly the same that I had before on my other CPU. Most of the time, ~1320+ it is extremely unstable.
Maybe my board is the problem?
This ram is not the same ram I used before, this kit is a little weaker, but more vdimm and even 11-15-15-35, then also ram on LN2 is not helping the problem. Played with drive strengths and skews "Time/Delay", plugged in some numbers "The Stilt" was happy to let me cheat with for 2400+, then experimented with, did nothing too.
Board is soaking wet from RAM on LN2, will have to let it dry out and try again Friday.
Time to try a different slot I guess.
EDIT:
We're rocking now. :)
Booted DDR3-2700
EDIT:
Broke out the hair dryer... :(
EDIT #3:
Looks like I killed a Bulldozer.
After drying the motherboard in the oven at 90c for 2 1/2 hours, (after cloth dry) I went and tried again.
Booted right up, went into bios, started to adjust settings and pull down the pot, and the system rebooted again. This time it just stuck on CPU_LED, like it was when I started the drying process earlier.
I found some magic though, turns out best-by far clocking slot on air is not the best slot on LN2...
Maybe my CPU is worth something too, will give it a go if board isn't dead.
Sorry loud :(
Tearing down soon, will try to dry again and give it more time this time (a few days) before trying again. Was running 1.575v CPU and 1.55v CPU-NB at full pot and DDR3-2840 ram when it all blew up.
dude, you are going through alot of hardware death. I would re-evaluate my insulation solution if I were you.
Let's see...
Back of board is liquid electrical taped, 4 coats. Board sits on paper towels.
Socket area is erasered, with paper towels, then armaflex gasket. Ram slots are taped off, and VRM heatsink has paper towels stuffed in any open area.
It came back after sitting and drying a day, just tested and board posts again
I am killing things though...
Maybe I should just vaseline everything
vaseline will cause memory headaches just fyi. use it, but sparingly.
How?
I think VRM would be safer vaselined, that's all I'm worried about really.
But I don't want to use vaseline unless I have to, eraser is reusable, isn't super messy and doesn't cost $$.
Regardless, I have benched for 7 hours+ full pot before without issue too with current method.
So far I've killed
1 kit PSC
MIVE
Maybe 2600K
ASUS 890FX M4A89TD
955 BE, developed coldbug -110c, subsequently died
trans_am's A75-UD3H (this board died on air H70 with stock settings)
possibly loud_silence's 3870K, in which case I'll help with RMA ship costs
I think the 955 BE and Llano stuff was just freak accident, moisture could have gotten the 2600K and MIVE, it was my first time insulating that platform. M4A89TD vaporized a PCB trace in a gaming rig with 1.5v PSC, something wrong there...not my fault, after repairs killed itself again on air...
As a matter of fact, my Pi were still working in trans_am's Llano board, all 4GB, so they didn't die in the MIVE.
Sigh,
I've got 1 hour and a half to get DDR3 ram clock out of the way. Gonna get on that.
why such a limited amount of time? i thought the stage closes on the 31st
i ment vaseline in the dimm slots btw. vrm it wont matter.
I go back to school the 27th, and have an event with friends to be at tonight. Been doing lots of shopping lately too, not sure if weekend will be open.
I know, you mean must be bad connection with vaseline?
Only got 1463 MHz (DDR3-2926) - HWBOT is down anyway

Ram was on LN2, seemed to help a little bit. -55c RAM, -190 CPU.
Tried up to 1.675v vcore, 1.6v CPU-NB, 1.9v RAM
I have a few L LN2 left, maybe if I have time tomorrow night I'll swap CPUs and try the same thing with mine. Otherwise, gonna set up RDRAM for submission and call it done.
i have put up 3000+ for ddr3 if you cant get it going a little higher over the weekend i will re-visit ram clocks. im pretty sure there is more in the imc.
Liquified vaseline on ram slots with hair dryer before each benching session.
Congrats to ZenEffect for finally reaching the magic DDR3-3000!
If I were you I'd run one of the Ivy chips on the Z77 board I like better... Sounds like fun to me! :)
