Thanks. I think I have tried those settings too but I'll give them a shot. How dangerous is a 1.55V on Q66 ?
safan80, I got the 4gb of gskill working
I can choose the frequency now but I still can't specify strap..
I originally couldn't boot with anything but "auto" because I had Transaction Booster, enabled..
can you choose strap?
Using Vista 32 I used my old Asus Update from a A8N-SLI disk ( thanks to Kup ) My version is 6.0 beta it flashed me from 902&903 back to good old trusted 802:up:
If you have not tried 6.0 beta on a 32bit OS perhaps you should give it a go
I have a web link you can dl from if you like
just say I hit Alt+f2 and go into the utility , cant I jjust flash it from there ? or is there is it different when downgrading .
I have yet to downgrade via the alt+f2, but I know it will let you prior to the 9 series, it might be worth a shot..
This is the dl link if you wish to try the update utility

i'm thinking that this might be towards me... and yes, i have. i've been on this thread from day one and i've tride the asus update but it didn't work. i'm going to play around some more if the 266 strap doesn't work for me.

i'll try this one if i can't get it to work with the 266 strap. thanks!

AsusUpdate that allows downgrading from the 09xx series
Please note, you must use XP 32Bit to perform the flash, as the software fails to work on an x64 OS
Select 'Options', tick the downgrade box and the flash with bios of choice.
strap 266 didn't work for me.
shawntrd, thanks. my dumb ass never checked out the 'options' section. thanks a ton. i must have missed that written somewhere. i figured it would just do it with the option "choose bios from file."
thanks again shawn, that worked.
IF youŽre using Vista x64 and wanna downgrade bios.
I did like this...
1. Flash the board with 0903 bios.
2. After the erase bios part, shut the computer down.
3. Restart computer and youŽll get a message for bios recovery.
4. Insert the CD that came with the box, or use USB-stick with the bios you want to be flashed. The bios must be named FORMULA.com
5. After successful bios recovery you are set to go :)
