Microsoft: New Patch for Multi Processors PC + better CPU Power Management in XP SP2
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=134262
After trying F7, F8i, F9 and F10 I've found that F9 gives me the highest stable FSB (444MHz) which is what I need when I start using my Vapo LS.
The rest of the bioses wouldn't go stable above 420.
Last night I ran my system Orthos blend stable for a bit over 9 hours with these settings 430x8 (3444MHz on CPU-Z) at 1.5V Vcore, 860MHz DDR2 +0.2V, FSB +0.2V, GMCH +0.2V. DDR2 timings haven't been tightend yet but considering that it's rated for 5-5-5-15 at 1066 I should be able to set them pretty tight...
Is it safe to run 1.5V Vcore using a Scythe Infinity 24/7?
Core temp 0.94 is showing 50-51C at idle and 70C during load...
Would I gain or loose preformance by running 382x9 for the same CPU speed but with 955MHz for the memory?
juz wondering has anyone reached 1000mhz for rams on the ds4 F8? i cant seems to reach it even when my rams are 2.05V (rams are 667mhz default by kingston)
DDR2 1000 with just 2.05V? With value sticks it's almost impossible (may be doable with D9G however). Try >2.2V and you might be lucky enough as to achieve DDR2 1000.
I had to use 2.3v or higher to get to1000mhz.
I reached 1000MHZ with my G.SKILL HZ kit, needed 2.2V. Man i wish GB would release some new bios cause now my duff hardware has been replaced with new kit i wanna do some extensive testing.
Is there any way to achieve a lower ram multiplier than 2.00, i got my TwinMOS PC2-6400 with Elpida chips 5-5-5-12, the CPU is an E6300 @ 400x7 , 2800mhz with just 1.27v, i know i can push it to 3.2ghz or 3.0ghz but i will need to overclock the memories and they are rated for 800mhz and 1.8v (elpida chips).
I am doing something wrong ? or the only way to get to 3200Mhz is with 1:1 ratio, Twinmos rates the memories at 1.8V, so i don't know if i put 1.9 or 2.0v for example, i might fry them right ?
Another one :D , for 3000Mhz i will need to set the FSB to 430, its risky with the motherboard stock cooling, i got a good case, good airflow but i might need to add some active cooling system for the chipset (at least thats what i think).
Thanks for your time, Leopr.
You can probably squeeze a fair bit out of those sticks, even for Elpida. You'd need 457fsb for 3.2.. It'd be a little bit of an overclock on ram, but I'd imagine with 2.1v it should be able to handle it. As long as you have adequate airflow across the ram (some would recommend active) it should last
I will aim for 3.0Ghz, i guess thats DDR2-860, with 2.0 vDimm seems to be stable but i want to be sure first the memories wont die with such Voltage, TwinMOS recommends 1.9V maximum, its safe to put 2.0V on elpida chip, i got the case opened always, still pretty nice airflow.Quote:

Elpida ~ 2.2 V
Infineon ~ 2.2 V
I found that on Google, could be true ? I tested my Twinmos ddr2-800 with the elpida chips and i can get ddr2-860 with 2.0 vDimm.
Twinmos Twister used to be based on powerchips. Any proof it's now elpida? Anyway, Twinmos rates Twisters as DDR2 800 1.8 +-0.V, so 1.9V is within the specification. You should be able to achieve DDR2 860 using just 1.8V. I can do DDR2 900 1.9V without any problems. As to more voltage - 2.1V can't hurt them and I've been using this voltage for a couple of months. Up to 2.4V for benchmarks.
I mailed them with my S/N and P/N and they answered this.Quote:

I supose he is not lying :P, i will try with 2.0v.
One question about the motherboard, is it safe to run FSB 430 on the DS4 wit the stock cooling system, its a heat pipe system or i have to add some fan for the nb.

If you take a picture of one of the IC's, we can help figure out what it isQuote:

Realtek are excellent at bringing out updated drivers on a regular basis.
I know which ICs my sticks are based on. It's powerchips. I simply didn't know, that they've stopped using these in different revisions.Quote:

mach82 : Twinmos Twister based on Elpida E2508AB-GE-E chip you can find more info in Eplida official website
Its not the source but i found another page with the same quoted text.Quote:

I will link the source asap, not on my pc :P.
I've set my memory to default everything but it still froze. I'm using this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817174023. My idle is about 30 and load is about 50, so I don't think it's the heat that's causing me to freeze. Is it more likely that the PSU or CPU clock is causing the freezing?
Just received a new shiny DQ6 rev 3.3 and E6400 results soon
What memory are you gonna use on the board? Cuz my board will be here on the 22nd. This thread is good, been checking it everyday to see what's happening. Now I'm waiting till April when the cpu prices drop.Quote:

I wouldn't insult my hardware with less then a $350 PSU inside :-)
On a serious note, PC rebuilt and everything operating normally...finally. All hardware is ticking over just nicely, back to 3.4GHz on the CPU.
New Digital Doc 5+ burning bright, 7900GS connected to the PCI-E connector of my OCZ 1000W....why yes!, i did say ONE THOUSAND WATTS (with thanks to Eric from OCZ).
I finally managed to get me system stable....I hope.
I had to raise the chipset and MCP? voltage 0.1+
Quick backlog....
SuperPI passes 12 hours
Memtest+ passes both test 5 and test 7 for 12 hours each.
4 instances of Othros passed for 2 days....
And still this machine was a little flaky.
So I updated from the F7 to F9 BIOS
Swapped one of my 2 IDE drive on the Jmicron controller to a SATA model.
Much more stable, but still about one glitch a week.
Now last week...
I found a large PDF file that would crash my machine everytime I tryed to open it from the website in IE7.
Reboot .....check it again. Change a setting or two...reboot check it again....etc
I carefully looked at my bios settings and decided to try upping the voltage on the north and southbridge's.
Changing the two settings to add 0.1+ volts seemed to fix the problem.
I ll keep you posted.
I thought 500w was more than enough to power my system. What PSU would you guys recommend that's about $100?
My Enermax Liberty is doing just fine with my system thankyou.

This is a strong psu. I think it will power your system just fine. Myself I would have taken the money saved by not spending $350 on a psu and spent it on a stronger vid card.
