They are getting rid of the C0 stock. I really think you will get what is leftover.

i kinda think the same thing, but the Intel guy did say it would be the newest batch number that i would receive. so i got a 50/50 chance it being a new E0 or just the newest batch of C0.
im waiting to contact Intel this morning to find out if they shipped it yet, and if they did what did they actually send me...crossing fingers..lol ill post back with the details
Hey, I am somewhat new to overclocking. However, I understand how it works and what settings to change and I have done a bit in the past, but nothing serious. I would still call myself a noob, do to lack of experience.
Any help would be appreciated as I am having trouble getting stable at anything other then default settings.
Computer stats:
cpu - e8500
mobo- p5e3 premium wifi@n - lots of options for overclocking
ram - ocz Reaper ddr3 12800, 1600mhz - This overclocks well i believe. 7-7-7-20
hdd - 4x250gig @ raid10
cpu cooler - ocz vindicator, works alright, could be better.
psu - corsair hx520w psu, upgrading to 620w when i go CF
Video - 4850 with accelero s1 attached will get a second one later.
All I want is a 4.1ghz oc cpu, and ram at default or higher speeds and rock solid/stable.
Whats a good starting point?
Edit: Batch # Q817A226
Hiredgoon just run the volts up to 1.40 volts and see what ya get in cpu speed
and then you can deside what you will settle for ;)
( or go to the max volts that makes ya happy)
well i talked to intel again and they havent gotten my RMA E8400, which is a good thing.lol but they said again that the CPU sent back to me would be the newest Batch#. im hopeing it is the E0 steppin. 4.0ghz with a small amount of added volts is what im after...
Newegg have E0 yet?
Are you going to add E8600 to this list?
Who Likey?

ECS G31T-M Motherboard combo deal
4.5ghz @ 1.36v gets a little toasty on air but manageable...:)

I think I'll run 4.4ghz (1.328v) on air 24/7 as temps are more reasonable...

Just got an older stepping Q745A784 Xeon E3110 and it seems to be quite a nice clocker!
So far seems stable at 490fsb (4.41ghz) with 1.456V ...this is after about 20 minutes of overclocking...running OCCT 30 min now
Hmm seems my Asus Commando doesn't like the EO stepping. It'll work, it just doesn't recognize the chip.
BlueAqua .. have heard / read that a bios update fixes that
a few post up an ECS mobo needed it too
Yeah I never expected a bios update for the Commado, but they do have this one:
1703
2008/03/24 update
Description: Commando beta BIOS V1703
Patch Wolfdale E8300 will show CPU over voltage error.
Don't think there is any newer bios available that might help the Eo's
called INTEL again this afternoon. they still havent received my RMA yet. so thats a plus for me..
will the vid be the same with the E0 stepping? or has it increase a little..
question? with the new E0 stepping what actually makes it so much easier to OC these bad boys? im not no genious or anything like that so the answer might just blow me away...lmao
