Huge bump with BX2 and E6850 cpu.
After testing some various settings, bios, strap change etc. I able to easy hit 400MHz FSB straight from bios. Only one visit in bios for this settings. Set 400MHz, F10, go to windows and
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=250366
This settings is with strap set to 333MHz, so not good, but I be testing this combo to work at 266MHz strap set in bios.
ps. don't look at mem freq :p:

Cool deal man, hopefully it will work better on 266/533....
So now im torn with the decision between a Q6600, or the E6850, they are both about the same price... What do you guys think/reccomend??? I mostly game, with the occasional DVD burning, ect.....
I got the Q6600 GO, I mostly game..
I had a E4300 at 3.2 Ghz got this Q6600 at 3 Ghz now
I have to get another MB for the E4300 so I may just go P35 and put the Q6600 in that.
was looking at the ABIT P35..
On strap 266 also work ok
Bios used for test is 2770, any other new bios not work ok with G0 1333MHz CPU..

need some hlelp
i had this board laying around and after upgrading my main rig to a quad i took my 6850 and installed it on the BADAXE2, the computer booted fine with a pair of ballistix 6400 and after playing around a bit i decided to upgrade the bios, its been months since i used th board i upgraded the bios using the windows method, the computer booted and everything went fine and it gave the message that everything went ok, then the computer rebooted but it will not post at all i tried one stick, 2 sticks nothing happens i move the jumper setting and still nothing happens again 1 or 2 sticks no beeps or nothing with the ballistix , i removed the battery for a while with no luck
then i tried a pair of g.skill and i get a constant beep, beep, beep with one or two sticks no matter what slot
it does not beep with the ballistix in any event it will not post at all
thx for any suggestions
put the quad back and see what happens
Remove battery for 5 min. Then put battery again and set jumper bios to config mode with only one stick of mem. If this not help, try the same combination with low-end ram.
Martin
i removed the battery over night and tried it again this morning nothing i will have t get some low end ram as i have none thx for the suggestions
i got the sys to boot by using my quad instead of the 6850 once it booted i set everything to default , installed the 6850 and up and running
my questions is i set the bios and it says that sys is oc and running 9x400 3.6ghz when i boot into windows and use cpu-z it says system is running at 3.0 (after i used rm-clock to overcome the ce1) now what is going on i am using the latest bios listed on intel's website
how come the bios says one thing cpu-z and everest says another thx in advanced
For me only 2770 bios can do oc on G0 1333MHz CPU.
New bios : 2777 ... can do only work with this CPU :p:
Martin
Are u guys using the Pencil Mod in P5B DLX?
Do u advice me to go for it?!
MC
So the prefered BIOS and strap for quad core is.......?
i am running the 6850 ok now but now matter what bios i use it will change settings on bios and i see the correct settings i.e. 9x400 = 3.6 but CPU-z keeps reporting stock speed i tried the newest bios, 2770 and 2777 so far
also i ran into an issue when changing memory settings the sys will not boot no matter what if i tried like 266/533 i have to use my q6600 instead of the e6850 for the sys to boot then i can reset settings and use the 6850 again and sys will boot fine
Hey guys and gals - quick question.
I had to do a complete re-install (including re-flashing BIOS 2792 to get rid of stop error BSOD)
I'm using the XBX2, E6600, and some WD sata2 drives.
When re-installing XP I used the "F6" RAID drivers from the Intel site, but unlike before I can't seem to get the controller set up in AHCI mode. The system will only start if I set up SATA as "IDE".
My question is - if I re-install everything again to try and get the controller set up to AHCI - Do I also have to re-install XP (again)?
[talk about a frustrating couple of days]
Update - I re-installed XP and again used the "f6" drivers from the intel site... Windows loads IAstor and all that, but the machine WILL NOT START windows UNLESS I have the SATA drives set to "IDE" mode. WTF?
Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on here?
It seems to me that the last time I did a complete BIOS flash and windows re-install 6 months ago, I was able to start in AHCI mode just fine.
Did you set the bios to AHCI before reinstall?
I have already created a new thread for this issue, but I am particularly fond of this thread and the people that follow it. So, I am reposting here. Hope I don't offend anyone.
I built my rig (the one in my sig) back in May of this year and have had not problems with the video card at all. I get 200+ fps, even when I added my Dell 24" 1920x1200 display. Yeah!
But now, suddenly, I am getting a "Display Driver not Responding..." error message while playing video games, and even when I am not. I believe this is referred to as the TDR issue.
Changes I have made recently:
- Updated the BIOS from 2662(?) to 2792
- Updated the latest nVidia driver from 153.x to 163.69
- Hand-delivered my box 5 miles from my hotel to my new apartment
I am trying to recall when the problem began exactly, but I am not sure. Probably at some point in the middle of all this. Life has been hectic as my family just followed me 2700 miles out here in the last few days. (Side note: relocating due to work)
Now, consider this. Just a few weeks before all of this, I disassembled my entire rig, shipped it 2700+ miles out here, re-assembled it, and had no problems at all!!!! Now, all of a sudden, I am having this persistent problem. How is that possible???
Just yesterday, I started from scratch, removed my 80GB hard drive, added a second 320GB drive, and did a RAID 0 on them. I reinstalled Vista Ultimate, the nVidia driver, and all my games, and guess what, the problem is still there.
I don't think my video card is damaged as there are countless accounts of this problem dating back a year ago. So does anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks in advance...
I'm back to old good E6600.
G0 CPU with 1333MHz work ok on BX2, but not always. After some days with testing E6850 and QX6850 I'm back to B2 step.
One day G0 work ok, next day still 3GHz and not more. XBX2 bios collection not have good support for this CPU.
My two $

An interesting find:
Using this piece of software: http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd.../itk/index.htm
you can modify the BadAxe2 BIOS files to your liking.
I discovered this by trying to find a way to change the splash screen (which this utility can also do.)
After I found all the necessary BIOS files and loaded them into the ITT, I stumbled across this interesting option here:
http://www.gvice.com/yukado/first.jpg
Using this program, I tried changing the multiplier of my E6600 to 8 to see if it worked... but it didn't, sadly enough. I tried it at 14 too but it still only saw it as an 9x multiplier.
However, you can change the splash screen, as well as disable Watchdog in these BIOS files by default, which can help if you are trying to use multiple BIOSes to see which one works best for you.
It can even generate an IFlash (which is the utility that flashes the BIOS from Windows) file so you don't have to put much effort into flashing the BIOS.
I'm already having a lot of fun with my copy of the program :)
Wasn't Intel supposed to release a new board last month based on the new X38 chipset? Where is it? It's pretty obvious that for whatever reason they are not going to add official support to the BX2 for new processors via a simple BIOS update.
Yes... and it makes no difference. It either crashes as soon as the windows splash screen comes up, or I get a stop error BSOD before that every time. The ONLY way this machine starts is by setting the drive mode to IDE...
AHCI or RAID and its lights out.
Anybody know of any good mobo diagnostic tools?
