I am not sure actually, i think they are TCCD, cause they can run at 3-4-4-8 at liek 250MHz 2.85V, but won't do more than 205 at 2-2-2-5. I have one module 512mb which i think IS BH-5, cause it runs 1005 stable at 225 at 2-2-2-5 and boots at 240 at 2-2-2-5, but as I recall it does not do cas3, only 2.5

but I have only one module, cause the other was defect and I had to replace it, and they are not produced anymore, so hopefully I will get another one KHX ultra

I have a problem i have never seen.

With my dothan 760 with P4GD1 i cant do over 151fsb even with lower multis like 10x or so. So basically my maximum overclock is aroun 2250mhz(15x151)

I have tried both 100 and 133 jumper settings and nothing changes. Tried vcore from 1.4v to 1.7v. Tried to loosen the mem latencies. Tried to up the chipset voltage.

Cooled with boxed cooler around 48-60c and with water 42-56c <-- i think those are quite high temperatures as my friend is running his dothan under 40c with boxed @ 2600mhz.

What should i try next :dammit:

Seems to be available only in Europe and Japan :( . What is going on with this board ? Asus is not producing it anymore ?

Alot of distributers don't buy these boards cause they think it isn't a logical combo (s478+pci-e) and not futureproof (at the end they will have huge stock non-selling mainboards).
Cause s775 is kinda replacing the "old" s478 (in Belgium there are stores don't have s478 in their list anymore). And the fact that in the future(even now) the CPU will be the borttleneck of the system.

hey you dothan gurus. I was shoping around and want a nice cheepo powersolution. I looked around and some are considering the celeron M. I was looking around and I saw a cheep celeron M at about 83bux as boxed from intel and I saw a ct479adaptor for about 45bux. I own a p4p800-dlx (non e) so I figured I could build a nice little low power server or posibly a little monster for my games and give my main rig a breack.

So any thoughts on the celeron M ?
Any experiences overclocking these chips?
Do these chips sufer from the same problems the 400fsb dothans sufer from? (low fsb syndrome)
and how well do these things oc? (id like to see 2.4ghz out of it, 2.6ghz would be ideal yeilding me 200% clock speed) is this realistic?

Now I realise there are allot of threads around but frankly no one awknowleges the little celeron that dosent cast an arm and a leg.

Point being is, should I go for it or not?

as I recall multi is locked in celerons, but there are only speculations on if they are capable of 200FSB, i would presume YES, but I do not know, just try man, then always you can change to dothan, besides, i think it would do 2GHz at least

It's a phillipine 03/01/2005 SL86G. It's fast, and i'm aiming for more today.. :) How high can you go with the Vcore with just the normal heatsink?

I'm getting 2 more Dothans tomorrow, my current one has troubles hitting a high fsb and craps out at 2600mhz which isn't enough to my liking.

Uh, I just got my Dothan today with P4C800-E Deluxe and CT-479. But it keeps giving me "System failed due to cpu overclocking" post messange and I dunno how could that be, because cooler (stock CT-479) is placed good and I cannot overclock without even seeing bios. Maybe I should change jumpers on CT-479 for 133 or it is already set? Maybe bios is too old to support Dothan? But how can I upgrade it then? Thanks for help!

I'm not 100% sure that it's the dothan that's causing the problem and not the mobo but I can get them so cheap that i can sell them for more than I buy them for.

I can't boot past 225mhz fsb I believe, 230mhz is no boot and I tested nothing between 225mhz and 230mhz. In windows I can run it at about 245mhz max. The best result you can get with this cpu is 11*237 or a little higher, as long as it is not more than 2650mhz I think it is 24/7 stable.

It is a rather early Dothan 740 from I believe 1/28/2005. I'm getting newer cpu's this time. Maybe the maximum fsb you can reach is also determined by how new the cpu is.

Every PM730 is a SL86G :D .

Check at the asus website which bios you need, the latest is usually the best. If you need to flash your bios you're gonna need a P4 to do so.

I just switched jumpers yesterday (from 533 -> 400).

Dont see any increase over my current max at 2739MHz...

Yes, you should keep the PCI-Express frequency at FSB/2,2. For very high PCI-Express you're going to need high volts for the chipset so maybe vmods are required.

Yeah.. but my point is that why cant i get passed 151fsb whaterver the multi is.

My mistake :( . It is interesting , they have different package types (478 pin PPGA and 479pin/H-PBGA ) . I really don`t know what does it mean but 478 pin PPGA seems better :D

BTW , looks like you need a OCZ booster . :cool:

I guess you are looking for a vdrop mod . I`m not shure how it will work since the power to the cpu is supplied by the adapter . By the way ,don`t try soldering the mobo if you haven`t done that before ?

no, you don't need to do that. It's just a setting somewhere. remember past 220 fsb you need to up pci-e freq to desired fsb/2.2.
Remember all the obvious stuff, trun off spread spectrum, set memory timings a bit loose at first... my P4GD1 was "plug n' play" and runs fine @ 11 x 250, 1:1, 2-3-2-5 @ 3.2v 24/7 at 115 pci-e freq.

I have done it before and I do not know what went wrong, droopmod worked but had 2 get it off and soldered it up again and didn't work anymore and vcore 0.2 lower

If it worked first time get rid off all vmod stuff and do it again from scratch. Anyway the clock in your signature is very good , from what i have seen i don`t think more vcore will help you , at least not on air .

Got Spread Spectrum Disabled and tried to loosen the mem timings ... and nothing

upping vcore and chipset voltage didnt help.. ive tried tccd and "new" BH-5. Different multis and higher pci-e frequency.. nuthing helps :( I have started to think there is something wrong with my mobos chipset, like it couldnt handle fsb past 151.

I gotta send my processor to my friend and he tests it on his P4P800.

And i have water running in my cooling system.. cpu temperature around 32-40.

If vcore can get higher I can do higher FSB with lower multi and I will put it on water :) But I will try again tomorrow or smthing, so little time these days :mad:

Mine it's a Philipine too but month 04, i can do 216x12 (2592) at 1.6vcore :( but it's rock solid stable :)
I can do 222x12 (2664) and run SuperPI 32M but it's not stable on other programs :(

Nice mod on the waterblock :D . It does not look like a CPU waterblock .Is it a chipset waterblock ? How much fsb are you getting with this chip ?

It's an cpu Wb created by Rosco and DerfOne from cooling-masters for now i'm hiting a wall at 190 in 1:1 because my P4P800 Vm just deliver 2.65V for my Bh5 . Tonight i will v modd it :D

Looks very small for a cpu waterblock , i`m still loking for one that fits .

BTW,i prefer an OCZ booster instead of vdimm mod
