Updated Heceta6 BMI sequence
wow heh
didnt really fixed anything ... OCing the same
wtf, i've spent US$40 on the Rev.301 board and it just doesn't support Conroe after the mod.
wtf, i must say, wtf....
Hey this might sound like a really idiotic and simple question, and I want to make it clear I HAVE VERY CAREFULLY READ THROUGH THIS ENTIRE THREAD, I have also searched through the forums for this answer....
Anyway, here's my question:
How do I overclock my processor in the BIOS for the D975XBX??
In Advanced > Chipset configuration menu in BIOS, I have set my DDR2-533 memory to 667 speed, with appropriate timings and voltage, and it works flawlessly (memtest+ STABLE, NO ERRORS). There is NO CPU:MEM RATIO setting, and I was told earlier in this thread that this was "automatic"; meaning that the motherboard would automatically set the divider accordingly.
In Advanced > Chipset configuration there a number of "burn-in" options, including an option called Host Burn-in Mode Percentage.
I assumed that this option would either increase the total BUS/FSB speed, and the clock speed of the processor itself.
I have a core 2 duo E6400 with an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro; CoreTemp reports about 41C idle and 56C load.
I set the Host burn-in mode percentage to a modest number: 5%. As I understand, a 5% overclock should be NO PROBLEM on air for this CPU.
After setting this option, my PC failed to boot and I was forced to manually reset CMOS as detailed in the D975XBX manual.
I'm wondering if someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.
try setting the memory to 533
when set to 667 and increasing the FSB by 5%, the memory is then running at DDR698
what memory do you have?

I mean, it says RIGHT THERE in the bios that the memory is set to 667. I was told earlier in the thread that the D975XBX uses an automatic divider. Otherwise how would I ever be able to overclock??
Can someone help me?
When I oc the speed on my bad axe 3.04 with E6600 at the 1333 strap, at 3890mhz its superpi 1m at 13 secs, but when I set it just 1% more to 3900+, the superpi results became 15+ seconds at 1 m.
Can't for sh#t undderstand why, read through the threads about the 1333 strap but doesn't tell me anything. Check my rams but it's ok, .\\\
Please advise.

The memspeed is the ratio setting....At 1066 strap, setting the mem to 533=1:1...mem @ 667=4:5 ratio etc.
ahhhhh ok I understand....so it's NOT really "667", it's the divider. Overclocking the FSB would mean that the REAL speed would be much higher. Thanks. :)Quote:

Ok, here's a question;
What would give me a bigger practical gain in gaming?
Keeping the memory @ DD2-667
or
OCing the BUS/CPU and having a LOWER memory speed (like 600)?
Spent better part of a day trying to boot from a cd and install windows.Quote:

Then tried to boot from an external DVD burner .... no go.
Then on a hunch... I said... maybe I'm just not seeing the "Hit any key to boot from CD" message that normally occurs when one has a bootable CD in the drive, and the drive in 1st in the boot order.
So I hit enter randomly .... after post.... sure enough it booted to the CD...
To this day... still can't get it to display "Hit any key to boot from CD"...
shows a blank screen instead. Monitor is initialized... see post...
Other .. freeky thing... MANY hangs in BIOS... cant go more than 5 or 10 minuntes without the BIOS freezing up.... requires a reset...
However... stress tests ... and windows have never locked up..
I wouldn't go less than 1:1 on the memory speed....since you have already tested the ram to run 667 speeds, try this: memory set to 533 + 25% burn in. That will give ya a around 2660mhz CPU with mem around 667...then just go up slowly from there.Quote:

Spent a good couple of hours banging my head with my Rev 305 - ICS. I'm struggling to achieve 1:1 on my G Skill HZ 800 4-4-4-12 memory at 3.52 Gigs. I'm using a 6600. Previously on my P5W DH it was just a case of setting the FSB to 390 and setting the divider so I achieved around 800 which at 390 was 775 memory and I managed 1:1. Bliss!
On the Badaxe I have set 40% overburn 667 on the memory and 1066 BS. It Boots fine but doesn't run at 1:1. If I set 800 on the memory it refuses to boot. I have set the voltage on the memory to 2.1 Really starting to tear my hair out.
What settings do I need to achieve 1:1 at 390FSB which is about 3.52G on a 6600. I'm using Bios 1305
I really love the quality of the board but jeez this board is hardcore. I have the option to swap my P5W DH (1.85 on the MCH) for this BadAxe for free. I was hoping the better voltage stability would let be go a little further OC wise.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
533 is 1:1 on the 1066 strap.....
You want mem set to 533 + 46% or 47% burn in, that will give you around what you want.
Many thanks will give it a try. :)Quote:

I had the same problem. Are you using a USB keyboard?
I think there's an issue with USB in the BIOS. I swapped to a PS2 keyboard and have not suffered a BIOS freeze since.
Safe to go that high on air?....Quote:

For some reason I can't bring myself to use a USB kb/mouse. PS/2 adapters for me. There were always reports of some problem with them. The minority (like 1 outta a million) but there were problems when oc'ing.Quote:
