4 stage cascade

Sounds suspiciously like the temp that S7e9h3n was getting with auto cascade with similar combination of gases :) Maybe around that is the limitation before starting to really use some exotic gases with R14 being the final stage gas. Great result cold_ice!!! 200w load... that is one massive heat no processor should ever show off. (it's the load that i have burnt motherboards mosfets with shoving too much current through on some cases :P) It's amusing to see spark flying out of around cpu socket with smoke and fire actually starting on pcb...

Thx for the comments. I'm pretty happy with the results, with some more tunning -120° loaded shouldnt be a big deal.
Maybe I will start a 4 stage cascade with bigger compressors in some time, a guy calculated with the planned unit -160° with 300w load should be possible :D

They may be very big compressors no? Especially in the last stage that needs a high pressure ratio for methan ?

That temp should be achievable with a 3 stage cascade. But thanks, I'm happy with the loaded temps too :)

i dont make any ideia off load transmited for 3 more stages to 1st stage, but the point to me is try to get the better 1st stage you can, -20 is no way, if you could get on -40 range you will have like an extra-stage becouse you will condense ethylene on 2nd stage, get a big mama compressor for 1st stage and tune it to the limits.

Or use the first as an aux condenser then proceed like normal.

-30° for first stage will be enough, because I use R23 in second stage. At -20° it has condensing pressure of about 15bar.
With a very strong first stage you can also do -40° in first stage and use straight R1150 in second stage.

edit: If you would be able to get -30 or better from the first stage @ full load you could use ethylene in the second stage. Instead of -65*C in the second HX with r23 you'll get about -80 with ethylene with the same circumstances. Would be far nicer temp for r14. Only -30 or better on the high stage is pretty hard to reach. you need a very big compressor or maybe 2 parrallel compressors will help out.
