Have you tried using Afudos version 2.07 that I linked to? It worked for me.
Thanks! :toast:
That finally helped.... :whew: Now I'm happily back to 0311... :woot:
Hey do you guys get USB mnouse problems? I have a Razer Copperhead, when I reboot Windows the mouse stops working. I have to unplug and replug the mosue before it recognizes it again. Anybody knows a cure?
I am on bios 404. And a freshly installed Windows XP.
never had any issues with usb mouse
I do not like this mobo. very poor OC, yes my ram is holding me back but still.
get sudden lockups too... really anoing. maybe ill switch back to 939dual sata2 again and try fiksing the issues it got. atleas it clocks much better...
bah... starting to get pissed about this board....
what is the standard pci-e voltage? i raised it from 1.2v to 1.3v to se if that helps getting rid of lockups. also lowered htt from 275 to 270...
weird thing this lock up. it can fold for days and then BAM, it freezezs. and its always when i do something. opening a new window, or just surfing...
maybe there is some bios tweak i can do to make it more stable?
Using 1T usually causes lockups at higher htts ...among a few other things I can think of right off the top.Quote:

jup. already looking for an replacement. selling this one and keeping the Asrock
Hello,
been a while since my last post here... :). Anyway, bought the mobo in question and stumbled to this thread. My board goes up to 295 FSB (166 MEM, 2GB kit UCCC) and it seems stable. It doesn't boot at that setting, i have to back to 270 to get it boot. But setting the speed within Windows gets the job done. I'll have to see if it's my CPU that's holding the boot (X2 3800+ @2500 1.5V on not-so-good air cooling).
Anyway, i see lot of references to a 0311 bios. I've tried to search it, to no avail. I've noticed that A8R32-MVP has bios with that version number, so have i been chasing somethin non-existent or does the bios work with A8R-MVP also? If someone has this bios, please send it to me, thanks. At the moment i'm running the latest, 0503 and it's working fine. Haven't tweaked memsetting very throughly yet. One nice thing about this mobo is that it runs my X2 almost 200MHz faster than Abit KN8 Ultra with same cooling and same voltage. With Abit i couldn't get even 2400MHz stable, even with the more able voltage selections available. And ULi SB seems fast, my NCQ RAID 0 scores very nicely, bit better than nForce 4.
As far as I can remember, there were only four BIOS prior to 0503. Three official (0201, 0309, 0402) and one beta (0037).
The 0311 was a specially fixed 0309 BIOS that ATI and ASUS supplied to some of the members of this forum. I got the link somewhere around here, but I don't remember where.....:brick:
What does this BIOS actually fix?? :confused:Quote:

I just found it more stable than the 0309.
Wasn't Pegelius asking if there was a 0311 BIOS for the A8R-MVP (not the 32) and you told him that there was one except you were really talking about the A8R32-MVP?Quote:

Anyway, been running bios 0307 (or was it 0037... ?) for few days, it seems to handle my UCCC better and i got up to 305 FSB or so. For 24/7 operation 285 has been stable. Haven't really had time for tweaking as my server has been in randomly-corrupt-data-and-dont'-tell-admin-why-mode for few weeks... :slapass: Also had to fix my Asus 7900GT which was locking up randomly, adding a heatsink on mem vreg allows me to even overclock by a healthy margin.
Make sure u keep us updated with that 0311 BIOS! :cool:Quote:

Finally flashed in Windows with Asusupdate, first letting it detect the original chip and switched to saviour chip before clicking next. Worked like charm.
Trying the 0311 A8R32-MVP met a dead-end right the moment i extracted the rom from zip-file; it's double the size of the A8R-MVP bioses... can't fit 1Mb to 512kb...:nono:. Well propably wouldn't have worked anyway.
Anyways, mobos been nice, running at 270x9 with X2 3800+ perfectly stable. I had some trouble when overclocking in Windows with clockgen, for example FEAR would allways lock up in the intro. Dunno if this is because of too much oc or that clockgen simple screws something (as the problems manifested only in really intensive graphics apps). Been thinking of doing Vcore mod and seeing if NB volts could be rised...
Hi long time no see!!Quote:

The mobo maxed out @ 325Mhz like the one in anandtech review but will BSOD @ 330. All this ran perfectly with the 0402 BIOS untill yesterday......
That I flashed it to 0503 to see if I can get the same overclock but only to find lots of annoying little problems; for the first time ever I'm starting to get the cold boot problem where all OC settings will fail if I shut it down completely and switch it back on again. It will still do 325*8 but just has problems keeping the settings at fresh start up!!
I immediately tried to flash it back to 0402 but afudos utility says it's too old!!! Can someone please tell me what I need to use to flash the original 0402 back?? :( If not I will go so far as to corrupt the BIOS just so that I can recover it using the BIOS on ASUS CD!! Hopefully won't come to that though...
Like I say I got hold of the beta 0037 and would like to try it tonight, but not sure if it will even take the BIOS.
Will post back as soon as possible.
*****EDIT*****
LOL just read the previous page about the older Afudos version 2.07V, got it now am gonna try it first thing when I get home and see if it works...
Thanks a lot!
Tried the 0037 this weekend and it did nothing but add a few extra settings under memory configurations, otherwise it's exactly the same as the 0402 that I'm using now, although the mobo still won't boot @ 270Mhz and above...
Now does anyone know why my ULI sata raid controller take so much time to detect drives at start up?? I can't run raid atm because of this. I have 2 maxtor sata2 hdds with NCQ.
Maybe a compatibility prob, i'm running 3 Hitachi HDs SATA and SATA2 with no trouble. Which SATA ports did you connect them to?Quote:

Mine are connected to SATA 0 & SATA 1 (Both red sockets at the bottom). Havn't tried connecting them both to black ones but I don't think that makes any difference, or does it??Quote:

Will see if I can get hold of another sata drive to test but in the meanwhile any idea is appreciated!
Yeah, SATA 1 and SATA 2 (the red ones) are the recommended ones for boot disks while 3 and 4 are for data disks according to the manual. Reverting to plain SATA having no effects then i am clueless as what could cause the trouble, sorry mate.Quote:
