It isn't. I've had issues where after playing games for a while pings would show well below 0ms.... which promptly funkbuster doesn't like or cause wierd behavior on steam. After installing this driver no more of that wierd ping. (some programs can't read negative ping and think you have way too high ping to keep on going... which is understandable... negative pings shouldn't exist... :P)
My retrospective thought is that the driver went into racing condition on 2 cores... So this driver seems to help with this situation in general (which could be helpful on multithreaded application that requires I/O access it seems at least)

To be honest on phase... from my exprience with newcastle cores at least, prime stable could be higher than gaming stable on newest games. My guess is it is very dependent on how much power you could get out of PSU reliably. People talking about stability here usually tend to talk about bench stable and can be misleading for many of 24x7 users. For example, think I had prime 95 stable 3.2ghz FX-55 with single phase back than, however, actual gaming stable was 3.1ghz or so on that one. (Think it was OCZ 500W back than...) On water though, prime stable usually was lower number than gaming stable. It might have been that I pushed memory controller to even higher degree that might have mattered... If these 2 factors doesn't count in, gaming stable usually are about 100-150mhz higher than prime 95 stable.

Soo just in terms of OC'ing is there a difference btw all of the DFI LP nf4 * boards (namely the SLI and the Ultra boards)? Can't even figure out the differences between some of them :(

All of the DFI NF4 board are the same layout, same bios, and OC the same. Only difference between different board versions are the extra gig lan, sli, and sata ports.

Is this normal guys?:

I open up 1 Super PI, and set affinity to CPU 0. I then open another Super PI directory and set it to CPU 1.

Doing this both cores passed 32mb PI at 11x220 with 1.325Vcore. I then tryed 11x225 with the same Vcore fails, then tryed it by lowering Cas to 3 on memory, same. Then bumped the Vcore to 1 higher. Core 0 kept goin goin 32 for about 3 mins, while Core 1 failed quickly.

Is it normal to have one core worse than another? Seems i have that. Suppose i need more volts.

Also on Asus A8N-E, where is the chipset voltage? i cannot seem to find it?

Also does anyone know the voltage i can use and timmings on my memory?

Yup, thats normal, I've had two x2 both of mine have had core 0 as the weaker core.

I guess if you put down the benjamins for the 4800 or 4600 you are probably getting two cherry cores that can clock comparably to one another.

I can live with my 4400 running 2.5ghz at 1.55 vcore for 24/7 stable but its a far cry from what a select few have been able to achieve with their x2's at lower vcore.

Thanks. Has anyone done any cooling mods on the VRMs? Like cooling the back of the mobo? Those of you that have posted SS show 50ish-c temps. Guess thats not bad but could be better right? =)

As far as I know, all this driver does is add something to the BOOT.INI and enable Cool and Quiet within Windows.

Therefore = useless, especially for overclockers.

Wow you need 1.55 for 2500mhz?

After my last post i tryed the same settings with 1.350Vcore for 2475mhz, but i put the memory on a divider (333). Both cores passed Super PI, seems my memory maxes at over 220. Not surprising for 2Gb.

So how do i go about getting around 220ish FBS while still maxing my CPU?

Higher cost doesn't always guaranty better results. I had one 4800 with a horrible core1 and another that both are very good.

Well the boot ini thing fixes something in the way pcmark05 works so it probably won't hurt to install it.

What kinda temps do people get on air with these?

My room is down to around 23C and i get 48C load with 1.35Vcore? i this to high?

I guess I should have stated you have a higher likelyhood of getting a better all around cpu, the 4800 seems to be clocking much better then the 4400's from what I can tell, just my observation.

My 4400 is a pig, I'm going to use it for a while before buying another one and sell this one on ebay, it takes 1.39vcore for 100% 24/7 stable 2.42ghz, that extra 80ish mhz is a brutal jump. I had to switch to a water cooling setup as the xp120 air cooling was just way to loud in order to keep temps in check.

Couldn't agree more..... :) I'm seeing alot of 4400's doing 2.6 or better, and the majority of the 4800's doing 2.75 max........ Seems like a hell of a premium to pay for 100 -150 Mhz....... $400.00 to $500.00 for bragging rights is asinine.......

Not for me. It did fix my strange ping issue. Couldn't play BF2 too long on low latency server until I got the problem resolved for more than an hour.

LOL well me too !

I just want to OC with the IHS still on first, but I almost always get impatient and take the IHS off the first 2 mins I have a chip. hehe

So what is RAM and HTT? I don't understand. Ram would be 220 and HTT 440?
