If I don't see anything by the 15th, I am just gonna ask my parents for a winne :D :D . I have been waiting to build a computer since June 2004. Now I finally have the money, but AMD is relesing Venice. I am really pissed off.
Maybe Monarch Got a hint from all the E-mails they got about Venice :rolleyes:
assuming this isnt your first build, you should be used to this. once you build a pc try to ignore the new releases, otherwise you will always end up kicking yourself.
Ive waited a year almost to build a new rig, but since the updates keep coming, i could wait forever, literally.
I guess everyone is for the venice core CPU. Like me, I've been waiting and holding off on building a system for sometime now. Not sure how much longer I can wait. Right now, I am even considering an Intel 6XX with SLI for Intel motherboard since this CPU is readily available now. Okay, what I'll do is wait on which one will comes out first, the AMD venice or a decent SLI motherboard (Intel). So wait starts! (again)
A newcastle AMD is better than Intel.

What I ment was that even a newcastle rated at the same spped as an intel, is better. I don't want people to think that only the High-End AMD chips are better then Intel.

i say we all email monarch or newegg and ask for the Venice. The more emails they get the more they will want to sell the venice. I already emailed monarch and it does sounded like they're holding back. i'm going to regret buying early, but i'm desperate. the consensus is that buying something new at a later stage is better, especially cpu. amd always improve yields on chips. anyhow, lets all email these etailers and hope they will make a move.
I rang Elara and they say that they are expecting those cpu as per what they website states. I asked about the 90nm FX-55 and saying that its not on AMD roadmap but the customer service told me that they are coming. I guess I'll wait till the 18th and see whether I can purchase Venice/San Diego. Quite tempted to get the 90nm FX-55 since its only €500 but I wonder rev D0 have the cold bug. Anyway, I'll let you guys know whether I could buy it from them on the 18th :)

Guys, it's not the retailers, or e-tailers that's holding these chips back, it's AMD's Distributors...Newegg, ZZF, Monarch, et-al don't buy from AMD, they buy from AMD's Distros...so as much as these e-tailers are easily accessable to us, and we like to bug them for answers and such, they really don't have any say in when they get the Venice chips really...AMD and their Distributors are not treating the Venice Core as anything new or different...it's just a newer revision of their 90nm product-line...that's why there hasn't been a launch per-se, and that's why we can't really call this a Paper Launch like some people are starting to do...fact is the Venice core did ship to the distributors Apr 4th, they're sitting in warehouses right now, but the Distributors are just clearing out their stock of older products first (winchesters) the same as any other business would do...the Overclocking community as a whole is the vast minority of sales for AMD CPU's, so while WE are all very excited about these chips and anxious to use them, the general populous and OEM builders could care less...the Distributors in general don't care about moving a couple thousand venice CPUs for the OC community when they've still got thousands and thousands of Winchesters on their shelves, it's no different as far as they're concerned, and a few OCers wanting the chips won't convince them to leapfrog their current stock levels to put out new products before the old is sold...I'm sure that the e-tailers and such aren't heartbroken over this decision since it means greater anticipation for a portion of their customer-base meaning they can bump the price and such to take advantage of the situation while still offering the older products to the mass-market who don't care if it's Venice or Winchester...even if we could get these e-tailers to bug their Distro's for release of the Venice chips to the consumer market, they collectively make up a small portion of these companies business and would likely not be able to convince the Distributors to change their policies...fact is the only people that will actually benefit from them releasing the Venice chips is us...everyone else in the loop is better served keeping these chips in the warehouse for the time being, and that is why we're just going to have to wait unfortunately...hopefully next week we'll see a few start trickling in
i wonder if i can stop by the local ingram micro warehouse near me and beg for a venice core a64 :). it would be nice to know someone who works for amd distribution :). i think next week will be interesting and time seems to slow down when you anticipate something you really want.

If AMD has shipped Venice, that means they stopped making winchester a long time ago, several weeks in fact. In that case, there shouldn't be too many winchesters out there. So according to theories that we will see Venice once winchesters are sold, we should see venice very soon.
By the way, enthusiast are a huge part of AMD's market. A simple computer builder will be more likely to go with Intel. Even mass market producers such as HP still use s754 AMD CPUs, so us, the OC'ers, may be a bigger part of AMD's market then some may believe.

sometimes, the little shops surprise you and have new product before the bigger etailers like newegg or zzf or monarch. besides these stores are in california. anyway, i placed an order with sparco, also in california. if newegg or monarch has before sparco, i'll just cancel the order and go with monarch or newegg. 200$ at sparco for a 3200+.
