Try moving the usb and ps2 power jumpers to the non default positions on the MB. See the manual for this. It should help.

IDE and SATA problematic?

Anyone have in their setup both an IDE and SATA drive?

My setup includes one SATA drive and one IDE drive.. Today I was playing around with the comp trying to get it stable, but it was very unstable.. So i started to run it at stock speeds, and the system was still crashing..
The SATA is my primary drive

I was running 200HTT 9X multiplier, 5XLDT, 2.0-2-2-5 ram, on Vcore 1.45 Vdimm 2.8 (nothing lower seems to work) and the comp was still crashing..
So I flashed my bios to 2/17, disconnected the IDE hard drive, and as well the Front USB and Firewire ports from my case.. Cleared the CMOS and rebooted..

Now this is the second time I have gone to bios 2/17 (went from 209-217-218-209-217) and I have been priming for about 2 hours now and the system is rock stable..

Before when I had the IDE plugged in I could not even disable or enable my nvida network connection without the computer crashing..
Now I can enable and disable the network connection no problem and have been running prime for about 2 hours at
HTT 250
4X LDT
CPU MULTI 9X
RAM 2.5-4-3-7
Vcore 1.475
Vdimm 2.9
Ldt 1.5
Chipset 1.7

Seems like the IDE was causing some instability issues.. anyone else have an IDE and SATA ??? Also I do not have the raid drivers installed, but I am not trying to run raid..

I'm currently running both SATA and PATA devices with my Ultra-D, and no errors happened. May be you should try the newest BIOS. 218 or newer :toast:

I have tried all three (209,217,218) and all three experienced the same problems.. my prime is still running fine approaching 6 hours.. looking like it might be stable.. hmm .. have to investigate the IDE some more

I am running an 80G WD like yours (OS) and dual Raid 0 arrays without any issues. Make sure any jumper pins on the rear are pulled. DO NO set as Master if a single drive. I can guarantee you will have those issues if you do.

@aver - No, not what I was trying to say.
DO Not set to Master, slave, or cable select if using a single WD drive.

Pull the lil jumper out (and save of course) from WD's site

Check out this thread ... its a little convoluted but I think it might be worth a read. The review that is linked in that thread is for Geil Ultra Plat PC4000 which has the same memory I picked up from Fry's. I think the non Plat version of the Geil Ultra PC4000 have the same D43 but might be the ones that weren't as good as the Plats. Still, If Punisher is right about his ID of IC on the Geil PC4000 Ultras in his New RAM List!!! thread, then I have been testing D43 with no compatibility problems.

BTW - I'm using the 2/09 bios.

hi i have a serious problem with my dfi sli-d .Every time i copy data from one disk to another one(raid & IDE) i get machine_check_exception BSOD ... is where any solution???

been reading alot about probs and how to solve em and how to start when u get ur mobo...

allrighty

after lookin a lil further ive put the memory in the orange ones and just tried it :D

and it works!!

no DOA for me :D

installed xp, and didnt get any bluescreens or whatever

just tried first bit of overclocking too...
just augmented the fsb a lil...
but even from 200 to 210, it wouldnt boot in winxp anymore.... :(

hope my cpu doesnt suck azz... :/

@ Anyone with TCCD ram that don't work very good.

Use these settings in the bios.

Skew Value: 255
Drive strength: 2

I can now run 289mhz 2.5-4-3-7 1T @ 3v

Did you leave DQS Skew Control on Auto?
