Guru that is considered. All of the pumps on my reccomendation list are very quiet. the DDC and the 50Z being prettty much inaudiable. a 120mm fan at 5volts is louder than it.
the iwakis are a little louder but afaik i mentioned that. but even then the noise is very minimal...

What is the power draw and heat-dump of the pump? I would expect it to be at least 55 watts draw and about 30 watts heat-dump, or at least worst than the BlueLine-800. Any ideas?
I just ordered WMD-20RLZT from customaquatic:cool: and I hope it fill's my needs. :p: I've built a remote chiller system and hope to get the max flow through a DD TDX w/#4 nossel. I'm using a mag 7 right now and it's doing a little under 2gpm:( at 4psi on the pressure side. The loop, out and back, is about 45 feet with a 2 1/2 foot rise through 1/2" pvc pipe. Think it'll work?? :shrug:

Has anyone got the DangerDen 12V-D5? I want peoples comments about it as im planning to use one for my water-cooled setup :) (once over-clock.co.uk has that rad. mounting kit in stcok!! :slapass: :dammit: )
Hi, I'm also wondering if anyone has any experience with the XSPC (http://www.xspc.biz/pumps.php) pumps (also sold as CoolWave).
I know they aren't as powerful as some of the pumps mentioned, like the Iwakis et. al. but the above mentioned pumps are available locally and are quite affordable (to the extent that I could buy two to use in series and it would still be cheaper than an Eheim HPPS).
Which brings about my second question, about having two pumps in series. Could it work out? I know some people have done so for extra pressure.
Would I need a res/t-line behind each pump, or only the first? How exactly should it be set up?

Got my Iwaki WMD-20RLZT on wednesday :woot: . Lookin' at 2.5gpm now in my big ol' 45' loop! :clap: It blows away the mag 7 I was using.

The Iwaki is the third pump I've bought for this system trying to get good flow rates and this one hit a home run. :) The others were a Ehiem 1250 and The Mag7.
The Mag7 was a lot better than the Eheim but still wasn't doing the job. Maybe because my water loop is 45b feet long! :D
I had a hard time deciding between the 20RLZT and 20RLT but picked the 20RLZT because of the length of my loop. But the 20RLT may have done the job just as well.
I'm also in the market for a good pump. At least I think so, because after seeing this pic I'm not sure I should upgrade:

I see you recommend the 50z. I have a L30. And I doubt my loop is very restrictive, having a heatercore and all.. My Asetek blocks are restricting the most I guess - Antarctica plus maby GPU. Should I upgrade? What if I'm adding another dual heatercore? Thanks :D

The pump sounds really nice.. it is very good that it is both fast and silent. However that thing is HUGE! :eek: I don't think I can fit that into my planned setup. I will have everything internal in my case. Thanks :)Quote:

Been reviewing some of my results with the 50Z/MCP600, in comparison to the Iwaki RD-30.
If the 50Z is run at 15.0v it will pretty much match the Iwaki RD-30 @ 15.0v in terms of single-pump performance for characteristics of flow/pressure, but do so with slightly lower heat dump.
There are two concerns with doing this though:
1) At 14.8v in free-flow mode, or at 15.0v in dead-head mode, the impeller magnetically decouples from the motor, however can run up to 16v if in-between (i.e. pushing flow through a water-loop that's offering some degree of back-pressure). If the impeller decouples, then the pump will stop pumping water altogether, which is not a good thing to be sure.
2) 15.0v is a LOT higher than the stock 12.0v, and may dramatically decrease pump life-span.
So that is perhaps one, potentially risky, avenue to pursue in the quest for the ultimate in single-pump performance when balancing in pump heat dump, pressure head, power draw and flow.
Just thought that I'd throw it out there for people's consideration given the rarity and expense of the Iwaki RD-30's.
i know RD series pumps are very rare (and expensive), but where do you get them? a secret supplier?
Hmm.. I will have to put overvolting in my reivew of the 50Z. I wonder how much the pressure changes when u overvolt it (stew i know you have test results, i just watn to test for myself)
