unless your pro has the XT layout you cant see the temperature. I dont see the importance of measuring it though

I have noticed that the ASUS 256MB card is sopposed to be a XT degraded also, but will it overclock better?
Anyone know the results? Has it been seen with max OC?
I want to make the jump to a 256MB version, but I have Tyan 9800Pro right now and able to OC to 440/380 with stock cooling with no artifiacts. I haven't tried to max it out down to the last mhz, but I do know at 445mhz core it starts to show artifacts and at 385mhz mem it starts showing artifacts also...
My temps according the the monitor show mid to high 50C on the core and 40C on the memory, but I know for a fact that this inaccurate.
It shows 1.66v on the core and 2.91v on the mem core. I had an Tyan 9700pro at 1.9vcore and was able to run it at 420mhz with stock cooling in 3dmark, but with artifacts, only 405mhz w/o artifacts.
If no one knows how well the Asus 9800pro 256mb does?, maybe I'll take plunge.........

I got mine on friday from the egg. They charge tax in TN now :mad: . Anyway, I ordered the retail sapphire 256mb. It's a 9800xt just like the pictures at the beginning. Unfortunately, at normal room temps I cannot reach 412 core with the stock cooling. When I left the window open last night, I was able to reach 423 with the stock cooling.
Quick question, will the vga silencer fit this? I know they are supposed to fit 9800pro's, but this is the XT pcb. I ordered a rev2 already with some ocz copper ramsinks, but want to be reassured before it gets here.

Rev 3 is already out and is aluminum.
Yeah the revision 3 is the same thing, just adds support for 9600's

well here is the thing.., im finaly going to get my old ti4200 a break, and upgrade and then this.... what to do ?
what i need to hear is that this really is worth the extra $ since in Denmark where im from the difference is between a std 128mb pro and the "XT"->pro version is like $160 which i think is alot of money, for just some extra ram.....
9800PRO 128MB = $280
9800PRO->XT 256MB = $450
so seriosly is it worth it, mind you that i proberly wont be going for the new chip from ati anytime soon...
and from what i can read in this thread, people aint going as high as a standard PRO which is kinda not good...
any thoughts ?

For the huge price difference, i don't think 256MB of memory is worth it right now ...
If you play games at high res and high AA/AF (basically everything cranked) it is.
Received and installed my VGA silencer today. It dropped my temps by 7C idle and 14C load. I can only go up to 428 on my core though :( . This thing is begging to be volt-modded, but I can't do it. I am happy though, my only goal was to get a perfectly working 9800XT for the price of a 9800pro. In that area, I succeded :) .
