7870 should be a bit faster than 6970 at ~150w.
7770 should be around 6870 at ~100w.
If your estimation/prediction is correct, then it would be quite a coup for AMD IMHO, a nice performance improvement this time around. I certainly hope this will be the case, gotta be more patient, just 3 more days to go.
My HD 4870 1 GB is veeery long in the tooth, though it still does its job quite decently, i'm not too demanding with the bells and whistles of newer games's IQ. That Pitcairn stuff would be just right placed in my PC in the next few months (after competition arrives and supply getting better). :)
Got to tell you,a 7770 fanless and with no auxilliary power, but with performance of a 6870 would be awesome...
Rofl 1.6x, 'avin a laugh.

A lot better lol. :D
It's wrong interpreted.. SC2 is Civ V and Borderlands is Battleforge also lack of settings..

Something like this? ;) Settings are impossible to read....

:D
nice graph
AvP 19x12 1xMSAA
Batman AA?? 25x16 8xAA 16xAF
Battleforge 25x16 8xAA 4xAF??
Civ V 25x16 4xAA 16xAF
Crysis 2 25x16
Crysis Warhead 25x16 8xAA 16xAF
Deus Ex 25x16 MLAA 16xAF
F1 2010 25x16 8xMSAA 16xAF
Metro2033 25x16 4xAA 16xAF
Stalker COP 25x16 16xAF
Shogun 2 25x16
45% faster than GTX580 according to AMD PR slide settings are mostly at 25x16, so in real life it should end up ~35% at 19x12
neliz Again!
AvP = 19x12, ?xMSAA
Batman AC = 25x16, 8QxAA, 16xAF
Battleforge = 25x16
Civ 5 = 25x16, 4xMSAA, 8xAF
Crysis 2 = 25x16
Crysis Warhead = 25x16, 8xAA (I think), 16xAF
Deus Ex = 25x16, MLAA, 16xAF
F1 2010 = 25x16, 8xMSAA, 16xAF
Metro 2033 = 25x16, 4xMSAA, 16xAF
Stalker CoP = 25x16, 16xAF
Shogun 2 = 25x16
That's how I read it anyway.
Final then?

Civ V, battleforge, Stalker CoP would be a brutal jump compared to 6970 if this is true... other in the 40-50% improvement range. 3days to go to know for sure. I am looking for 6970ish performance at lower consumption and good CF scaling, hope 7870 will be just like that :D
Sorry if i misunderstood your answer but 7700 and 7800 ain't gonna be VLIW anymore, they're apparently GCN too.. So those Compute units are real".
ok yea i know its semiaccurate, but still info is info :)Quote:
Remember that we previously reported the latest low-end discrete GPU offerings from AMD will be re-brands? Well, it looks like the low-end desktop offerings will get the same treatment. In a series of documents detailing the next low-end discrete GPU offerings from AMD, all of them indicate that AMD will not make a low-end part based on the Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture, but instead they are all re-brands of the legacy VLIW5 products, and are targeted, at the time of publication, to OEMs only.

I think the image is not scaled properly... if it's going to be shorter than the 6970 then not by that "much".
Really? If that is the case then it gets Interresting. But I don't know if it's good or bad. It depends on if GCN has higher performance per unit and Hz compared to VLIW4 in games as well. If it's just in GPGPU applications it's faster then I think VLIW4 is better for 7870 since it seems like a less complex and cooler architecture. But on the other hand now we really can compare VLIW4 and GCN clock for clock in games. :)
Radeon HD 7970 close to HD 6990 - Fudzilla
Quote:
When compared to the HD 6970, the HD 7970 is around 50 percent faster in 3DMark 11 Extreme test. It scores around 2800 points while the HD 6970 can get up to around 1800 points. The HD 6990 scores around 3400 points in the same test, but according to our sources, HD 7970 is more than happy with a good OC that draws the card an inch away from the HD 6990.
