Well if ya bought it from newegg send it back.. they dont check or care.
excaliber..... *sigh* newegg was out wheni got it.
Oh boy.. Well all i can say is clean it all up as best you can and carefully move tht pin back into place and take a chance.
Tell them the board starting smoking and it took your drives with it. You had a bad board anyway and was going to RMA it so you're just telling a white lie.
it's not like you're scheming on them or something.
ill tell them it wouldnt boot!
then i heard a crackle and now it wont boot again... no lie in that lol.
and as we know that IC is *TINY*
if you werent loking specifically for it you would never see it.
What the hell? A grabber that costs over a hundred dollars? Can I get a picture of one of those?
Gold with diamond tips. :DQuote:

Looks like it's the same as the V-Link mod (VDD) for MSI K8T Neo/K8T800 VIA mobo for Athlon 64. So it's 5k pot to pin2 and ground on LM358 chip.
I wouldn't recommend using mosfet as ground point.
Anyone wanna try? Ohterwise you should ask Shamino aka. LardArse and make sure i'm right.
Nice try Evil ;)
BIOS 13 is the last for AN7 !?
correct as far as i know. it is the last and only bios release for the AN7. and i didnt like it.
$5.50
five dollars and fifty cents lol.. boy how a typo can get people amazed :p:
ill post pics of the grabbers i used tonight. and that pin2 to ground with a 5k pot soudns right to me. from my experimenting that shoudl work,.
But it's hard to know which is pin 2 since I don't see a dimple or circle for pin orientation.Quote:

tech look at my schematics i posted, those *ARE* correct. 100% sure. i tested it all myself and then marked the pins. those are correct, pin2 is the pin you see i burned, so you need only to get a 5k VR and go pin2 to ground with 5k tween them. if i end up getting another AN7 ill try it if you dont want to risk it.
grabber full shot.
the tip
the whole doodad in my paw. to show relative size of this stuff..
here is a chip of the same size as the one on the AN7 that were messing with in my attempted mod.
it has teh grabbers on it as you can see, thats how it was done on the AN7 aswell.
check white paper which pin or pins are ground there should be at least one. then measure the resistance on each pin.
btw, i would rather use 20k pot for starters just to be safe.
Yes that's a good approach. But I'd like to have my 1/2 multipliers before I do a mod.Quote:

I'm pretty surprised a new bios hasn't been issued already.
But I relly want to Vdd mod this board to decide what's what with it.
OH BTW Sporker,
great pics. I'd like to pick up the A70 but I want a cancorder so I'm passing on cameras for now. I do have my eyes on the cheaper A60 though. Also good I hear.
But do you guys know if JVC or Panasonic makes the better
analong camcorder?? Sorry off topic I know
A60 is the same as the A70, only 2megapixel instead of 3.2
just go on ebay and grab an A70 for abotu $250.
back to topic, i used a 15k pot and it provided too much resistance. i needed about a 5k pot. and i did map out which pins where which using the ground. i posted pics of it on the last page.
that mapping of the IC IS correct. unless they put the IC on upside down.... couldnt be. COULD IT?!
also SHOUDL I GET ANOTHER AN7?!?!?!?! im sending my RMA in tonight and i dont know if i should just get a replacement or a refund!!!! HELP ASAP I NEED TO TELL THEM.
How about a DFI !? I like his Infinity mobo..
You know what,
it would be nice to see if the board is any better and/or you get a newer one. The only thing I'll say for this board is that it OC's CPU's very well. The problem is you can't go too high to be really use it but if you're willing to stay under 220, it's OK.
But not untill they fix the 1/2 multiplier issue and stabilize the board.
The sensible thing to do is get a refund and wait for rev 1.1. It won't be a long wait; my bet is Abit will release it in the first Quarter of '04. It makes business sense that they'll get the new revision out sooner rather than later cause a new revision will help ease potential buyers' concerns about getting a cut-up mobo (among other issues).Quote:
