Turns out most of the hotels are fully booked. If you're still looking for accomodation the Beauty Hotel is one of only a handful that still has rooms available at a reasonable price. Only 8 double rooms still available after my booking.

It never even occured to me that some people may have visa issues...

I'm surprised your visa's take so long. It takes us 3 days here in South Africa and we're usually lagging way behind the rest of the world.
Sorry to hear the bad news artkobe. Don't they have some kind of emergency application? We've got that option here as well. For a small fee you can have a visa approved in 24 hours.
