This is 1hr OCCT 2.0 MIX stable, and i take 1hr mix as atleast 8hr of prime or orthos.

noticed that Large FFT did NOT crash where OCCT did after mintutes.

Played for some hours now..

and the bios are working really good now i think..

reached FSB 565, 570 locked nomather that PL.

i was so stupid when playing I allways had strap 333 on, and i got mad why it didnt posted at 550...hehe...smart :S as soon as i changed to 400 i booted right up at 560 and loaded windows.

no PL lower than 7 are capable of 500fsb.

have a question, does ANYONE know how i can change the TREF in bios? it chooses the lowest value nomather what setting or timing i choose.
i gain over 100mb/s by putting this on highest setting.

Second question. as soon as i put vMCH over 1.73 it just dont want to play anymore..
its that magic number, 1.75+ it just starts over after post... someone else? I could surely reach more fsb it this would work.
565 at 1.73 are max

think the board are starting to feel better now :)

These random reboots may be a software conflict. Maybe with java.

Are you running the same BIOS settings that you posted above with the 333 strap now at 565 fsb on the 400 strap?

Of course bad hardware will cause software conflicts

Randon boot problems
In theory, this is a driver or other software issue, which encounters a stack problem. In practice, it has historically pointed to a driver problem and also occurs when RAM itself is flawed.

Has anyone tried NUNO suggestion and increase Vcore?
For random reboots.

I have a HD Sony camcorder that records AVCHD m2ts files. The Sony Picture Motion Browser software only supports 32 bit OS which is why I went that way initially. I have now learned that there are other players/codecs that are available that should work to play these files. Also the video editing software, Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Edition supports 64 bit.

After thinking about things for a bit, I decided to go exactly your way and go with the OCZ Reapers-1800 2x2GB. I have 32 bit vista currently but am going to be switching over to 64 bit soon. OCZ customer service was again very helpful when I talked to them today. I am going with the X-Ship RMA so the Reapers should hopefully be in the mail to me soon.

What do you recommend for inital NB voltage settings? Do you have DRAM static read and DRAM dynamic write disabled? Any other settings that you've found beneficial? I am planning to go with default fsb 400MHz and DRAM frequency 1600 MHz. Hopefully be able to work up from there in time but like you say, no hurry.

I think some people maybe not thinking that the penryn does change in vcore after a while...
and you have to raise it a little.. it can run almost daily work with to low vcore actually...
this cpu are not as sensitive as conroe. It could also be wrong settings for the PLL and vFSB
if you¨re not running specially high fsb keep these settings low, and also dont forget GTL and RAM skew.

Sauria: No not at all :) i tried to push it to the max more or less..
Loosened up Clock twister to light, Ram timings to CL8 and various volts.

but high fsb like that requires some nasty vMCH.

@voodo, if you dont mind, ..what strap, pl and twister setting were you using at 466fsb post 279

Sorry, too lazy to resize right now. Here is a link to my settings. http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/fo...t=38299&page=2 The northbridge is kinda high, but I tested lower settings and on my board, even 1 click lower resulted in some instability while gaming. Since I set these, no signs of instability whatsoever. I just placed a fan over the NB so I would feel better. Perhapse If I relaxed the clock twister a notch or 2 I could get away with less NB voltage, but what fun would that be?

Also, the Vcore may look high, but under load while priming it is actually about 1.294v and at idle it is 1.31v. I DO NOT use the LLC PERFORMANCE setting.

I will confess that I don't know exactly, but I believe it manipulates some of the internal chipset timings much the same way that dropping the performance level does. It Lowers latency and increases bandwidth.

For example, at 400mhz, I could run PL 6, but only with clock twister set to AUTO, now, if I had 2x1gb sticks, I may have been able to set the clock twister more aggressively. At 450, I have to run PL7, but I am able to set the clock twister to Stronger, and probably get nearly the same performance. Asus bios seem to have some redundant settings. In older boards, I thought enabling the STATIC READ CONTROL did much the same thing, but on this board, it doesn't seem to do much.

If you try to get too aggressive with the clock twister for a given performance level, stability will be negatively affected. However, if you are willing to run higher NB voltages you can re-gain that stability.....to a point.

I am still not completely sure that 1.57v 24/7 os ok, since these boards don't report NB temperature, but I do have a fan on the NB heatsink, so I should be OK. I also found that even though a system could be prime stable for hours, you still need to test with some heavy gaming like Crysis, because the added load from taxing the PCI-E bus told me I wasn't COMPLETELY stable till I raised the NB one more notch.

Well. personally, i dont think it gain nothing in real life performance by having at stronger.. :) but i dont care either.. im at stronger and i gain 100mb/s read by that, and then im using it!! :)

no one knows exactly what it does, but i do also think that it is like soapman says... some internal NB settings. but if you feel some instability just get this down a notch..
its mostly from strong to stronger it doesnt do almost anything, but loosening this up more do hurt performance.

I managad to reduce my vdimm now to 2.06 for 1869 TIGHT timings with TRFC at 48! that's low at that speed :) Did play some with the Dram Skew settings, and delayed it as soulcalibur(dont remember exactly:)) said, and it feels good, and still getting over an hour in Occt MIX.
be aware of using TO high vMCH couse this will only hurt stability, it likes the exact value for the given settings in bios.

Didnt know that it dit not monitor the NB.. what Temp are the onboard sensor showing then?? thought it seemed odd, it baraely changed, 2 degrees it changed over an hour of OCCT :)

Now I have a question. Has anyone played with the "Pull in" of the farious "phases" under transaction booseter? It is my understanding, that if you pull in all phases, you would het similar performance to fropping the performance level one notch. I havent ever touched these though. Anyone?

Also, would you need to pull in the first phase before you can pull in the second? It would seem so, but I don't know about these settings.

Disabling legacy usb and expressgate made it possible to get past system post with altered bios settings. :up:

When i test my sticks at 1333Mhz (fsb333) with memtest86 v3.4a i always get errors in test 4.
When i run them at 1600Mhz (fsb400) i dont get any errors. (did 2 passes)

Someone know how this can be??

I am running OCCT v2.0.0a but i dont realy have a clue what it good for.
It does shows temps near 60 deg.

How does this program give feedback, as to determining a succesfull OC?

After having spent some time reading some of the posts on Corsair and OCZ tech support forums, it looks like some people may have better stability after disabling DRAM static read control and DRAM dynamic write control. You could give that a try. I personally haven't noticed much of a difference.

I think that perhaps you may notice the most improvement by applying some clock skew delay. Check out SoulsCollective expierence. He is also running Corsair ram. And, given the fact that you are running 4GB ram I believe that clock skew is likely going to be all the more important.

Soapman: Yes been playing some with these, its some kind of "mild" Performance Level... maybe something that just lowers just RAM internal timings of some kind?
and the performance i got was the same as PL 6 even when i had PL7 at the moment, dont really know if you have to pull in all channels, but maybe you have to, tried the other day again, and performance were not as before i pulled all, but maybe it just was a coincidente together with som other settings i forgot that i changed at the moment.

Kazi: Yes, OCCT are a stability program as every else, but "people" and the creator says occt are a notch better on detecting errors earlier than other program..
so they say that 1hr are like 6-8 ORthos/prime hours. The point with these program are to see if your computer are stable, and dont crashes etc when playing games, rendering som heavy stuff. and you'll be noticed if there are some error detected i promise, and when its finished its finised, if you have chosen that options.
