New EK CPU block!!

I ordered 88gt nickle plated and ek supreme, but unfortunately kept the rad from TT kandalf LCS tower as i didn't have enough money:shrug:


As my 8800gt broke down before I put on the block, i can only post results from a loop: res->ddc-1t (modded plus)->ek supreme->TT rad->res

Must say I'm pretty satisfied as I know the rad sucks... up to 7C drop from TT waterblock (before up to 52, now 45C), cpu@ 3500 1.34V, tried a bit @4000 1.6V, around 59C... this rad sucks

What backplate are you using, that looks real sturdy. Did that come with the EK supreme?

they're the same backplates that come with the big typhoon and they bend like CRAZY :down:

Well,
I have some bad news.
The block won't fit on my Gigbayte P35-DQ6 (rev. 1.0), as it is blocked by the mosfet cooler.
The mounting plate is about 3mm to long, and trying to mount it vertically is no option either, as the NB is to big and blocks the cooler too.
Bummer. :(

No I have to think what I'm gonna do.
Return the block to the store I bought and ask a refund, or choose another block.

I didn't pay for it so I have to mod it afterwards so it would fit my board.
I have another rig with the Abit QuadGT, but my intention was to test it in my primary rig, on my brand new Q6600.

I already Pm'ed Eddy this morning so that he's aware of this issue.
Like you said, maybe he can make some changes to the mounting plate, so it fits all boards with no problem.

If it is too hard to make a universal mounting plate, it would be better to make 2 versions (1 for LGA771/LGA775 and 1 for 754/939/AM2) since the AMD version is often longer than the LGA (rectangular compared to square).

D-Tek already provide 2 versions of the plates and that may be why there is no compatibility issues.

That's why I liked the mounting plates with the Fuzion, 1 for Intel and 1 for AMD.

We checked the boards so the block would fit, but without knowing what kind of a mosfet water block might be there.
So we have already taking actions to supply the plates for the ones with that problems.
We'll make that plate minimum price as possible. I think it will be priced about 4,5 EUR.

As stated before, this should come with your choice of a AMD or Intel mount...at no extra cost.

Sorry, english isn't my native language so I didn't know what the solution exactly was.
Maybe I'll shorten the bracket anyways. I can't wait with that sort of things.

I'll try to make some pics of the block on my P35-DQ6 and measure the clearence between the plate and mosfet cooler / NB cooler and eventually the top mosfet cooler.
I'll have to unmount my Fuzion again, but no biggie.

Kinda reminds me of those anti-cyclone inserts that were released for his reservoirs after the Rev.2 bottoms still didn't fix the bleeding issues :rolleyes:

That's not good... :(

When i saw the block, i thought that it may have clearance probs in new motherboards. I think that with new mb coolers and limited space due to many mosfets will force wb designers to have separate AMD/Intel mounting plates.

BTW i've seen a guy with an Apogee GT having clearance probs with a Maximus. So it'll probably have with EK's also.

Of course i have to mention EK's quick response to this. His support is top notch as always... :up:

You got a point.
If you see what kind of coolers those manufacturers put on their chipsets /mosfets etc... no wonder it sometimes gets difficult to install another cooler.
After seeing a pic of the Asus maximus, no wonder the GT would barely fit.

That's why i got a GTX to pair my nearly finished setup with a Maximus... :)
