A bit OT, but I'm curious:
Why does everybody seem to like Orthos more than dual-instances of Prime95? Orthos is just a dual-CPU 'modified' version of Prime95, correct, or am I missing something?
Also, does anyone know if there's a program to see what strap you're running in? I thought I read about one here in this thread, but the 17 pages have all become a blur, lol. ;)

download the latest offical bios from abit's website and use the "RUNME.BAT" and the "ABITFAE.BAT" that is package with the download to do the flashing for you automatically with two floppy's...change or update the flashing switches in "ABITFAE.BAT" with the switches that are shown below.
if you want to flash a beta bios release, all you do is edit "RUNME.BAT" with the correct file name of the beta bios...FOR EXAMPLE: if you download the "11" official bios and open runme.bat, you would see this file name: M629B_11.BIN...if you want to use any other bios file, you must erase the current file name and put in the new/correct bios file name, ie., M629_12.B01
if you do not have an USB thumb-drive to boot from, then you will need 2 floppy disks and a floppy drive....one disk will have the booting files to get you to a DOS "A:" prompt...the other disk carries your bios file along with the award flasher, runme.bat and abitfae.bat...
all you have to do after booting off the 1st disk is to swap out the bootdisk with the 2nd floppy disk that has your bios file on it....then, from the "A:" prompt, type this syntax: RUNME.BAT...just follow the screen prompts from there, which are a series of hitting the "ENTER" key to get to the final action of flashing...be patient while it flashes off a floppy disk...it takes time (about 2 minutes) for the bios file to be extracted off the floppy and then uncompacted into memory so it can be flashed via the award flashing program....this is why it is important to not overclock and have proper voltage to your memory sticks....i usually set up 2.1v for my Vdimm at default clock speed...additionally, i juice the vcore (about 0.04 or 0.05) up to be on the safe side too!
you can bypass the automatic way of flashing (not recommended) and do it the old fashion way of manually typing in everything including the switches, bios file name and award flashing program...this procedure is more prone to format and spacing mistakes which will abort the flashing process.
HOW TO MANUALLY FLASH BY TYPING THE WHOLE COMMAND LINE:
with the 2nd floppy in your "A" drive and you have the "A" prompt on the screen, you type this: A:AWDFLASH.EXE M629B_12.B01 /py /sn /wb /cd /cp /cc /cks (bios file name was an example)
remember there is one space between each file or switch annotation...there is NO space between the "A" prompt and AWDFLASH.EXE
DO NOT OVERCLOCK while flashing the bios....and...make sure you have proper voltage to your memory sticks like i mention above.
always a good idea to do a full format on the floppy before copying the bios files to the 2nd floppy...if you have a bad sector on that floppy and do not do a full format, it would be just your luck that the bios file would be copied to that part of the bad sector(s) on the floppy disk.

1.53 bios set = 1.47 measured = 1.46-1.47 uguru with 100% orthos load
Yep looks good. I am getting 1.56 idle and 1.54 load orthos. Not bad for 4.0ghz stable.

Hmmm...looks like you may need to sell the P5B Deluxe. This IP35 line is very strong in the overclocking department. Probably a combination of good board design and the new chipset.
Is there any truth to the 2 latest newegg reviews stating that the X-Fi has issues with this board :rolleyes: Anyone using an X-Fi with this board that can comment?

OK...so, sounds like this is settled... any reported X-Fi problems (if there really still are any) are NOT specific to this board.
finally just bought an X-Fi after selling my 'non-Vista' Revo. nice to come here for a sanity check from the newegg reviews and creative forum.
Here's another review of the IP35 Pro at CPU3D.com.
Performance looks pretty solid. They tested with a Q6600 and were a little disappointed with the overclocking as they could only hit 3.375Ghz (9x375).
Note, however, that this is the same max overclock they reached in their review of the ASUS P5K3 Deluxe. The MSI P35 Neo they reviewed hit 3.2Ghz (9x355).
