*update jeez temperature reported in Bios hardware monitor for my CPu are off the charts..it says 70C...wth!???

Does those 3xx BIOS also have the multi upwards unlock on retail E6600 as in 022. Cuz I'm running BIOS 022 right now and it's working perfectly fine for me. According to the BIOS multi is unlock up to about 20 (haven't tested it though). I don't want to change the BIOS if it's not gonna really improve anything and lock my multi upwards. Or do they actually have some improvement worth the update?

Well, I'm on 304 now and I did see the multi unlocked (upward) but did try it. I did notice however that probe temp readings went crazy. It basically added 10C...core temp and TAT readings didn't change tho.

Anyone know if burning in these Conroes have any effect? Trying to hit 4GHZ with reasonable voltage.

I'm in SoCal so subzero temps aren't gonna happen around here. Might just have to settle for 3.87 w/1.48 vcore if this next brunin session doesn't help.

I do about 13 sec SuperPI 1MB. Is that where I should be with relaxed timings?

Getting around 9300 pts on PCmark05 with stock 1900XTX

My systems has been really unstable lately. Program especially web browsers would crash, random reboots. It's driving me nuts!
It have have something w/ the new BIOSs I've been trying? Well I'm trying to change it back to 0209, but damn Asus Updater won't let me because it's older then 0304! @#$%#@%^@$#%@

I upgraded from 0215 to 0304 and now the CPU went from an idle temperature of 40C to 55-60C!!!!!

I have a Floppy drive and a bootable USB drive, but I still can't rollback my BIOS. I have tried both AFUDOS and EZ-FLASH from both the USB boot (EZ FLASH recognizes the USB key), and from the floppy, but I get the message "this bios is older than that currently running" (or some variant of that message). I'm running Vista 5744 and the damn AsusUpdate software doesn't install. Does anyone know how I can rollback to 0215?

Also, I'm having this strange problem where on every single boot (cold or restart), after USB initialization and RAM count, there is a 20-45 second pause (variable) before the HDD, DVD, and USB devices are detected. This is crazy slow and hasn't been fixed by ANY Bios version. I have a Promise SuperTrac 8350EX in there, but I've even tried pulling out the card and I still get the delay. I'm running an Pioneer DVR111D and a WD Raptor 150 SATA.
Has anyone else run into this? HELP :(

Um..under IDE settings try lowering the min detect time. It helped me :)

BIOS 0022 NOTE!

One note I forgot to post!!! I don't know if it's like this on the other BIOSes, but on the 0022 BIOS the 2nd and 3rd memory timing are switched!! The 2nd is RAS Precharge and the 3rd is RAS to CAS Delay!! Remember that!

oh and bios 022 didn't unlock the multi upwards after all....
at least not for my WS64 and my B2 6600....

as for rolling back to a previous bios
even when afudos reports its older than the one u currently use
just use afudos 207

You can use the Asus Update tool to install an older bios. On the drop down menu at the bottom the last entry is Options. Click that and click Next. Click Bios Downgradable.

False high temp readings for new BIOS releases, both 303 and 04, are also getting negative feedback on Asus's official forums. I see no reason to update only to downgrade performance. I would suggest people wait for 306, unless you're a masochist.

Note: I've been told by Asus engineers that certain BIOS releases are designed in a way so that reverting to an earlier BIOS version is not possible: in short, you're stuck with this BIOS if you update. The Level 3 tech support person I spoke to said this is not the case. I went through this nonsense with a locked BIOS update to the A8N32-SLI Dlx mb.
