Its a week 17 engineering sample, really goes well at very low Vcore to MHz ratios and also good for some extreme OC's :D :woot:Quote:

Week 24 6600 on a Asus P5B D. Too bad the 4:5 divider is giving problems. Just put an old 6K series Swiftech waterblock on and the temps went way down. Had to grind down the hold down bracket a bit because when the block sits dead center its right on some caps. Now its cool enough, I think I can give it a bit more core voltage for bench testing.

You guys should all try dropping the multi and raising the FSB. Since you all actually know what the hell you're doing (as opposed to me) you'd probably all be over 500 by now.
DS3. Lowered volts and multi
+1 to MCH
That's it and that's all.

I know, stoopid question...
How do I know which "week" I have with a C2D E6600?
Is it in the FPO/BATCH #?
Yes, it says L6XX Blah Blah... XX is week.Quote:

Hello people, this is my first post to a forum... but I really wanted to get this out because I've seen no press on the matter.
I have the Bad Axe D975XBX AA revision 305
E6600 not oc'd stock HSF... HSF has been cleaned and reapplied 3X
My system idles at 56C while in BIOS or Windows 2K SP4
same system idles at 43C while in XP SP2
Bringing up properties on the My computer icon shows speedstep active in xp with the box running at 1.6Ghz
The C2D's depend heavily on speedstep to keep them cool.
speedstep is built into XP but requires a driver for w2K.
In the past Intel has made it the Laptop Manufacturers responsibility of supplying the speedstep driver for their particular laptop.
Can we persuade Intel to supply speedstep drivers for the BadAxe?
If not, then a core 2 duo would be a poor choice for any w2k system, if it idles at 58C
Oh and by the way Intel has excellent documentation in the E6xx series datasheets, chapter 5.
Thermal 1 - turning clock on and off
and Thermal 2 - voltage drop and multiplier drop occur at 60.1C
Thermal Trip - The shutting off of the processor occurs approximately 25 degrees over Throttling temps about 85C
wow.. looks like a lot of these chips get a lot of good OC with default vcore. impressive. I'm letting my chip burn in a little at default speed/vcore.. it loads at 26c under water. here's the chip details:
http://star.walagata.com/thumbs/agunn_975x3.JPG
not using this mobo any more on the account of it blew a voltage reg. POS.
Update:
priming now @ 3150 with default vcore!
fsb @ 350 / mem 1:1
Asus P5W DH Deluxe 1401 bios
Update #2:
finally had to add some vcore to stablize 3300. vcore = 1.375 now.. still testing but things are looking good so far! :)

just got my week28 E6600 today. It has potential i think. All on air.
Using asus p5b dlx bios 0614. Every voltage are at auto except vdimm 2,05. No problems running thru 3dmark01,03 and 05 at 3500mhz. Also running dual pi 8mb with 3562mhz.

you might wanna see your real voltage of you CPU in bios (vcore), because on AUTO the board gives ~1,6V+ over 400FSB ;)Quote:

I don't know if my cpu is a bad OCer or if there's some bios settings I ought to change, but my e6600 (week 24 + p5w dh dlx 1305) fails in orthos after 5 minutes @ 367*9 w/ 1.47V. I had to use 1.42V to get 356*9 8 hrs orthos stable.
At 367FSB my settings were pretty much the same as everyone else, however i'm using auto on MCH and ICH (tried 1.55V on MCH + 1.20 on ICH + 1.47Vcore). 1:1 and SPD by mobo enabled and vdimm at 2.15. With these settings I got ~74C on core 1&2 (everest). At 3.2G I get ~68C. Using SCNJ & Papst fan. I also have a 40mm fan strapped to the NB heatsink.
To sum it up, changing mch/ich/vcore didn't seem to help getting it orthos stable, but could there be something i've overlooked? Shouldn't it be capable of doing more than 3.2G? Any suggestions are welcome.
Did you disable C1E? What Rams are you using? What are the Ram Timings? Try increasing the Ram voltage or losen the Ram Timings.Quote:
