For anyone interested, I did try and explain what happened with this order. It's not "our" system that's the problem - it's the address check system provided by the banks. I explained that the memory is gone now, but that I'd be happy to help work on circumventing the issue with the processing, should he be interested in purchasing something else.Quote:

Seriously Lestat, I don't think i've seen a positive post from you during the last week. Why being rude with Tankguys ? He offer you his help with courtesy.
I can quite honesltly say, I've recieved nothing but excellent service so far, thanks OPB!

Ditto....I had one stick come DOA (IDK how...the second stick isn't clocking too well either from my quick tests, maybe something happened in shipping?), and got it sorted out in only a matter of hours. Team Group even paid for shipping both ways. TankGuys helped with the RMA process as well, which was a nice touch seeing as they didn't have to :)
I agree with others. Now that I know the quality of these sticks, I'd gladly pay $50 more for another set if need be. (Although I've got another set already on my way for total 4GB. :D) C'mon, it's still $200 less than those Corsair, OCZ, etc. which basically use the same ICs. What more do you want?

Lestat is a waste of time, ignore his nonsense.
As for the ram: TankGuys dropped the ball on my order, shipped just 2GB of the 3-4-4-8 sticks when I had pre-paid for 4GB on the 10th, and are now claiming they're out of the discountinued sticks (when I placed the order they had 50 sets that had just come in, but I waited for a P5W to come back into stock before allowing them to ship them and by the time they did, they were out - despite me pre-paying in full for the sticks at the very beginning. Small shops don't set aside parts as they should when recieving a pre-pay because they have no actual warehouse...they "order" everything through distributors).
They're trying to solve the issue now as best they can, I'll keep the board updated as to the result in terms of customer satisfaction and end result.
Got my Team Group 3-4-4-8 today. D9GMH chips and thankfully no BS heatspreaders. Voltage range on the sticker is 2-2.2V. The sticks in the first post were 1.8-2.2V. Glad my new board goes that high.
Glad I ordered when I did if they're OOS under $200 :) This is the first time in a while I haven't felt ripped off by memory order.
Now all I need is a Conroe :) I've got everything else ready to go.
Mako88,
Why did they have to wait for your board to arrive? ...
The best solution, obviously, would be to send you one of the "new" 3-3-3-8 sets that has the same exact chips. It's not like it's costing them any more money to make the set. I wouldn't settle for anything less if you pre-paid that long ago.Quote:

Lestat, you need to chill bro. And get a CC for christ sakes!
I only got 2GB as well when I paid for 4GB. Since its the weekend I don't expect to hear from them until Monday.
I can't test them either because they don't seem to work on my backup PC (HP slimline which uses DDR2-3200 for stock). I'll have to wait until my Conroe comes :)
Agree, and I'd add in a FedEx overnight 1-day ship time at their expense as well, being that this delay has gone on long enough.Quote:

ewitte: I know how you feel, guess it happened to more than just one or two of us...
I'm fairly positive it will resolve itself before I get Conroe anyway ;) My current "Conroe Ready" main system ;)Quote:

It's a little disconcerting reading these stories about problems with the ram/tank guys as I am dealing with a similar issue. I ordered 2x1gb of the DDR 667 3-4-4-8 ram and recieved it almost two weeks ago now. As I pulled the clamshell container out of the box I noticed a rattle which turned out to be three resistors which had been snapped off one of the sticks. How this could have happened in shipping is beyond me and I'm not willing to fry hardware to see if the other stick was salvagable so I requested an rma with prepaid shipping. Tankguys mailed me a ground shipping label and I promptly sent the sticks back. Since then I've heard nothing concerning my status. Given my experience I would expect Team/Tank Guys to replace my sticks with the new 3-3-3-8 sticks. Is this a reasonable expectation? I'll keep everyone posted on the situation.
My box came from San Jose, which is only 6 hrs from where i live. The box was packed tight, so no damage. Only took several days for the package to arrive to boot. Odd that you guys had long shipping delays and one incurring damage. I hope it all works out for you. This is great ram for the price.
OPB sent my sticks by USPS to the UK, and they had absolutley no damage. I can only guess that you were unlucky. I reckon they will fulfill any problems, they do not strike me as a micky mouse organisation.
Re: Everyone having problems
Yes, I am EXTREMELY sorry about that. Unfortunately, I was on vacation for a week, and that's when these issues happened. I am extremely sorry for the issues with this.
As Mako88 mentions, we are completely sold out of that original 3-4-4-8 stuff. There is absolutely no way now that I can get more... so that puts us all in a big pickle.
As such, here are the options that I've come up with:
1- You can return the 3-4-4-8 kit, at our expense, and get a full refund, including shipping.
2- We can do a free exchange to the newer 3-3-3-8 kits once they arrive in stock.
Those seem to be the best solutions I can come up with. If you have any other ides, I'm all ears - I want to make sure you guys get the most equitable solution to this as possible. Again, I'm really sorry for the screw up here, in the future I will take greater precautions to make sure things run better when I go on vacation.
I'd feel like to explain and urge others to put their shoes in TankGuys' shoes. I read a story of someone who paid for 2 sets and only received 1 set, because:
1. He wanted to get his mobo and the ram together and mobo wasn't available at the time.
2. TankGuys didn't hold a set for him and now it's OOS.
First of all, regarding #1, I urge others not to wait for combined shipping, especially if there is no shipping extra accompanying it. (And chances are there would be no extra shipping if the merchant couldn't ship goods for one shipment because they're OOS) Not all etailers have one big warehouse of their own. They could have multiple warehouses, and stuff might need to be drop-shipped from a wholesaler or even a manufacturer. How many times we see arseholes like HP/Dell screw us off with their inventory? They don't even apologize or nothing. Some of us might remember the BFG 7900GTX fiasco cause by Dell. They basically listed it for $350 (when no one really had it, and few who had it listed it for $550~$600). I ordered one when their page showed "in stock", then a week later I got a delay e-mail, another one 2 weeks later, and another one 2 weeks later, etc. They basically delayed the order forever (even 2 months later when everyone had it for like $500) until everyone gave up.
And #2. If Tankguys indeed charged for the 2nd set, they should have reserved it for the customer, yes. Theoretically they should charge when/after they ship. I hope the issue will be resolved to each other's satisfaction. One thing to remember though, there is a dilemma on the merchant's side - until/without the goods being shipped, the customer can cancel the order. With market being volatic, supply/demand can change any time and sometimes a small guy like TankGuys might not be able to afford to hold goods forever, even if the payment had been made. If the customer cancels the order and there happens to be no demand for the product afterwards, that means extra inventory and their loss.
So don't wait. Get your stuff when it's available. This is by no means a blame or flame on you, but a friendly advice from my past experiences. :)
P.S. Ben, could you PM me regarding my Conroe pre-order? :D
Edit: Oh while I'm writing TankGuys stood up. I'm glad to see that and hope everybody will be happy now.
Tank Guys comes through again! :toast:Quote:
