tried the all betas i seem to be losing my sata drives after 500fsb
u need like 1.8V SB
I did some more tweaking, apparently too much. I tried 1082 with some tightenings, and then BAM. Memtest erros consistently in one area. So I backed it off, to 800, and BAM. Errors in same spot. I drop them in another rig, BAM. Same spot, same stick.
Another stick bites the dust!
So now I have 2gb of Crucial PC6400 with yellow/machined edges spreaders. I'm 99% sure these are fatbodys. I bought these around a year ago and they've been boxed since.
Any links/suggestions to subtimings/trfc/PL/MHZ for these puppies? I'm cruising so far at 1100 5-5-5-15 2.2v.
As far as the RAM, I'm just using stock settings for now, running the 333/800 divider and the recommended 2.1v (shows up as 2.06v in Everest, 2.04v in BIOS). I might get around to turning it down a little, I just don't have a lot of time for testing now that it's fricken hot all the time.
I've read where the 3870 is hit and miss with the TR2 X48 board, but how does the 4850 fair?
Axis
anybody tried crossfire on this board?
Is 41C a high temp for the chipset with all voltages on stock? Ambient temperature is now a little hot, like 28-30degrees and i've got a HR05SLI/IFX mounted on the NB.
I plan to buy more memory, some 2x2GHz kit and need some advice.
Either Corsair Dominator TWIN2X8500C5DF or OCZ DDR2 PC8500 4096MB KIT, Reaper HPC
What kit will play nice/best with this board?
Thanks zsamz and axis....
Then I go for a Corsair kit! :)
What timings and voltage do you use for moment?
Hey guys. This is my first post here but I've been lurking for a while and have over 1,000 posts on another tech forum. In other words, I have plenty of overclocking experience. Over the next six weeks I will be collecting components for my next build to replace my aging NF4 box, which I will not even bother to put in my sig. ;)
After reading this entire 65-page thread, I've decided to go with another DFI board, the x48 LT T2R. I have just a few questions:
1. My plan was to watercool the CPU and NB, put an HR-09 and a 40mm fan on the PWMs, and repaste the stock SB sink. Will that be sufficient cooling or should I go through the trouble to get a PWM waterblock here in the US?
2. I can't decide between the Q6700 and the Q9450 for this board. Do you think there will be a big overclocking difference between them? I guess it comes down to whether this board's FSB will be limiting (therefore making the Q6700's 10x multi important) or the CPU will be limiting (making the 10x multi unimportant). If the difference is less than 200Mhz I will get the Q9450, otherwise the Q6700.
3. I've heard multiple memory recommendations in this thread for 2x2GB kits including the Corsair Dominators, the OCZ Flex II, and the G-Skill kits. I'm thinking of getting the OCZ Flex II PC2-9200, but is there a better choice? Also, I am correct in assuming that 2x2GB is better for than NB than 4x1GB with the load of a quad-core?
Thanks for all assistance. :)
1) that sounds good but the hr-09 wont fit the board, and the stock sink works great with mx2
2) on liquid the q6700 is better
3) ocz flex is bad its aluminum, and restricts flow and since power chips dont get hot its not worth it, and u cant go 4x1GB unless u want to spend alot of money on ghm and with liquid on teh cpu the fsb will be high enough that the powerchips that only do cas 5 will be good. i like the gskill non pi
I have just gotten some time to get back at my QX9770 ... and I have the OCZ Flex ll PC2 9200 DIMMS. I have to say that once I got some voltage to them and re-did my volts on the NB ... I am having some way decent overclocks. I will soon put my rig under water, but not not for another two weeks or so. Been building a house so time with the computer is only when it's raining (like now :p:)
AK
what is everybody getting as far as fsb limit? mine appears to be 535. tested 3 cpu's all same fsb wall of 535 so my only conclusion is motherboard.
Many thanks for the advice. Are you sure the HR-09 doesn't fit? This Thermalright page seems to indicate that it does.
Also, I wasn't actually going to put water through the Flex II, I just liked the PC2-9200 rating. I'll check out those G-Skills. I've also heard recommendations for Corsair Dominators in this thread. I guess this board isn't too picky with memory.
all of those kits are the same just different heat spreaders but they are all powerchips so they dont go hot in the 1st place, and TR says it works it dose but it looks questionable to me
http://www.petrastechshop.com/thhrsmocot2u.html , if u look at the diagram its offset push pins so i would be hesitant
dose any1 know if u can get the hard mounting plate for the hr-09 near the IO panel that the UT boards have to use the LT, and is there any chance of getting one
hopefully some1 like praz can help with this
http://i26.tinypic.com/2dme4k2.jpg
it looks non attached and a support piece
anyway i can delete entries in CMOS reloaded
or is my only option to overwrite them
@Praz: have you tried replacing the TIM under the Transpiper?
Has anyone with a 45nm tried setting "host slew rate" to strong? Anandtech claims that setting helps with 45nm processors.
does anyone have working download links for DFI WinReload? I need both vista and xp.
Download link for Win Reloaded for XP. Don't believe there is a publicly available version for Vista.
Win Reloaded
Hello guys, just got my system together (x48 LT, 4gb 1066 ram, 850w antec, e8500). I have a few questions for you pros. How do I get the 9.5 multi? Alos, can someone please post what I should try for a base line (what volts for what and what needs to be on and off) and what bios? This is my frist DFI board and I'm trying to do this on my own. Oh, I'm on phase too. Thanks.
I can't get my G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PK PC2-8500C5 to boot using the 333/800 strap works fine with the 333/1066  Using DFI LanParty LT X48-T2R and E8500 everything at stock, just cant get it to load windows. It get as far as the WinXP startup sound and then freezes making a screeching sound. I had this problem with the 333/1066 strap, but it worked in the end, but not this time I have removed the card and yet it still won't boot :( Not sure if this is memory or motherboard
Anyone else got this board and memory did you mange to get it working at the 333/800  If so any chance of posting your setting? I'm noob at this so might be a simple setting I have wrong............I hope.
Can someone please post their settings for UT X48-T2R and Q9450?
Also some idle/load temps for the chipset.
Please can somebody post the settings with q6600?? (step by step please...) thank you!!!
Just put in a pair of 4850s tonight, it's working so far. So far it's a bit of hit and miss compared to my 8800GTX (guess I better change the sig). In Crysis, I've seen onetest say 4850CF did better than a single 4850, I've seen one test say it's the same speed, and in my case so far, I get worse speed when I run them in CF instead of a single unit. The single 4850 gets about the same FPS as my 8800GTX. In the Devil May Cry 4 demo and in COD4 multi-player, I'm getting double the FPS in Crossfire than what my 8800GTX did.
Noise wise I'm getting a weird harmonic from them, and they're probably louder than my 8800GTX at load. Heat wise, my system seems to be about 2 degrees warmer at idle, add another degree or two at load. Definately can't wait to watercool these. If I keep em. I expect I will, unless I see a bargain I can't miss, but all things considered, I don't see the 280 dropping below $500 anytime soon.
Which slots are you running the 4850's in? (1-2, 1-3 or 2-3)
Thought of buying UT T2R soon, so which combination of GFX would be the best?
3 x 4850 or 2 x 4870?
is it possible to run with a TRD of 6 (7 Set with all Pull-ins enabled)
@ 400FSB with Mem at 1066 (400/1066 strap)
im using a Q6600 @ 3.6 & 2GB RAM and when i ever i try and test for stability with prime95 the system hard locks unless i set it to 8 with pull-ins enabled
ive tried upping the NB volts up to 1.45 (real)
well ive left all the settings to auto/default ive only changed the following
T2 Despatch = Enabled
timings are 5-5-5-15
Performance Level 7 with all phase shifts enabled
everything else left on auto
ram is corsair dominator 2x1GB 8500 (PSC chips) @ 2.12v (real)
i got some ballistix 8500 D9GMH but the heatspeaders are coming off and wont use till ive got it sorted (think i will have more luck with them?)
what kind of NB voltage you reckon i should use for safe 24/7 use to get it stable?
1.55(real) or more?
will i need to adjust VTT
ive gone up to 450x8 with this q6600 on this board
didnt test for stablity tho only did a quick everest run didnt try any higher as i will be happy whit 400x9
do you think i should just be stick with a trd of 7 instead of 6
system is rock stable at 7 and im so tired trying to get this stable at trd 6
(been at it for a 4 days) :(
apart from synthetic tests like everest am i likely to notice any performance increases in real world use like Megui encoding and gaming
ok, i got my e8500@4.5ghz with 1.4v and nb@1.6, but I cant get it completely stable. If i turn it on or restart is will start and crash and start and crash and boot on the third time. Once its on, it is stable and i cant get it to crash. Any ideas? Thanks.
which way? what do they do? whats a decent oc for an e8500 with a safe (whats safe) voltage? thanks zsamz.
think its worth getting some enzotech vga ram sinks for the CPL chips i already got a 60mm fan blowing on the end of the flame freezer
my pwm temps at load is around 66c
Hi guys ive just installed hte new intel 8.2.0.1001 raid drivers and when i ran hdtune it looked like this.
http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/g...untitled-4.jpg
Does it look normal as it look`s way different to the last time i ran it.
I never bothered running any HD tests with my X48 board as its basically the same board & controller as my P35 but for some sort of comparison I just run the below test for you.
My setup is / DFI LP UT P35, 7.8.... Intel Drivers On ICH9R, 2 X 80GB Hitachi's, RAID 0, 50GB OS Slice, Vista 32 Bit, Write back cache enabled.
The below test was done on mucky drives on my 24/7 rig. I would expect slightly better performance once cleaned up & defragged etc.
CN :)
How well does this board handle 4 sticks of memory? I have the ability to get 4 sticks of DDR2 1000 but that would require me to push the board to 500. Will them memory controller give me the finger with 4 sticks?
if I just want to run my Q6600 at 3.6-3.8ghz and x-fire 4870's should I go for the X48 or X38?
so CF only works on these slots?
http://img60.imageshack.us/img60/1702/cfhn3.png
i've got one of these boards coming 2morrow, alot to read up on here. im waiting for the 4870x2's to come out so i can set up crossfirex but untill then i'll be using my 9800gtx and a 7900gt so i can run my 4 monitors, will i need to use both of the FDD power connectors next to the pci-e slots?
Andrew
Anyone seen anything on the UT X48 T3R using DDR3 memory? Besides Praz over at DFI Club?
So after my two sticks of G.skill PC2 8000 died, I got4GB of D9gmh Crucials (ddr2 800). Right now, I have my settings at 452 x 8 with the memory at 1086 at timings of around 5-5-5-6 with a trfc of 30.
From what I've been hearing though, people have said that running these sticks sub 1000MHZ at cas4 or whatever is faster than the same memory OC'd to around 1100MHZ Cas5. Is this true?
Also, the subtimings seems to be giving me major issues. Some just don't want to stay at the number I set in the bios, especially TRTP. Does anyone have any helpful hints whom have used this ram? These things are like ferrari's waiting to be tuned :P
edit: Zsamz, I see you've owned quite a few D9's, care to share any subtiming advice?
not all d9 are the same so many sets i got that each require different setting
most important is trfc @ 1200+ 5-5-5-15-4-28 always 333/800 divider it requires less voltage the rest you gotta can leave on auto
lower speed lower trfc some of my d9 need 40 trfc i dont run below 1200
and remember a little more juice to nb n reduce your pl level dont be afraid to give nb 1.6v
according to memset i usin now 5-5-5-15-4-28-8-11-10-3-7-4-4
subtimings can be looser withought affecting performance
http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/1530/88408002tt6.jpg
2.2V mem
1.63 NB
1.47 CPU
1.338 VTT
I'm not sure if I should go higher, or search for tighter timings. the higher I go the more NB volts I need :(
any more suggestions?
you have tio base your decision on lowest voltage required
me i decided to run 1200+ cause 333/800 strap @ 500fsb+ only need 2.02v
if i do cas 4 1000+ i need 2.24v
you sure you got "fatbodies" d9gmh didnt know d9hmh was fatbody
fatbodies like tight timings you should be running 4-4-4-8-3-22@1000+
Your tempting me to pop the covers
BL12864aa804.16fd3 is the numbers on ONE side, from what my terrible eyes can read. I'm almost positive these run great, I'm just :banana::banana::banana:ing SOME setting up.
If I did push for 500 FSB on 333/800, what volts am I looking at NB/VTT wise? Won't I then need to tune gtls again?
Edit: BL12864aa804.16fd3 = D9GMH, D9GCT, D9GKX, or D9DQW. Which ones am I hoping to avoid when I pop the covers :D?
double edit: I found on the chips the number 0726-25F. I also found another, KZ7J.
triple: They're either GMH or GKX, both of which are good. No fatbodys though :(
i just bought a set :rofl:yes i'm sick for d9:rofl:
ballistix pc2-8500 16f3d 2.02v 1240mhz old style with clips
500fsb with a quad gonna be some major gtl tuning
you gonna need 1.5+ on nb
Got the following hardware:
Q9450 L812B264
DFI UT X48 T2R with Thermalright HR05SLI/IFX on NB+Zalman low profile 80mm fan
Thermalright Ultra120Extreme lapped+SFF21F(1600rpm)+washer mod
2x2GB Mushkin Redline PC8000(5-5-5-15@2.1V)
Corsair 1000HX
Lian Li PC A16B with Scythe KamaBay with a SFF21F in front, also another SFF21F for the exhaust, lateral exhaust fan also mounted so pretty much all cooling power that this case has to offer is used
I started the overclocking process by choosing a low multiplier(6x) and a high fsb(450) but i get a post code for a faulty cpu(4E).
I tryed then different voltage combinations but with not much of a success and this is why i am asking you for your help.
This is what i've tryed so far:
http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/2468/param1nb4.th.jpg
As a general rule i did not want to exceed the following maximums:
VID 1.4
NB 1.6
VTT 1.4
I did not start to mess with the GTLs because the **** thing is not stable at 3.5-3.6.
Thanks in advance for the willings that want to help me :D .
No. both sets were purchased at the same time, both with identical serials. Unless the only way to tell is looking under each set, then I haven't checked all of them.
well i finally got my 4850's in and finished assembly.. and the x48 does not post at all. no bios nothing. monitor doesnt even come on?? the error code just shows 88 on the display. i tried 3 different cpu's 2 sets of ram in single and double sets, a 8800gtx and the 4870 gpu and nothing.. any ideas????? i am so upset right now .. my second possibly dead dfi x48 (first one worked for about 30 seconds till the fet smoked on it)
yes double checked that also.. ill check again.. all i get is code 88 which i guess means my board is dead. according to clunks code list it looks like either the nb or the bios is bad. man im so pissed right now.. and yes ive cleared the bios more than a few times that doesnt work..im past my newegg return time so this i guess would be rma.. to much time for me.. ill buy something else if this cant be fixed..
Isn't your board still under warranty with DFI? Can't you issue an RMA?
i NEED this system running, if i have to rma again forget it im done.. if after 2 mobo's i have to buy another im done with dfi.. im soo pissed right now
i have checked everything i can and now the board turns on i get the 88 and in about 10 seconds shuts down
well i got it to stop shutting down on me but now im back to the original way it was.. post code 88 and nothing else.. im using a corsair tx750 watt psu with this, unfprtunatly i dont have another to try right now.. not sure if that could be the issue but i REALLY odnt need another psu and hate to buy one if thats not the problem
So basically 3-3-3-8 isnt possible with 2.32V at ddr2 900 for my crucials. I'm going to assume they are GMH then. Should I try a different Timing combo or high MHZ/Tight timings now that I know they aren't GKX?
Thanks a bunch Zsamz :D
well i took a multi meter to the psu cables and im getting 6.3 out of the 5v leads, and 14.70 - 15.3 out of the 12v ones?? wow ... maybe to much voltage?? im stumped i just dont see how 2 boards in a row can be bad..also the cpu is not even getting warm to the touch at all..this is weird
i tested the yellow and black on the 8 pin plug while the board was running as quickly as i can. i get 15.3 as well on the 4 pin plugs and the 24 pin connector as well with the meter set to a 20v dc reading setting... this is with a fluke meter which i 100% know how to use. i also get 6.37 out of the red / black on the rest of the plugs.
so do you think the board is bad now?? as i said all i get is a code 88 and nothing but fans and drives spinning up. the cpu is not getting warm at all. nothing smells like it smoked on this board so im not sure what could have happened if anything.. help>?????????? i just dont want to go buy another very expensive psu if its not the issue.. ill check it with another meter as well here in a minute. but could to much voltage make the board not boot up??
