my chip needs vcore 1.5 with the premium to be stable at 2.85, with the DFI board the same cpu is stable with only 1.39v.
 I only have a set of 165's, and the top is already off of my personal one. The other one stays on, as it's looking for a home atm.Quote:

2665mhz is also the highest speed i can get,if i set it higher it doesnt boot into windows.
I ordered a Opty 170 CCBWE 0609 FPAW, what can I expect?
A lot of Fun.And surely something around 2800Mhz Primestable.

Good luck...you're going to need it:stick:Quote:

Just like the 0551UPMW I got, mine might have been worse, couldnt do more than 2.74ghz @ 1.55v.Quote:

cancel that..... just failed at 5 mins.
EDIT: wont do 2.7 @ 1.54 consider it RMAd. It was 10% re-stocking fee = £21.
Yep, I had the same stepping -2750 and nothing more.Quote:

:slapass: Don't do that man, we're lucky AMD even gives us chips like this for $300.. I remember back in the day when an X2@2.7 was quite an accomplishment. :stick:Quote:

RMA'ing bad overclocking CPUs is retarded. ya'll don't seem to get the point that #1.) RMA'ing is for damaged, unworking CPUs. This means (let me spell this out for you) a. the CPU will not post at stock speed, voltage, in its native platform. b. the CPU was not overclocked, overvolted, tampered with, etc. #2.) people who RMA based on bad overclockers are not only dishonest, it's a hassle for vendors like myself to deal with the overload of perfectly fine products being returned because some tweedle-dum never read the COA. I'd rather spend time fixing grandma's machine than servicing a "poor" overclocking CPU.

PS> If i were that particular retailer, I'd test the CPU when it got in and if it posted, send the freakin' thing right back to you, sans 50% for being a pain in the ass.

Is this a good motherboard for my 165 opty?
I think my epox is holding me back and want to buy a new board with a x1900xtx :cheer:
It's great! New AE0 rev's are awesome
Hmz thx for the AE0 rev's tip,i need to ask for that by my dealer if i go buy 1,i keep that tip in my mind :rocker:Quote:

Ok i can sell the opty and buy a new one,the only problem is that my opty is naked (no ihs) and i think normal people dont wanna buy a cpu without ihs lol :slobber:
People will buy it, sold a naked 165 0550vpmw for $340

RMA'ing is for whatever the company I bought it from decides its for, if that happens to include a 30 day money back guarantee (which it does) and enables me to get a better stepping for little or no cash, i'm going to!
Do you really think people like the owner(s) of AMD & the shop i bought the cpu from got to where they are today by being 'nice' & 100% honest about stuff like this?!
Please... gtfo

There are rules for my submission of broken processors to AMD for repair and if i'm going to sack $400-odd dollars into a customer who routinely "RMA's" parts, I'm going to get really pissed, really fast. (unless i'm too big to give a crap at which point i've lost all real connection with my customers anyway). btw, you wanna know why AMD raised pricing on the X2s? it has something to do with certain large companies doing stuff they shouldn't....oh, but you didn't hear it from me....Quote:

Every chip that you return means that someone has to eat costs. AMD has to eat costs to test your "fake" broken chip, the retailer has to eat the cost of a replacement chip (until such a part is returned from the TSC), etc. etc. in the grand scheme of things, 1 chip here and there may be ok, but you start having smacktards everywhere RMA'ing based on their deluded sense of "stock abilities" are, everyone loses. as far as honesty goes, i'm absolutely offended that you take the attitude you do about that. See, my approach is to be 100% honest in ALL my dealings with EVERYONE. That means if i have to say, "sorry, you don't get a refund for sending me a chip under false premise..." then i'll go to court STAKING MY REPUTATION on that honesty. you're not in my position and i daresay, it's quite evident.Quote:
