I grabbed an open box RIIE from Micro Center for stupid cheap. I'm currently using the latest BIOS 1914 but I'm wondering if there isn't a better one from Bloomfield as it seems like I need more VTT than usual with this board for 4000MHz uncore/DDR3-2000. It doesn't help that it droops quite a bit, 1.50v bios set gives about 1.44v on load DMM measured.
[EDIT] Browsing a few posts back, looks like 1504 would be best for Bloomfield Xeon, and high VTT for DDR3-2000 is normal for this board. [/EDIT]
Hi Rampage users!
I got couple questions, Ive got this mobo for over a year but just since September I wanna overclock bit more :)
What is the best BIOS for R2E? Im using now 1801 (the newest one) for i7 920 D0
What QPI Voltage is required for 4.2GHz (now i put about 1.3v)
What about NB and SB voltages what are recommended voltages for 4.2GHz.
Perhaps I should increase PLL voltage?
Thanks for reply
ĦAy, caramba! this thing needs VTT set high for 2000MHz DDR3! It was more like 1.50v real but still, I only needed 1.40v real on the EVGA Classy with the same chip. Oh well.

@ Shiranui Gen-An, why is your cpu voltage at 2.570 and the other shows 1.323 volts?
CPU-Z bug apparently. I obviously wasn't running 2.57v :p:
Required 1.31 Vtt for me at DDR3-2000MHz CL8 HCI Memtest stable. I don't run this 24/7 though, was just testing seeing what things needed. Vtt requirements do seem higher on the REX2 from other peoples reports but I've never used my CPU on another board so I can't comment personally.
@ CryptiK how are you getting such high copy speeds on everest? I ran mine at 4.5ghz and yours is way above mine but less in other areas.

Hey guys,
I'm having an issue with my R2E, and I remember seeing something about it somewhere quite some time ago. I am finishing a system rebuild, and when I went to power up, no boot. After several hours of troubleshooting, I've discovered the white slots are no longer working. I only had 3 sticks of ram, and didn't think to try some in white, some in blue slots, so not sure if that works. I boot fine with all 3 blue used, but no combo of white slots only worked. All settings are stock, with 19xx bios (can't remember exact #). CPUZ still says triple channel ram when in windows with all blue slots occupied. Is it a board issue, or cpu issue? Its the only 1366 board I have, so can't try cpu in another board.
Just to let you guys know turns out the board had died. Asus couldn't even get it going so they sent me a new one.
Strange how just moving a board can cause it to fail, although I think it was flaky from day one as I had to isolate the metal standoffs with electrical tape because according to Asus it was shorting? No tape needed on the replacement board.
Ok, I feel pretty stupid. I tried it with 4 sticks, 3 blue and 1 white, and it worked fine. I found the manual, and sure enough, it states "Due to Intel CPU spec definition, the system will not boot if only one DIMM is installed in DIMM slot A2, B2, or C2." I vaguely remember reading this before, but forgot. Thanks for help, though.
No problem, sometimes its the small things that trip us up.
Hey guys, ask how do I set the RAM, so I went to 2000MHz or more
I have Goodram 3x2 2000mhz 8-8-8-28
My OC is core i7 920 to 4.3ghz (205x21) ht on
been lil out of the ocing game for the past year, got the spark to start torturing gear again.. heres my poor 980x under watercooling, yeah i know the voltage is abit ehmmm crazy :D the super pi run is just for testing i know the score is not all that great.
this chip stops pretty much scaling well after 1.63v at least on these temps, it seems to needs some colder temps and cant wait to bolt on my cascade and try how this little devils likes -100c

Well i hit 227 bclk on mine tonight. Not too bad for a air run though. Not sure why my cpu voltage isn't showing, perhaps a bug i guess.
Hi there.
i need a little help with achieveing 4.4 ht on,i have achieved 4.3 fully stable with linx, occt, ibt and prime 95.
I notice some people on here have 4.4 with a similar setup to me,all my motherboard is watercooled.
Any help will be really appreciated
Here are my settings.....thanks.
