Just upgraded from 1004 to 1215, and now my FSB appears to be stuck at 266mhz according to CPU-Z and the bios states the processor is running at 16.92ghz. I'm using the same settings as before (and yes, I've cleared the BIOS, both in the bios menu and with the jumper). Weird stuff.
Edit: It's on the Asus P5B-Deluxe WiFi page, so I don't know if it's still BETA.

Got this problem sorted out. I ordered Crucial memory off thr QVL. 2 x 2 Gig Kits.. worked first time. In fact its runnin 4-4-4-12 @ 2.15V DDR2 900 (with Fans) so much for this Board. She's a bit fussy with Ram!Quote:

I had that same message when I tried to update with a flash drive. I reverted back to a floppy and the 'Afudos' utility which has worked flawlessly. You need to make it bootable with 'drdflash' program which can be found at www.bootdisk.com.Quote:

I've had this board since January and have had such a nightmare with vdroop, FSB issues and issues with my pci-E video cards running at 1x... I personally don't think it's too much to ask for a product without so many glitches... ANYHOW back to my issue, I currently can't boot... Currently I have OCZ platinum 8000... anyone know if this RAM has a life time warranty or good customer service so maybe I could ask them to switch out my RAM? Or is there a brand of RAM I should get instead of this? Please help, as I need my pc for my job. :( Thanks in advanced guys. :confused:
have you drained the mobo? (remove cmos battery, disconnect power, reconnect)
otherwise, do a RMA.
Isn't it too late for an RMA of any of these products? I've had them since January...
Can anyone else shed some light on this? Am I doing the RAM trick wrong?
it sounds like you are
1. ocing too high
2. your ram requires higher voltage
3. something flakey is going on.
can you just try to run everything stock for 1 month to see if it is still solid? when you oc, things are expected to go wrong. You signed yourself up for troubleshooting when you oc. enjoy the game, don't hate asus.

Well I know my RAM requires at least 2.10 volts according to the website... I'm currently giving it 2.25 because. And the board boots every time with the generic RAM in it, but that RAM is rated at 1.8 volts...
1) Now I thought I read somewhere that this ASUS board has a RAM voltage issue that sometimes it doesn't switch over the voltage? Like it runs default at 1.8 and sometimes when you switch to a different voltage for memory it doesn't change over and still gives it 1.8? And that's why a lot of people have issue with higher end RAM because they require more volts to operate and the board even when set at a higher voltage sometimes still only gives 1.8? Is that true?
2) Does this sound like I should RMA the board? Or the RAM?
3) Maybe I should boot with the generic RAM and update to the latest BIOS and then see if I can boot with the OCZ? :confused:
Just flashed to 1212 bios on my p5b. Flashed in bios with ezflash.
Went in without a hitch.:clap:
Now bring on them new cores.:cheer2:

THANKS for the info Chuck... so you guys definitely think I should RMA this board? It's not a factor with the RAM and voltage having issues?
Also what's the major difference between this board and the wifi model? Is it just the wifi chip or has it been proven that one performs more stable than another?
By the way,none of you guys have ever needed to do the switch out RAM trick to get your computer to boot with high end RAM (ram rated 2.10 or higher)? Where you'll have to cut the power... boot with the generic RAM, change your settings and voltages, then reboot and then boot with the high end RAM? Is this something that's not suppose to be normal with this board? Thanks for all the help guys.
with teh "crash free 3" feature ... does the system actually POST anything when you turn on the PC after a failed BIOS updated ?
my P5B deluxe failed bios update and the screen is just blank ... I left the support cd inside, also tried puttinb bios on a USB stick ... nothing happens ...
Get an RAM for a crash free3 bios failure. When you reboot, it should start beeping and looking all your drives for a specially named bios file. It is in the support CD. It only works sometimes. I returned a board for that. I will never use the windows bios update again.Quote:

I still get the annoying bootup problem with the MB starting, powering down, waiting 1 or 2 seconds to finally start up again.

Well where do I go from here then? I've had them both since January and I don't think NewEgg will give me a refund now will they? And Neither Asus or OCZ will give me a refund I don't think... just exchanges... so am I just SOL? What do you guys suggest?Quote:
