Nice Repo!
I primed my vpmw all night at 2800 with 1.35 +104% (read 1.34 ~ 1.36 in windoze) with no hitches (17 hrs).. going to see how far this vcore will take me... then up it by 0.025 (1.375 + 104%) and see how far that goes.. I know, I am going slow and boring.. *sigh* I am sure my patients will wear thin soon and I will see what vcore 3ghz takes..

Yeh, I hope I get a CCB1E more than a CCBBE, either one is good though.
Yeah - I think having the AS5 set on an open core helps a lot.. faster heat xfer makes a big diff for stablility.. especially on this hot vpmw. anyways.. I am pulling out my 7800GTXs for a pair of 7900GTs (which I have yet to buy, but will soon, XFX or eVGA, which ever one seems to do the 1800mhz memory oc the best) and am /not/ going to water cool them.. these new 90nm gpus seem to do fine on air.. then my water loop will then be dedicated to the cpu.. I think it's the best thing to do with this little red hot chili processor. ;) plus it's just time for a big reconfig.Quote:

Sadly my 170 isn't the best, I've so far seen about 3-4 170s that are better than mine... just no one has the guts to take the IHS off and put them on watercooling! People have a fetish for running 2.8 Ghz with 1.1 volts rather than pushing to 3.2 with manly voltage. Might as well get an 0551UPMW if you want to run 2.8 Ghz :p:, waste of a VPMW. IIRC you were temp limited on that 0550 of yours correct? Well the CCBBE runs much cooler than the CCB1E. (to compgeek)

CCB1E=42-44C@1.45
Same setup and cooling. Seems to be getting a bit better though, average of 42C@1.45
edit: absolute I know what you mean, you most likely will have another chip in a year or two when the damn thing dies, so why not use 1.55-1.6? Anyway we'll see if mine keeps scaling once I get my new board tomorrow. 338HTT is no good for this thing at all :(
If CCBBE is cooler than CCB1E, it's evidence that it isn't coldbugged. Interesting.

I think it kept going the second time because temps have gone way down. 44C->40-41C for some weird reason :confused:
3 Ghz with 1.42v on air is what all the 0608MPMWs are doing. It is the most consistent stepping i have seen. Mine did 3 Ghz with 1.40v, but that's only because i'm on watercooling, on air i'm sure it would have performed just like the others. You guys need to push that stepping, i shouldn't be the only one with a prime screenshot at 3.1!
Repoman i think the CCB1Es burn in a lot, also very temperature sensitive. Get temps down as much as you can and you will be rewarded.

3GHz@1.45v failed first after 9mins but has been going strong for almost an hour now second run. I will see if that is because of burn-in or AS5 set when I remount on new boardQuote:

Rufus is right. It's the wafercharge that counts. That's why you see some CPUs with the same stepping perform worse than those with the same stepping that were doing better. That's because they have a different wafercharge. I don't know why people keeping talking about batch #'s, there isn't any evidence that it's important.Quote:
