sad sh1t, and unbearable tension..
I'm still holding out hope that BD isnt a failure when we see for sure on the 12th :(
But it seems like OBR was right all along :(
i doubt this, it would suck hard for server department
i think prefetcher/cache bug
There's more to life then out of the box results... you might be surprised... or not...
oc'ed results :)
i'd be fine with that if power consumption wont go through the roof :)
I've made a decision to not post until the official reviews are in :). There is no point anymore,we all said what we think, bickering about whether it's worthy upgrade from K10 or can it beat K10/SB/whatever is pointless IMO.
So see you in 3 days, stay cool :D. And remember ,it's only a cpu :).
mhm maybe also bd is just fine with ram > 2000mhz :D
@informal
Haha this is like telling NFL fans it's "only football".
How do we know you aren't still checking the forum on a smartphone haha.
he ofc is :) he said he just wont "post"
So are we coming to the age when even CPUs will need their monthly driver updates? :D
Isn't JF in marketing? Could have been fed bad info from the engineers, or as mentioned, some issues cropped up and it was too late to delay yet again. I don't know. Also, JF does have in his sig that while he works for AMD, his postings are his own opinions.
Or, he could have been lying through his teeth. But I much rather give people the benefit of the doubt than jumping to the worst scenario first.
I'm waiting until the 12th to make any definitive decision, but it is looking like I'll be rocking out my 955BE C2 for a little while longer, trying to push the clocks a little higher (at 3.6GHz right now), hoping that PD will fix BD's fail.
I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to CPU design/arch.
But it seems to me they may have just tried to incorporate too many things in one step...
New uArch, Gate first, HKMG on a relatively new process seems like alot to take on at once.
I'd sincerely hope this design was tested throughly before it was even taped out, the problem could lie anywhere.
Hopefully, if the performance isn't upto expectations on release it'll be a situation similar to the PHI/PHII and we'll see a
much improved version within the next year.... Not good, but AMD is small compared to Intel.
Reguardless, I'll buy one on release day if for no other reason than to play with OC'ing a new chip..... :D
And be greatful, that at least, all this crazy specultion has stopped!
i couldnt agree more, too many risky factors in how they did BD,and like you i believe thing will get better
with this uarch, there is a lot they can do with tweaking this to something special in the future:D
i will buy one and i'm sure they will sell many of the FX chips, especially at price at less than $250

Considering the Asetek water cooler has a market value of $75, that would mean that the CPU (FX-8150) alone should be sold for $175, right?
The pricing still doesn't make any sense, the 8150 should be cheaper than the 2500k! LOL.
Yeah, no :banana::banana::banana:. Lab501 didn't break any NDA' neither with NVIDIA, AMD(Gpu part).
On cpu's , with Intel let's say small tease is always free to do because they have no real competition.
For example anandtch had a preview of SB 3 months befoure launch, so small teasing results are not count to break NDA.
With, AMD what if you put a Super Pi on Phenom II at 6ghz on LN, does count a real info about performance? No.
With BD i don't know what is going on but if the performance is crap, i don't care if they broke or no the NDA.
This doesn't matter anymore. It matters that AMD lied
