OK now works fine at 290+ FSB!, Thanks ben805 ;)
EDIT ;)
bye
nope...no problem whatsoever, though Creative said if the older(earlier) card have problem then you can either update the mobo bios or ship the card back to them and they'll replace the rom or whatever for free :DQuote:

HTT is equivalent to FSB isnt it? also do i have to lock my agp? also what setting is the multiplier and what should i have it set at? Thanks for all the help for an X-intel user. if it helps my board came with bios 703.
I just installed 2x 7800GT (reference) on one. Had a quick blast of CoD2 with 8xS AA and 16X AF in 1280x1024 (ViewSonic 19" LCD). Very, very nice.Quote:

So without the FID/Vid Change I am unable to change the LDT multiplier and LDT voltage. So now I believe my processor is locked at 11x multiplier. So my default cpu speed is HTT(FSB)200X11 multiplier=2200. So how do I know I am in the LDT(HTT) is the transport bus between the cpu interface and the northbridge chip. Since I have to keep this number and (HTT*HTTmulti(locked at 11x)=1000 or less. Do I just go with HTT*11X=cpu speed. How and what specific settings do I need to configure to allow me to overclock this processor. This is my first AMD and I am at a loss. I have read many threads to try to clarify this myself. Thanks.
set everything to manual. it will allow u to change whatever you want.
unfortunately I am unable to set fid/vid change to manual. It is locked on [auto]. asus support says that for some processors you do not get option to set manual and instead of it being blue in color it will be grey. Currenty mine is grey. What setting is the HTT multiplier. I have bios 703 and according to ben805, he posted some thing about "set both K8 to NB Frequency and SB to NB Frequency to 3x (BIOS 804/805) or 600 (BIOS 703). Make sure CNQ is disable, do not touch the SB to NB Frequency and DDR Clock Skew". Is he refering to the Advanced Chipset Settings:
Default settings
K8 to NB Frequency [AUTO]
K8 to NB LinkWidth [AUTO]
SB to NB Frequency [1000]
SB to NB LinkWidth [16down, 16up]
Are these the suggested settings?
K8 to NB Frequency [600]
K8 to NB LinkWidth [AUTO]
SB to NB Frequency [600]
SB to NB LinkWidth [16down, 16up]
Are one of these the HTT multiplier. To bad nTune doesnt work with this board.
So you have to use a 3x HTT multiplier? Even at around 260Mhz? That sucks...
Shootingblanks
Is Cool n Quiet -Disabled ?
HTT is in Advance -Jumperfree configuration- set AL overclocking to manual and the HTT will appear
My heatsink findings with the A8N32 using the Corsair XMS RAM
TT Big Typhoon - Won't fit.
Thermaltake XP-120 - Won't fit.
Coolermaster Hyper 6+ - Won't fit with fan installed.
In each of these cases it was due to the RAM being to tall.
Grrr. Gonna try a Zalman CNPS9500 and if that doesn't work then I'm gonna get a Coolermaster Aquagate Mini R120 Watercooler.

You would think that any of these nimrod designers would for once sit down and design a board and then place the damn components in it to see what kind of clearances they have.Quote:

Obviously they know we intend to ram these things full tilt else they would not provide the tools to overclock. It simply amazes me that they design and sell $200+ boards without once giving any thought to what will happen when the you or I buy their product and try some of the stunts we do. Get me on one of their R&D teams and I will throttle them over the head when they come back with some of the board layouts I see around.
I'm really struggling with this board too.. My MSI neo plat sli would run cpu x2 3800 @ 2500 and ram in sinc with CPU at 250 cas 3 2t (or 1t but not completely stable)
Thinking about running mem 166 divider at ~215 Cas 2 1t
New A8n32-SLI will not run my ram well at 250 so I'm not sure if I need to keep tweaking to make it run or be happy with cas 2 with the 166 divider. Will not pass one instance of 3dmark 05. :slapass:
The settings for this board are very confusing. Tweaking is scattered on lots of different pages. Bunch of new terms and settings that I have no idea what they do. I know this board should do better than my older MSI SLI board but so far it sucks. Does bios updates help any? Don't own a floppy and bios update wouldn't work from CD (some crap about the disk being write protected... what DOS can't write to cdrs? hehe)
I know there has to be more untapped potential in this board!!
HELP...
Had this mobo a week and my biggest problem so far has been getting my TCCD mem to run at speeds over 200MHz
It does seem that the mobo doesnt like TCCD memory (ATM)- after saying that I was able to get the mem upto 220MHz in syn with the HTT but only at x10Cpu.Vcore 1.5 At x11 just got a BSOD on entering windows
Been able to get my 175 up to 2700MHz with the mem 133 in bios (well out off syn) and its pretty stable 1.5Vcore (but gets a little hot on air) which has boosted my 3Dmark03 from 26384 to 27179. which would be much better if I could get this TCCD memory to run higher
Had lots off BSOD but only had to take out the Vid card twice to reset Cmos which isnt bad considering I am having lots of problems with the mem
Think I will need H2O to keep the CPU cool long term if I plan to keep it at 2700MHz esp in summer
Is it just that Ballistix is more forgiving or what? The 2x 1G modules I have run 282 HTT at 3-3-3-8 1T, which is pretty much average according to the stats. This is on the 703 BIOS it came with.
I suspect the board also exposes the full characteristics of an individual core's mem controller, for better or worse. I've yet to try my Opty 144, but I already know it will be very different from the Venice.
yes that's the recommended settings, if the VID is gray and can't be set to Auto, you might want to try different BIOS and see if it make any difference.Quote:

UPDATE
Upgrading the bios to the 805 beta seemed to breath new life into this board. My mem and cpu are reaching new levels! Seems much more stable. Played battlefield 2 for 3 hours in sli on a home theater projector. OH MY GOD. You haven't experienced nirvana till you play games on a 10ft wide screen. (Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW :kissbutt: )
Running 3800 x2 at 2600. MEM @ CAS 2.5 1t at 236mhz with 183 multi. Seems that may be better than cas 3 2t at 250... right? Would run the cpu at 2750 and mem @250 cas 2.5 1t but not prime stable. Will be when my mach II gets here!
Settings are still giving me fits though. I enabled the overvolting of core option (thinking that would enable the core adjustments) then set the core at 1.375v. Oh crap that set the core at 1.5+!!!! Had to figure out that it overvolts .200mv over what you set it to. It got up to 150F before I figured it out.
I have the SB/K8/NB all set to auto. Anandtech said in their review "In general, the HyperTransport performs well when left on Auto, letting the board handle the HTT adjustments. " So it seems the board is changing the HTT multi on the fly?
What about the K8 to NB LinkWidth [AUTO] SB to NB Frequency [1000] What exactly are these? What relationship does the SB have to the NB? I know K8 to NB is HTT.
Setting them to 600 seems pretty low.
Also, something to keep in mind the arctic coolers have intakes near the end of the cards and they exhaust the hot air out the back of your case. This works well in my case in SLI even with a X-FI and they are not too expensive. Haven't started overclocking the 7800's yet but i'll fill you guys in on temps soon.
I have got my G.Skill FF 2x512MB sticks to 3001:1. I left everything pretty much on auto, but set 2.5,4,4,4,7 and 2T.
1T is not stable at all as far as i can tell.
The board read the SPD timings of the ram all wrong though. Set it to 3,5,5 or some such!
It just needs a better BIOS for TCCD modules.
Yes.Quote:

Man this slot spacing sucks. Does anyone think I'd be able to safely put a TV Tuner card in on of these PCI slots? (The one that has no clearance issues will be used for my sound card.)
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...computer/4.jpg
Everybodys making such a big deal about the spacing. Some other boards are going this route too. Check out the new MSI sli board. Same thing.
For me it really isn't that big of a deal. MOBOs come with tons of stuff built in. Just about the only thing you would need would be a tuner card or a sound card.
There are some super easy mods out there that cost from free to only a few bucks that would calm your fears.
I have a fan that came with my case that I could mount there. My question is would it be enough? I mean... Look how little space there is! I know air can fit through a pin hole but...Quote:
