J/K'ing. But we have been heavily involved here with D2OL and this awesome XS team and teammates. We are thundering up the charts, and ya know what...
WE COULD USE SOME HELP!! :) We are chasing down giants ( yeah, same old story :) )!
What brings you to this neck of the woods, Sigma?
Welcome to XSD2OL headquarters! Any questions?
and why will your wife not like you being here, we be nice peeps!
Scott
Thanks for the welcome Rodzilla. Good to be here! :D
Scott,
How's it going bro?!
Found you kind of by accident, in a way. I heard you (and Plum) were hitting D2OL, somewhere over at XPC. I happend to be reading the Free-DC forum and read that some juggernaut,"XS", was whoopin their arses, and was gonna run em down in about a month. Figured you two had to be a part of that team. ;) So I came by to see with my own eyes. :D
Was thinking it might be time for a dual xeon build to add to my 3.06 xeon and AMD's. Need to diversify the herd (and maybe projects) a bit. I might give the 1.6's a shot if theyre still available. Whats the budget for this project? Never built an intel system.
Wife wouldnt be upset about me being here, but rather another expensive noisy box in my office. She recently learned of the full number of them and threatend me with something "expensive". When a woman says its expensive, it IS expensive and needs to be taken seriously. :D
Anyhow, sorry for leading this thread astray. Good to see you again. I'll be in touch.
BR,
Sigma
I need some info.
Did somebody try'd the OCZ Booster on the PC-DL to give more volts to vdimm,am gone try it i think, althoug my booster is a bit funny at the moment(needs calibrating),am also waiting for Hipro's Maximizer, but that will be an other month or 2 to arrive,i think.
O yes i will have to put my A64 rig down for some time,my DFI's agp slot is fubar :( so it has to go in rma,i hope it does'nt take to long.
So i only will be crunchen with my xpm rig,and my DX rig am bizzy putting it together right now ;)
Can somebody help me please,i dont want to make a mistake.
About the VDDR mod you suggest to use a 10K vr,and then you can go up to 2.65vdimm,right?
But on the PC-DL User Forum the say that you can use a 50K vr,there the go up to 3.45vdimm(2.65v + .8v=3.5v)
see here, and thats what my BH5 likes alot.
Now i only have here at home a 20K vr and a 50K vr,now wish one do i use best, becaus i want to go up to 3.45vdimm so i best use the 50K vr,right.
Did somebody try'd that VDDR mod that go's to 3.45v.
Does PC-DL have the same regulator as the ncch-dl ?Quote:

Use grabbers, pin 3 to 6. I'm using 5k resistor.
Sure, u can use 50k vr aswell, but go with the 20k vr if no less.
Hello everyone, i've been reading on LVs and stuff around the many forums around, and decided on getting a pair myself.
However, one of the CPUs seems to have died, and i'm not sure where to get a new one.
IF anyone is willing to sell, or knows where to get a single 2.0ghz LV SL6XL xeon, plz help PM me!
(hope the mods dun mind me posting here - duno where else to post)
u can try ebay, or post in our wanted section(need 100 posts).
There's a guy on eBay selling a ton of 2.0 LVs. I am sure if you ask him, he will sell you one instead of a pair. Do of search using 'Intel Xeon 2.0' or 'Intel Xeon 2.0 GHz'.Quote:

Hey Jeff,
Thanks for this great guide! I've done the vCore Mod, but the VRM's heat seems to be flying out of control... what can i do? I'm gonna have to tone down the FSB to try and manage the heat... I got to 48c before turning off.. and it didn't take long to get to that temp. (like about 10mins or less)
Thanks,
EoT
48c isn't bad...whats load? As long as it stays below something like 65 it should be safe. How are you cooling the VRMs?
jjcom
It might be wise to have a fan blowing directly on/over the VRM ( and RAM, if you've done the VDimm mod ).Quote:

I'm checking the BIOS temps, and the ASUS PC Probe utility... now how come the Utility reports lower temps than the BIOS??? aren't they reading the same temp probes?
I think acceptible TEMP ranges should be added to this guide so that you can know if the Mods performed won't have an effect on your system you're not expecting.. particularly temperatures... I really don't know what's high but normal, to high.. and shut it down quick temps...
Thanks,
EoT
It probably can run D2OL.Quote:

I ran Prime95 for well about 30mins last night.. VRM temp never went above 55c... at least now that I added the 120mm fan on it.. with the case cover on... (but there was the cold air seeping from the window that i believe helped keep the temp at 55.)
So as I said, think it would be nice if some sort of temperature chart would be put together... to know the danger zones.
