as raptor said but it has higher heat dump at full setting. when u turn it down to #4 setting it is about the same heat dump as the D4 and performs alot like the AQX50Z.
So I guess the choices are, more heat but better performance or less heat but the same performance as D4 ?

waste of money. 11.5 feet of head 900gph... if u changed the impeller so it had around 400gph and 17ft of head it would be great. but as it stands its too expensive for what it is.
yeah im like really stuck on pumps right now ..i love the Iwaki's but they are to big..i want a semi small powerfull A/C pump i was looking at the Hydor L35 and some of the Eheim's
To be honest ive heard alot of bad things about the Hydors build quality from some reputable sources. The only reason i havnt updated the guide is that im a bit too lazy.
but in all honesty the hydors and eheims are NOT suited for watercooling unless you are using like a maze4 and a single pass heatercore. otherwise their veyr low head presssure overtakes them and they get bad flowrates.
I agree about Hydors bad build quality but I think Eheims are well suited for watercooling. They may not have a very high max head, or a very low heat dump, but their performance is decent compared to DC pumps and their quality is very good; the difference compared to an Eheim 1250 and a DC pump would be less than 1C in a typical loop.
2 Eheim 1048's in series are even better performers while keeping noise levels at a minimum.
2 eheim 1048 in series is a little silly and u know it.. that would be a total waste of space and logical thinking. a single 50Z will outperform them by a little and have less heat dump and 1/4 the size... so really a setup in series like that is not logical.
ill admit that the difference in performance for the 1250 and typical DC pump isnt huge but it is in the range of flowrates where extra flow really makes a noticeable difference. if they were both in the 3 gpm range i would say pick whichever but they are in the 1-1.5gpm range where extra flow is ALOT more useful than at 3gpm.
well i have a Double Heatercore a NV-6800 block and a swiftech 6002-64 so i figure im going to need a decent pump .. i was thinking about just going DC and getting a MCP655
the MCP655 would be a good choice. from cathars preliminary results it performs well but has high heat dump. sadly i dont know where it puts this in teh overall scheme of things as far as total performance.
eheim is of good quality but nothing beats an iwaki... they are without a doubt the undisputed king of pumps...
Iwaki is a japanese company that makes high end Acqarium pumps. check out the first post of this thread to see what im talking about
Its really just your case. you wont be getting ur max overclock on a X2 with dual 6800ultras on a 1048... it just wont cut it..
the only thing that will alllow you to get your maxium overclock with a 1048 are cpus that dont need much cooling to get to their max such as the winchesters. for instance my winchesters got their max overclock on stock air cooling. putting them on water didnt change anything.Quote:

EDIT: didtn see the newcastle comment.. now i must say that is odd... usually newcastles will benefit from added cooling especially coming down from 60C..
