@ Anvil:
When can we expect the next release of your Storage Utilities and why did you pull back the RC3 version?

Use windows for the striping, and just use the controller as an HBA. Like the other guy said. Looks like you do not use the IBM as an OS drive, so you do not need to raid it with the controller for booting.

Is this good for a couple of these on a M5G with 1204 bios and latest RST?
http://www.mushkin.com/Digital-Stora...SDCR120GB.aspx
I don't know if I have latest "OPROM" or how I can check, can this be changed/updated independently from bios?
I didn't have any luck, setting the 8x Intel 520's JBOD and then striping them in windows - like really really bad performance
I must be doing something wrong? back to the drawing board
Henrik
This beta doesnt work anymore....
I have enable write caching checked off already... care to elaborate? what about the second setting for turn off windows write-cache buffer flushing on the device ?
Look >here<.
that needs to be checked off too then you can enable write caching in irst control panel. look for example here are 2 sandforce drives with write caching enabled

notice the 4k performance? yours will be similar when write caching is enabled
Thanks for the info, appreciate it
now where can I get anvil program again? the june 4th beta version has expired lol.
ASU RC3 (19-06-2012) worked for me...
I need help!! :-) but more specific with trying to get this M1015's to run faster with my Intel 520 120GB's (8x) of them
Running windows 7 x64
what Firmware should I be running on the controllers (2.130.354-1664) and do i need to update the firmware on the Intel i think its 400i
and what drivers for windows are the best drivers - currently its MEGASAS2, and i noticed that Nizzan is running with LSISAS2
running the SSD's as JBOD and then stripping in windows gave me something like (seq 4mb 15.xx M/s) a long way from Nizzan's 3.5GB/s granted I am using different disks but still the Intel should be that far behind
Would have anything to do with that I am using a EVGA SR-2 board?
thanks guys, I can really use your help, and please be gentle and use nice big pictures to explain ;-)
Henrik
tivid, are you running the M1015 crossflashed to a LSI9211 ? \
If not do so.
Seeing as the 8x 520's are not boot drives, crossflash to IT mode
The M1015 just becomes a HBA, now let Windows stripe the drives.
There are no settings to change in IT mode, it just passes the drives to the OS.
By looking at you scores you are possibly not rebooting with any changes you make, reboot every time you do anything
Also do a secure erase every now and then, as this can make a big difference
I've done a step by step crossflash process over here and all the files needed are there too.
Basically don't run the M1015 as a LSI9240 it's rubbish, LSI9211 mode in either IT or IR (simple RAID) modes are much better options.
Use ATTO to diagnose issues, once you get the burst speeds sorted then Anvil scores shouild come right too.
You will never get close to Niven's Anvil score as the LSI9207 is PCIe Gen3 card and uses a faster SAS2308 controller.
But you should do OK
thanks mobilenvidia,
I tried this before but i didn't have any luck, but i will give it a go again over the next few days, thanks very much for making this available

@Bill...the screenshots for the Neutron R0 and Neutron GTX R0 are identical...
Hi guys,
What is the max throughput one can expect on PCIe 2 and 3?
Trying to work out how many drives I need to just sit below it?
Thanks
Henrik
I was going to answer, but I realized that it is quite off topic for a thread about ASU. I suggest you start another thread.
I'm sorry for the delay. (been travelling more or less constantly for the last month)
Will post an update later tonight. (RC5)
looking forward to that :yepp:
