Does the 0052 support Gulftown ?

Well it may be depend on the CPU I've got a 920 D0, I'll try with it and see what happends. Have you got yours to 4,6 GHz +? Whats your max BCLK? mine seems to be 223 with out fideling with the PCIe freq.
ha, thats what I'm doing right now - trying to define the max mhz I can squeeze out of it. (wonna join the 4.5ghz club too much:D) So far the maximum I could boot at is 214x21... And thats 4494mhz - not really 4500 so I only need 6mhz more. But, unfortunately, it won't load at 215 or anything above no matter what.
I will try to drop the multi and see what's the max bclk I can get.
Edit: bah, 215 is my bclk wall I guess. Even with the dropped multi it wont go above that number. Probably I need to make some additional changes in the bios not just the bclk/cpu multi/voltage combination, but I guess I'll try that some other time (aka never:D). 4.2ghz is plenty for anything you know:cool:
deems 215 is the BCLK wall for this board, too bad...any solution from asus with rectify the bios maybe can solve this problem?
Alright, my system is almost ready.
I installed a 920 D0, Corsair 12GB kit and a Sapphire 5870 Vapor-X. Oh, I'm also buying a custom P6T7 water-block from Duniek soon :)
I also installed a Corsair H50 cpu cooler but I haven't installed a hard drive (SSD) or OS yet, so I don't know how good it is.
I'm not sure if I'll keep the H50 and use a small Black Ice Micro 2 radiator to cool the P6T7 water block or go with a large Rad/CPU block/Laing DDC combo. I'd like to keep the H50 because I like the compact kit and I've already spent a lot of money on this build, but I also want to join the 4.5GHz club and I'm not sure the H50 will get me there.
What do you guys think?
Anyway, KingOfsorrow and Mydog, can you two please share your P6T7 settings that pushed your 920 D0 above 4.2Ghz?
Thanks in advance.
200x21@1.3375v/ 8-8-8-24 1T memory@1.64v/c1e&speedstep disabled. Just change the numbers "200" and the cpu voltage as you increase frequency when going above 4.2ghz. I leave the rest settings on auto. But, probably, if you want to go higher than 4.4ghz you may need to change them too. ;)
Thanks, KingOfsorroW.
Is the "200" setting the BCLK?
Also, is TT on the 0052 bios set to "on" or "off" by default?
Thanks.
Yes, 200 - thats BCLK frequency. The TT is turned off in the 0052v bios by default.
Btw, I think it's worth upping the voltages for the ICH PCIE, IOH PCIE, and the ICH and the IOH right from the beginning - it will only do good to overall system stability. Probably not all of them are really required to be augmented but you can't go wrong by increasing all of them in one time. )
As follows:
ICH PCIE - 1.6v
IOH PCIE - 1.6v
ICH - 1.2v
IOH - 1.14v
I can't justify those figures though. It's just a shot in the air, or something like that :D
Dawgneck, you gotta show us the custom waterblock because it might be a first! I never saw anything for the p6t7, will it cool the mosfet too?
Outstanding, KingOfsorroW!
As soon as I locate a SSD I'll give these settings a try!
Thanks for your help.
Agreed! Duniek is the first to create a waterblock for this board.
I don't have it yet but I believe it will cool the Mosfets. It should ship in a week or so. This is what Duniek has provided so far in his thread: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=241623
From what I can tell from the pictures, it is a work of art!
I think we need to change Duniek's alias to "Lord Duniek".
The Asus 504 has this in the description:
" P6T7 WS SuperComputer 0504 BIOS Add "CPU Turbo Power Limit" item"
I do NOT see any option in the BIOS to turn this useless feature OFF and turbo goes away under load! This is really frustrating to say the least. Can anyone confirm a WORKING turbo disable BIOS?
Wanted to check and see if anyone has tried to validate if the W3550 will work on the board with the 0052v bios or if we will have to sweet talk ASUS.
Please ASUS....
thanks
Mydog, do you know if your W3520 worked with the default bios the board ships with?
I say the W3550 was added later so wasn't sure if it would work if I tried to boot it with the default bios.
Thanks
Well, I installed a regular HDD and Windows 7 last night. Nice!
But, that Corsair H50 CPU cooler is going back!
Corsair states we have to run cool air from outside the case, through the radiator and into the case to get the best temps. The mobo, video card, memory chips and radiator have raised my interior temps to a point it feels hotter than my 300 watt Krell stereo amplifier!
I think I'll return or sell the Sapphire Vapor-X card and just water-cool the complete system.
0052 is working well! I haven't tweaked my voltage settings yet, but I am at 4.18 just by raising bclk a few points.
LOL just turn the fan around. Your case temperatures will thank you. ;)
If your case is properly ventilated its internal temperature should be (at most) 1-2 degrees warmer than the room. If you have aggressive ventilation there should be no difference. This will translate into the same results (CPU temperature) without interfering with airflow in your case and pumping in heat that you don't want. ;)
Stable @3.8 1.136v
Stable @4.0 1.208v
Only change at bclk ram and vcore
