I really don't know much about benching but I still like to play and learn. I played around with lod some and I think that last run was when I settled on 11 or 12. My e8400 will no way go over 4.5ghz here on air so I think I need to settle for what I got although I'll probably try one last hoorah this weekend. :D
-
okay..... this is the last day to bench right? all i know is next round im looking into the memory more then anything.. :yepp:
-
Yup, today is the last day unless you guys want another extension :D Going to sift through this thread and compile all the scores as I've been a lazy/busy host.

Congrats guys! Unless we plan on continuing this Challenge, these are our final results. Judging by the results it looks like we've all been quite busy. Feel free to keep submitting scores and I can continue updating the results but for the extended duration of the competition these are the final results.
-
Wish I thought I could get a little more but I'm not so sure. This was fun, thanks.
-
my '01 score was in normal category (edit-CPU subzero though whoops hehe)
the '03 was subzero :)
-
I'll try to play around with my card tomorrow for schnitzel and giggles. Feel bad buying the card and not even modding it yet. Stupid busy life :(
-
When's the next challenge then? ;)
It took me literally 40 minutes to find damn mythical thread!
I kept searching for 8400GS instead of 7200GS. Looked in the WCG Forums, Xtreme Overclocking forums, browsed my post history.. Ugh
-
If someone wants to organize a Spring challenge I'm sure some people would participate. I currently am still swamped with school and work
-
How about we join the red camp for one competition? - and go a little old school :D
X1800 XT
X850 XT
for cheapness we can go for a 2600 XT or Pro model
What do you guys think?
-
Yes lets, X1800 would be good, I still have one.
-
2600 PRO
2600 XT
Actually, I would go for any card - just get ourselves together and start this already :)
-
i would go for anything with gddr3+ and yea i am fiending for some action as well..
:yepp::up::cool::D;)
-
Thats strange, cause i was actually looking at making a new thread about this, lol. Was even looking at card, and figured it's time we went ATI!
Looking around, i figured something like a HD 4550 would be cool, or older, like x1800/1900.
Same as someone else said, would like to run on some GDDR3 this time around. I shall check UK for X1800 and X1900's, bu Hd 4550's are readily available. down side is 64-bit bus. upside, GDDR3. anyways, more choice then a poll like last time! :D
- paul
-
I wanna stay clear of smaller bus speeds as it puts the emphasis on the memory rather than the core. Shall we start a new thread for the spring 2009 Cheapzilla challenge?
-
Yes, start a new thread and set a poll up.
I think we should go with HD2600XT - it comes in DDR3 version.
-
resurrecting this thread!!!
lets get something going guys!!! 4 months left of 2009!:yepp::p::cool::D
perhaps 4670's or 9500 gt's?
-
Sounds good. i could do with something fun to do in this department :P. Also have a QX9650 @ 3.8ghz now days which means i got a little more cpu power. shame the IX38 can;t keep up though...
back to topic, hmmm. HD2600 is a bit old. 9500GT is basically a 8600GT again. HD4670 i think would be fun, or if people could stretch to the budget, a HD4730, but that is like £70 and not the £40 region were used to. But come on. 128-bit with GDDR5 haha.
maybe everyone can come up with a different card idea but heres my idea
HD 3850 256/512/1024MB
why?
1) 256-bit + GDDR3
2) 668MHz core (HD3870 managed 1Ghz+)
3) Different PCB layouts and PWM areas
Ontop of that a quick check in the UK shows we can get them for £45 - £50 in some cases. readily available. Anyway open to other ideas too.
- Paul
-
I'm all in. Just name the card :D
-
HD 3850 would be fun but hard to find them for under $100USD here in the States. The HD4650 is 128-bit GDDR2 for $50 while the HD4670 is 128-bit GDDR3 for $60-70. I think the HD4650 is ideal as it is the cheapest 128-bit card I could see that is also heavily available. Guess a new thread is needed with a poll.
edit: Let's get a few more suggestions first though and then once we have all ideas considered we can fire up a poll.
-
Make it cheap, make it all DDR2 or 3, make it fun.
I'm in no matter what :-)
Edit: 4650 GDDR2 looks to be a good price point.
-
I'm in for 4650 GDDR2 or probably any other card for that matter
looking forward to this
-
Chris, would you be willing to start up a new thread for this? I like the 9500gt but I could live with ati. Those 4670 look like lotta fun.
-
lets do eeeeeeeeet hehehe
-
Are there any other GPU suggestions besides the 9500GT, HD 3850, HD 4670, and HD 4650? I'll whip up a poll in the AM with suggestions and a "I forgot to post my choice" option.
