I had same problem with original linpack in previous thread with orthos/prime showing error long before linpack did.

However, using newer libraries here and probably more importantly using setting 1 which forces max memory usage, I found the opposite that intelburntest is more efficient than orthos/prime.

But anything that prevents max memory usage, at least on my setup, makes intelburntest worthless, including using any setting but 1.

Pic is with vcore set to 4 notches below stable, where orthos 10ffts, prime small usually errors out by an hour or less. Linpack setting 3 passing 10 passes. Linpack setting 1 would not even pass two consective passes...fails every pass, output is like a random number generator. prime small ffts 15 mins and still going.

Would be interesting to see pics of what memory usage you are using...whether it is that or just very different for different components.

Yes, as I've said before, using the maximum amount of memory possible to test gives the most accurate test.

I just wanted to say thank you agent God. this software is very good at heating up my cpu, and it has seriously reduced the time i need to find out if i am stable or not...

Same here! I find doing a quick run of 5 tests on min RAM sufficient to very quickly identify if a system is unstable or not. In seconds I can see that the residuals are off, or worse I get a BSOD. I was having a hard time overclocking my Q6600, it could post at 400x9 but no amounts of VCore could make it stable. Just doing one run of this program spike the core temp to over 90°C and instant BSOD/reboot. I think I identified an OC "hole" or "limit" or whatever you call it at that point, but when I dropped the multiplier I was rock solid at 425x8. From there it was sooo fast to determine minimum voltages, right now my P5Q-E is running VCore 1.40625, PLL 1.56, VTT 1.22, VDimm 1.88, and NB Core 1.28. 20 runs max ram stable temps peak at 88°C but the system never runs that hot outside of this program.

Well this just proves how much the x64 adds axtra stress!
I was fully Memtest, Prime95, Everest & IntelBurnTest stable with XP x32 but have just moved to Vista 64; after moving to Vista 64 it took no more than 2 minutes of IntelBurnTest x64 to totally destroy my smug stability tests.

Can't even get 3 passes of the easy ones IntelBurnTest to run though Prime95 is still good and so is memtest?

Just wanted to check, but how hot should I allow my Q6600 G0 stepping to go? Trying to push the system more, temps monitored under Real Temp are reaching 90°C and that's under 1/2 mem test. Bit afraid to go for max ram right now with those temps. Suggestions please!

I'd say as long as it doesn't hit the Tjunction value of the CPU, it's fine. That's its throttling point.

It's recommended to use maximum memory (max stress) for the most accurate test.

This looks absolutely awesome. I'm going to give it a shot tonight when I get a chance and see how much this watercooling setup can jam :D

If your not running 64bits with this program wasting yours, and our time and shouldnt even be here you are not EXTREME. This is the best stabillity tester I have ever used, and the temps wow it goes to show how poor other stabillity testers are.

I have problems with IntelBurnTest v1.6. My system can pass test with 2-3 errors out of 20-30 runs at maximum memory usage and it can pass even with more errors.
But while using tests v1.4 and 1.51 my system is absolutely stable. 1.5 and 1.6 versions kill my pc... :(

I've been reading this thread a little. So it's enough to run Intel burn test to test stability of your system? No need to run Prime fro at least 12 hours? If so, what settings to use instead blend test and smallftt's? I mean, to test CPU and cpu-chipset-memory stability?

v1.6 is more accurate than 1.4.

how long does intel burn test usually take for you guys? i did a 5 test run and it took 1000 or so seconds?

Completed a 100 pass run at the max setting. No errors. (version 1.3)

E7200 at 3.94GHz wasn't stable. Damn! 3.9GHz wasn't stable either. Got it down to 3.81GHz. This is on P5B-E and it doesn't allow manual tuning of Vcore on 45nm CPUs (:banana::banana::banana::banana:!) Stupid Asus BIOS!!!

So the Vcore is max the BIOS allows. That is, 1.1V (VID) + 0.35V = 1.45V in BIOS, but 1.392V in CPU-Z and 1.336V in OCCT (couldn't check it while running this tool!)

Quite scary! Took it to 83C!!! This is with Asus Silent Square Pro. I think I need to lap the HS and get some AS5 :/

Depends on how much RAM u use. With 1GB RAM, it took only 5 minutes. With 3.1GB RAM, it took about 30 minutes.

it would be a very nice except that it seems to crash randomly. I've tried 1.5 and 1.6 (just downloaded it 2 hours ago) and they just crashed. :(

Agent, with the latest (1.6), I see 88% usage in Vista x64 with maximum amount selected- What's up with this? I'm using it at the maximum level, too.

i like this proggy, insane temps 15c higher than prime 95 but it passed 5
cpu loads out at 1.296 in cpuz

Then something is wrong. Raise voltage (if temps allow), slacken the RAM timings, or do the usual stuff that comes with overclocking. It shouldn't crash randomly unless your system is unstable when pushed to it's limits. See how it does at 3.4GHz and take it from there.

Well, this program has certainly asked a lot more of my chips so far.

My E8400 which was 12+ hours Orthos stable at 4.3GHz didn't pass this. I had to take it down to 4.08 GHz at 1.35v to get stability (dropped .5 off the multi)

My E8600 doesn't seem to like anything above 4.3GHz either, though at least it passes 5 of these. Now I'm going to see how it holds up for 25.

i was just reading and it seems 1.5.1 was pulled out because the software itself was buggy. how do I know if the problem is the software or my PC?

I thought that if my ram timings are wrong or it needs for Vcore, the software should not crash but the calculations would give wrong results? and it other instances, there will be a BSOD which happened to me the 1st time I tried this software.

I don't know if i've posted in this thread yet, but thanx for this excellent offer to those of who test for stability.

I used to use LinPack, but it's a PITA to work with really; this is nice & easy, & as others now know too, it's by far the hardest stability test out there to pass.
