PCI-E x16 slots are situated too close together (about 5 mm clearance between these 3870s). Otherwise, no complaints are far as layout is concerned.
man, 14 pages of tech support for this board... :(
whats the maximum memory speed anybody has ever achieved with this board?
i didnt read through the last couple of pages, are the memory divider problems fixed now?
The Maximum memory speed I've been able to run to date is 1600Mhz, with DDR3-1600 Ram.. But I can get to with 450 fsb and a 5:3 divider (mem at 1500Mhz) and the result is 9600Mb/s copy in everest. Idefinately happy with that.
Hmm i'll try 400/1600 @ 427FSb :D that will be 1700MHz :D
E: added screeny from 435FSb and 1450MHz mem :P
Going slow but steady :ROTF:
My result:
Hehey 450FSB and 1.5GHz mem :D
Not bad all from sub 200Eur mobo and 200Eur mem :D
Damn i was able to post with 475FSB but rig wasn't enought stable because the temps :F
BTW Linux works with the Bonetrail ^^
I'm finishing up the Linux driver for the monitoring chip this weekend. It'll give you fans, voltages and temps that the coretemp driver doesn't.
Hmpf everything else works but not vlc audio output :F
Winamp and superpi works perfectly with wine :D
Haha i'm real jackass, u can't listen music and look movies with sounds at same time :ROTF:
so 450 FSB is still the max anyone has gotten so far? that's awful. i'm currently running an E8400 on my P5W DH Deluxe motherboard and i can run 425 FSB on it. i ordered a new Bone Trail because i wanted to go higher on my new CPU. to be honest, i thought 450 FSB would be my starting point. now i'm kinda bummed.
hopefully i'll get my parts next week. i'll post results as i get them.
CPU and memory are just much FSB limiters as is the motherboard. With an E8400 and good memory you may be just fine. What memory are you getting?
in for a penny, in for a pound. i was originally going to try and save a few bucks by going DDR3 1066 and running it at a 1:1 ratio. after reading through this entire thread, i decided to do it right the first time and ordered a 2 GB set of Patriot Viper Extreme DDR3 1600 7-7-7-18. i've revised my expectations and will now be aiming for 466 FSB.
based on what i've read, i'm hoping to run the memory 1:2 @ DDR3 1864 7-7-7-20 at 1.9 V. assuming my CPU will do 4.2 GHz on air, i should be golden. hopefully i'm not being too optimistic.
Hey i'm running Quad core and it won't take that much FSB than Dual core. Like i said it was possible to post with 475FSB but Quad is hot stone :D
I think it's possible to hit 500FSB with Dual core like ur E8400.
And usually the CPU, Memory (and OCer) limits rigs Overclocking :D
E: Now running 455FSb in linux :D 3.64GHz CPU and 1516MHz Memory, All Memtest86+ 1.70 Stable
E2: Spi32m stable :D
E3: holy crap look that everest result!
470FSB: http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=304061
Mem is actually: 785MHz = 1569MHz
Could u add these results to first page?
Going to run wPrime soon as possible
E: Done
Wprime 1024: http://www.hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=692736
wPrime 32: attachment
okay, now i'm getting excited. if my little plan works, i'll only need 466 FSB anyway. it's good to know the motherboard will have headroom if i decide i need it though.
@ Randy2:
Thanks!
@ Everyone:
For those of you running this mobo and Vista - Do you use the built in Vista driver for the SATA controller (Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller driver.) Or do you use the Intel provided Intel Matrix AHCI storage driver? How stable is your system?
Hey guys, I'm building a system with the DX38BT and I can't get XP to install, your help would be really appreciated here !
My system spec :
- DX38BT Mobo (iflashd' in the latest 1397 bios)
- Q6600 Quad Core 2.4 (thermaltake 775d fan on top)
- 2 Sticks of Patriot 2Gb DDR3 1333MHz (PDC34G1333LLK)http://www.patriotmemory.com/product...&id=650&type=1
- WD Raptor 150Gb HD on sata0
- Other 500Gb HD on sata1
- DVD drive on sata2
- nVidia FX1700 512Mb graphics card in PCIx 16 slot 1
I put to whole thing together and started it up. I decided to run everything at default settings as everything appeared to be present in bios, more or less.
I put my XP pro disc and booted off it to install to the fast raptor HD. It got through the first part of the install ok. When it resets and boots off the HD to continue the install, midway though the 'installing drivers' part, I get the BSOD with this message :
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Stop : 0x0000000A (0,00000010, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x80515A86)
Beginning Dump of physical memory.
Physical dump memory complete.
It warns to switch off shadowing and caching in bios (how do I do that ?) among checking hardware and software updates..
To attempt to correct this, I updated the BIOS to 1397, restarted, same problem. I tried starting with only one stick of memory in the first slot and then alternated with the other, same problem. I tried installing to different hard disks (with only one plugged in at the time of install) still did not work. I have tried various mobo settings in BIOS like switching off all peripherals (sound, network), still same problem.
I noticed that the memory is not reported or running correct in the BIOS. The reported memory speed in the initial BIOS screen is 1066MHz. In memory settings, I have manually set the latencies to the manufacturer settings :
7-7-7-20 1333Mhz @ 1.7v. With these settings, the system will not start forcing me to use the mobo jumper reset. The memory will run 7-7-7-20 1066Mhz @1.7v. What is the reference frequency option in this menu ? I left it at default..I have run memtest86 in dos for 2 days, no reported problem with the 1066Mhz BIOS settings.
My guess is memory, motherboard or graphics card. I mean if it was the processor (correct me if I'm wrong here), I don't think I could have even gotten into the bios let alone halfway through the startup in windows xp . With that said I am going to try a friends graphics card to identify another possible error in this.
I'm looking for any help I can get toward getting this system up and running !
Any suggestions you guys have would be really appreciated !
