Does the P5E need the onboard ATAPI CD-ROM connector for DVD audio or does it support support digital audio through the IDE cable? Thanks.

It does it thru IDE cable.

I noticed the Maximus Extreme is onsale today at the 'egg and a few other places as well. I'm tempted to spring for it and see if it performs any better than the P5E3 Deluxe.

Hey all, I ordered my P5E last night along with the PC8000 2x2GB GSkill mentioned in this thread. This thread has been VERY helpful so far. I am selling my good ol' P5W DH - that was a good board.

So, I just read this ENTIRE thread and cannot see any of the VDroop pencil mod pictures or links. Am I blind? I've checked the whole thread like 3 times and ... no pics. Please help!

Also, I will be RAID0ing 3 WD740ADFD Raptors off of the ICH9R. Can I still use my new Samsung 20x DVDROM with the ICH9R when in "RAID" mode? I absolutely despise JMicron anything and hope I don't have to enable it.

Thanks! Real excited to get this board and see what it can do. Can't wait for the E8500 in January!

I'm going to pencil mod and flash immediately to the 0402 BIOS - sound good?

Looking at my p5e vanilla with my 2xtwinx1064c4 with a q600 g0 being cooled by a scythe mugen. Wow the cooler together with the fan is uge.
My other set of 2048 ram doesn't even fit with the cooler on.

The bios is still at 0107 and I will first start to do some overclock trials with it.
My previous board was a p5b-DLX. this new baby has a lot of extra settings on it. Don't like to see a lot of settings saying auto. Anyone here want to share their settings with me?

No and no.
I have a Vdrop of 0.1 V at 1.55 V set in BIOS, whatever I set the LC value (AUTO-ENABLE-DISABLE)

:D Just forget the LLC and set it to disable - do the pencil mod. Takes less than a minute and works perfectly. Vdroop = 0.000%............:up:

That's my plan - UPS says it'll be on my doorstep Wednesday. So ANY pencil will work?

How did the Vdroop get detected? Was Vcore set in the BIOS and then the voltage read in Hardware Monitor in the BIOS? I am curious.

Yes, will a 2H pencil work OK?

:( O.K. - just flashed 0204 BIOS -------> 4:5 divider still broken:mad: and the only impeovement I can see is made for the "EL BLINDOs"...., now there's a remark in BIOS that You have to type in the voltages manually.....:yepp:

BTW - for pencil mod use 2B or 3B pencil - HB or H-class is too hard. Remember that You have to get as much as possible graphit on the resistor.
Cover Your work with a small piece of electrical tape so that it cannot be blown away from there if You use case fans or fans blowing to the mobo.

Do you think airflow will ruin the mod? What about problems with tape on the other resistirs? THX
