For me, this OS can suck as much as it will. As long as it'll play Quake3 on my current hardware I'm willing to try it.
Actually, I already love it, if for nothing else, the drame in this thread
Keep on trucking guys :rocker:

Vista and in general the windows platform "sucks" on everything, but games.
Corporate offices don't play games, so vista is for consumers(noobs for microsoft, since they are too cheap for them).
nn_step didn't say Vista (all package) sucks, he owns a build of this OS, on other treads he usually posts about DRM as negative function and other "Bling - Blings" unnecessary for all users.
Noob = beginner (A inexperienced and/or ignorant or unskilled person)
Noobs of the world = beginners of the world (inexperienced kind, yet they own a PC for a couple of years - they used it only for multimedia, games, school projects already finished and chat)
Professionals use Mac and Unix based OS.
PS.Even professionals used it at home - at least those who don't have a Mac OS X :).

You don't know even the team behind XSOS, but yet you assume you know how you would act in nn_step place? So much assuming, if you ask me.Quote:

Curiously, that first Beta group should be finished up, yes?
Who was in it that posted to be in it and can they provide some detailed feedback? Or are they sworn to silence?
Well, each case is different, maybe this one is different of whatever you've ran into. If memory serve me well, some kind of contract exist between MS and the XSOS team. Maybe certain questions can't be answered because of that. I don't know either, but I, opposite to you, need this to be proved false, not the other way around.
About the first beta team, I don't know either, but I suppose that if it's a closed beta, the feedback is possibly "closed" too. You could have tried to join the beta when it was open to see by yourself. I tried to do so (in fact I registered here only for that reason) but I didn't know about the moderation queue and wasn't able to post till the next day he closed it :(
Anyways, I'm not trying to attack you or anything. Just have a different point of view. Oh, and I don't know if it were you, but someone asked, some pages back, "why would be MS helping XSOS team". My response to this is: "Why not? Just because they never did it before? You can't be sure only for that reason."
Cheers.
are we able to see this contract ??? :D

And as far as I'm concerned Apple f**cked up grandly, and may have forever lost my confidence, with their series of commercials depicting a Mac as cool, young and hip while the PC is old, strict and conservative. One of the commercials is like "I know you're really good with numbers PC..." "Yeah, and you're really good with the creative stuff Mac..." and this is where I go WTF?! =) It's the same hardware now. What could possibly make Mac OS more "creative" than Wintendo (since it's only an OS question now)? It's like saying *nix is only for servers...
I digress...I really hope XSOS v3 will come to be and be as good as anything it hopes emulate. If it would turn out to be bogus I would be somewhat more than disapointed...
i say that we just all shutup and let "nnstep's team" do the work. if it doesnt release, a fake, then he pays. grandly. for his reputation. embarassment.
if he does, then great!
what good is there in pessimism? its not like we've all placed bets on him.
playing on his side:
if he is just making all this up, then whats his point? fame? i mean infamous if its all just a fluke.
yes, i understand that speedlander is making very good points. in all honesty, i doubt his contract with MS. but who knows? we really have no right to say anything when there is absolutely no proof.
i signed up for beta testing early, so i HOPE to acquire a copy soon.
when is the OS out? not beta the final
Thanks
after the BETA :DQuote:

Seems to be alot of talk in here that is not helping the development of XSOS, and NN_Step you should be answering more questions, i.e at what stage the beta resting is up to. If you're unable to answer certain things ATM (due to MS contract or some other reason) just say so.
from everything I know, from everything I've heard and from all my gut instincts I beleive what nn_step says on this.
Now if you can't beleive him for whatever reason thats fine but don't toss it up here. The guy has put a lot into this and that in itself is provable by anyone that has tried his OS. I have and it is in fact his and that is a fact.
As to contracts with whomever I have no reason to disbelieve him.
Agreed 100%. I do not understand why people feel the need to rant and rave and demand answers. If you don't believe, go away... It seems fairly simple. I would rather nn spend all his time producing a quality OS than sit in this forum 24 hours a day answering asinine questions and assuaging ridiculous fears.Quote:

I'm not doubting nn_step, I just find the fact that the "teaser" shot is nothing more than KDE + a text editor most likely running on Linux.
You mean I wasn't supposed to get DirectX10 and the Win32 to work properly by porting some Microsoft source code into ubuntu? Darn, looks like I have to make some changes to make you "feel better" about the OS. :rolleyes:Quote:
