What memory would you guys recomend ?
I'm thinking one of these 2 choices:
Gskill http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231075
or Crucial

I plan on getting a 750w PC P&C psu also..
Thanks for the advice..

Hello guys,
What's your best with "standard" cooling, I mean the standard chipset heatsink, a good sink and fan on the CPU and a correct airflow (case open)?
I manage to raise the FSB to 450/460 MHz with all voltages set to auto... and I can't even post at 500 with voltage increase.
I also have a really strange problem overclocking with Vista, but it's off topic. When I get to around 3.6 GHz, my Vista ask me to activate, it won't longer work... and if I raise the CPU voltage, I can post, but I have an error message from Windows Defender. I have the same pb with two (similar) boards, the P5B DX and the Commando and two (similar ?) CPUs, E6400 and Q6600 (both ES). If I slow my CPU a bit, let's say 3.4 GHz, everything works just fine (no need to reinstall Vista).
See you,
Thomas
Deam I order comando and with P5B DX I do 470MHz FSB with Q6600, so it is posible that comando cant do the same:confused:Quote:

Here is my reworked Commando :D
The board has been reworked for GTLREF control.
Finding the correct spots was really easy it took less than 10 minutes.
The wiring job was pain in the ass so I decided to use a piece of pcb to put them in a better order
Sorry for the mess and the sh*tty soldering job.

And the previous results vs news results are... ? :) Nice job there... I wouldn't do it :D
Hi guys, I just got my Commando up and running last night. However, I noticed that when I launched a 3D app there was a high-pitch buzzing/screeching sound and what whenever I alt+tab'ed out it went away. At first I attributed it to my 8800GTX, however, I later tried to OC my CPU from 266FSB to 300FSB and immediately noticed the buzzing sound had returned, regardless of what I was doing - even in BIOS. I've since unplugged my 8800GTX, put in an old Radeon7000-PCI card and noticed the noise when OCing. Also, when I start to run Orthos the noise intensity picks up and get incredibly more noticeable (at either stock or higher).
I've got a SeaSonic S12 650W PSU, and I didn't have this problem with either an M32N-SLI or Striker mobo.
So is my board bad?
This evening I'm going to swap my PSU and try my old 600W PSU and see if anything changes.... although I doubt it will.
Thanks!
I noticed the same sound from my p5b-deluxe and Commando. (Although less intense on the commando) I just assumed it was normal since they were inherent on both boards...Quote:

I forgot to mention that, this Asus Commando has a several buzzing problem ! I thought It was my Ultra X-Pro 750W but I switched it to a Silverstone ST85ZF and buzzing sounds were still there !
It needs to be fixed, and that can't be fixed with a new bios...
PD: I was also using a 8800GTX.
The buzzing sound comes from insufficient power filtering, aka too small capacitors.
ffs i HATE buzzing
With my buzzing silverstone Zeus 750w PSU and this motherboard ill be attracting bees to my place :(
I see in another topic you already have the 0702 BIOS, would you mind sharing ?Quote:

Just checking before I return the board for a P5B-Dlx - the buzzing is present on all Commandos?
Are you sure it's not the GTX? Mine seems to buzz whenever it switches over to full 3d, but before the fan ramps up. I can't really hear it now that I have a case. I'll be getting Commando on Monday. I'll see if it buzzes or not.Quote:
