I use a strand wire from a floppy cable or a psu wire.
I can go cut it from an old psu i guess. Just cut off a molex connector and about 1/4" of wire.
decided to try this via the pin route with aim for 200
not sure if i'm doing right because all i get is post at 100
even if m/b is jumpered for 100 it posts 100 or if at 133/166
it posts at 100  board&bios supports 400fsb
Any one got a guide to the pin numbering?
Pic of pin paint....

whatever the mod types you perform, after you are done, reset your CMOS and boot it up. When you look in there, go to the CPU frequency/FSB screen and see what the default/rated CPU speed and FSB it shows. That's where you need to look, not the default speed shown in the first bootup BIOS screen.
as for the wire, just use a strand of wire from a speaker or fan wire that are not in use/ or trashed. It doesn't have to be a gold wire.
done all that ;)
always boots as an xp 1500
for the xp1700 cpus, after the mod, it will post at 11 x 100mhz FSB, period, no matter what kind of mod you do to it.
if you have the xp1700 and did the mod and always boots as xp1500, well, something you did is wrong. Definitely.
and even if you succeed in 200fsb mod, I don't think you will get much of FSB oc'ing improvement at all. I went back to 166fsb mod. Of course, this doesn't mean automatically yours will behave exactly the same as mine, but something for you to consider. ;)
Thought i'd just test 200fsb out for the shear hell of it.
Its an XP2100 i've undone the mod and done a top
chip paint of the bridges so i'll test that in a mo.
both pins when painted were showing ground at under
1 ohm so bit confused.
O well test 2.....
Doh now I feel silly :am:
Just noticed on the second try, i'm using a machine I have
not used in some time and its a tad dark and its in its case still
Some theiving so and so swipped me backup backup batt
Put a new one in put the CPU in and bingo 200FSB CPU
can't believe it took me this long to notice
1 last question. I cut a piece of wire from a fan. Should i use 1 strand of that, or the whole thing?
1 strand. :)Quote:

I also use telephone wire and although the mod was successful, it didn't make much different in my OC. Do you think the telephone is the problem? Should I use something else?
Hey PCice, m8. Can you give me any tips on flashing the NF7-S v2.0 with bios 1.0 from bios 1.7? If I use the files from the bios 1.0 extractable then I get alot of write errors in the flash. If I substitute a later version of awardflash it tells me the PMC flash chip is write protected!
Use the Abit Flash Menu Windows flashing utility!
That'll let you flash to and from ANY bios for the board!
Thx m8. I'll give it a go. Last time my bios got screwed using flashmenu, so wish me GL!Quote:

Never had any problem with flashmenu, but i think it's still a beta
Is there anyone that have closed the pins at the back of the motherboard instead of pin-modding the cpu or the socket?
I have tried to close the 3:rd L12 on the cpu 200 times now without success so i´m thinking this might be easier. Before i try this, i want to know if anyone have done this with success.
TIA
Mac
Try the wire drop method, worked first time for me and was easy as pie.
I agree with you and i hope a mod will hear you, anyway this thread is often in the first page and can be easily found even if the search engine won't acept the word "L12"Quote:

Just use wildcards ;) just write "L12*" into search window.
to antipop : Hi, before this thread could move to a sticky, it would be great if you gather all the informations and edit your first message in order that anyone that read the 1st page can have his answer about :Quote:

the is a site that i would like you put in the 1 st message because it is the most valuable one about the L12 mod with wire that i've seen up to now :
